And Stephen A Smith saying this morning Lebron texted KD to come here as a free agent? Come on now.

It's all clickbait stuff around this time.

Woj (who is credible) says the Lakers have offered Ingram and a 1st rounder, but the Spurs want more. Given that Leonard walks in a year and Ingram is a good young player under a good contract for 3 more years, that offer seems fair. If the Lakers intend to go the James, George, Leonard route, they could include a sign and trade with Randall to make the math work out. Impossible to keep Randle if all 3 are coming. But would still have to find a taker for Deng. So from the Lakers standpoint, they'd want it to be Leonard for Ingram, Deng and a 1st. No way the Spurs want Deng's contract. So maybe need to find a third team to take Deng and maybe Spurs agree to take on an expiring contract from that third team.

Man, Ingram and a 1st. I like Ingram a lot, but that for Leonard?? I'd do it, but that just screams of San Antonio wanting more. You really have to push the "he's a free agent in a year and was injured" angle and prove it's the best offer you'll get.

Later reports suggest that it's Ingram the Spurs covet, but he has not necessarily been offered by the Lakers.

There is speculation that Paul George is going to stay in OKC. If so, there isn't as much pressure on the Lakers to do anything. Wait to see what Lebron does. No reason to trade for Leonard now when you can just sign him next year for free, particularly if Lebron and PG13 aren't coming.

Another rumor has us trading Deng to Denver in return for about $34 million in expiring contracts (Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler and Darrell Arthur) and a 1st rounder. Then would flip Faried's expiring contract to the Spurs as part of an Ingram trade for Leonard. The Spurs want nothing to do with Deng's contract. Denver supposedly willing to do the deal as they are trying to get out of the luxury tax. Lakers could probably find a taker for Chandler if they throw in the first rounder. Then could buyout Arthur's $7.4 million contract, which is much less of a cap hit that buying out and stretching Deng over 5 years.

Lakers have decided to guarantee Zubac's contract, which might be because they want to keep him or just want to include him in a trade. Tyler Ennis has been waived. Still have to decide what to do with Thomas Bryant.

Edit: Bryant has now been released. Possible they might try to bring him back for less. You have to presume they need the $1.3 million in cap space for other purposes.

Paul George commits to stay with OKC according to Woj.

The silver lining here is IF Lebron comes, the Lakers will have enough cap space to get some veteran players to join on one-year deals without having to trade away any young players. Won't be forced to give up multiple picks to get some team to take Deng. Then will be in a position to sign Leonard next season without giving up any of the young talent. In one year Deng becomes an expiring contract that is easier to move.

4 years, 154 million for Lebron.

Now he has a chance to really cement his legacy if he can get the Lakers back on top of the mountain.
