Booooo! Kings big successes ALWAYS seem to be uphill. This bodes well for the post-season Kings...

On a related note, how's Valardi doing?

nm, looks like he still hasn't even started on ice work yet. Bummer. This could have been his shot.

Someone posted (FB I believe) that it was a cut tendon...could be total BS though. Will be tough to lose him for the next couple of months.

I assume it could be true, but the only sources I've been able to find for this is "LAKingSteve" posting "a thing I don't quite remember that I might have seen on Facebook" on Twitter.

My son had a similar injury. In his case, the blade made its way between the tongue of the skate, and under the shin guard. If anyone wants to lose their breakfast, I can post pictures. In any event, got him down to the bone, completely severed a tendon, and just nicked the "casing" of a bundle of nerves. Had to have surgery to repair the tendon. Didn't get back on the ice for 6 months. Of course, Carter will likely have access to a better surgeon, a better procedure, and better rehab. So even if he does have a severed tendon, he could be back much sooner than my boy. The frustrating thing is that this kind of injury is completely preventable. They have cut-proof socks. I got them from my boy after his incident. I'll have to ask him if there is a comfort issue with them. If there's not, I can't imagine why everyone wouldn't wear them.

They're thicker socks and a little stiff, but you get used to them.

They also have shirts with kevlar collars to prevent cuts to the neck. No one wears those, either. Hockey players are creatures of habit.

So like not washing regular socks for a few games?
