Agree that Iafallo has been this year's best story -- and is the best thing that has happened to Kopi and Brown in 3 seasons.
Reminds me a lot of when Kings brought up Charlie Simmer and the Triple Crown Line was born.

Seems like a lot of concern for Kempe this season. This is a throw a way season so give him enough rope. A full season should give the Kings an idea of where this player stands.

Simmer was a scorer in the AHL. But he would be brought up, placed on the 3rd line, not score and be sent down.

In the 5 partial season in the minors he played 254 or so games with 261 points, 122-139.

Kempe was far from the type of scorer in the minors that Simmer was in the minors.

Exactly the comparison I was thinking of. Get there really, really quickly and do something really, really stupid upon arrival. Kempe just needs to locate Adam Deadmarsh and knee him in the head.

Ugh. I have to admit I was probably wrong about Kempe at center. I always hoped they'd give him a good opportunity there, but he's just not clicking. Some of it is not having center IQ, and a lot of it is not having reliable veteran support.

But at the same time, this isn't a Cup contending season, and you've got Amadio coming along, with Villardi and JAD perhaps not that far behind. The organization isn't as bare at center as it was a year ago. I do still think he can be successful offensively, he just doesn't have the vision to play the middle like Jeff Carter. Most people don't. There's plenty of other ways he can still make an impact, and it's probably time to see what he can do on the wing.

Kempe was terrible in the AHL at center, and he is terrible at the NHL at center. He cannot win a face off, his wingers take the draws for him. He is often lost on defense, and he does not drive the offense. His hockey IQ is average at best. And yet, even after he was switched to wing last night as a result of Clifford's injury and looked decent at LW, he was right back today at center in practice centering the 4th line with Dowd and Brodzinski on his wings. The Kings staff has gone completely mental if they think they can pound a square peg into a round hole. They stubbornly refuse to let the experiment die. Kempe needs someone that can distribute to him, not the other way around. His passing vision is average.
