we are going to find out how bad he wants to remain a King come contract talks. He is going to want what he is worth and The Kings will have to find cap space to get there. So we will all see how it plays out.

We have the cap space , we have 8 million in cap space right now minus about 3 million for some of the youngsters that will make the team and you have 5 million in cap space. I'm sure Blake is keeping the cap space for Doughtys raise but if he doesn't sign next summer then we are all in big trouble

Why would the Kings be in trouble? If they trade Doughty, the Kings will get a couple of prospects and picks! Doughty is not going to sign for the next five to seven years just to be a King. A rebuild will take that long. If the Kings do not dramatically improve this season, I expect him to be traded either at the deadline or most likely the offseason? I don't think you wait until the following season's deadline to trade him.

The Kings are already in trouble...that why Deano and Sutter were fired.

Deano made sure the Kings will be "in trouble" for quite some time.

Barring a return to the performances of his youth, Gabbo's getting bought out at the very latest Doughty's UFA summer of '19. That's 2m more cap space available offset by replacement salary. Vilardi, while not a direct positional replacement, might be up by then. Who knows how the Brown situation will shake out too.

Definition : marked by fearless resolution : valiant.

Sounds about right. I wonder if the Kings or Doughty himself has seen this.

Hey Aaron - I asked him specifically about Kopitar's deal. Here's what he said: "I’m not really gauging what I’m going to make off of what Kopy makes. I’m a D man, he’s a forward. I’m not looking at that." Read into that how you will.

Ouch! He just said he's looking at his options and is thinking about it lately. Sucks to see Doughty go. But that's the nature of the beast!
