    Default Dustin Brown $&*@ post

I know I’m going to be flamed for this, but I have to ask, if the phone were to ring with a Dustin Brown offer because of his amazing play and it gives us a chance to dump his salary, but no other return, do you do it?

Il bite--Not going to happen, ever with that salary, but my hat goes off to Brown for his effort this year. I'd waive or give up Gabby in a heartbeat when he's healthy, but that's another pipe dream.

Right now, no. After the season? It depends what happens between now and then, but he certainly seems rejuvenated. Baseball used to have a "Comeback player of the year" award (maybe they still do), and I would say so far, Brown is on his way towards its equivalent in hockey.

Trying to be objective about this team right now is a little tricky. But my feeling is whatever happens with the standings by April, it looks like they're going to have a real good opportunity to remake this team on the fly without having to tank and rebuild.

That's a real unexpected positive, and Brown's resurgence is a huge part of it, and a huge part of why no one saw this coming.

Yes, his performance might make him tradable again, but that contract means you still wouldn't get anything in return that helps you.

So, to answer the question, no I wouldn't personally trade him. I think he makes this team better right now. A lot better. Hopefully that continues long enough that by the time he sucks again there's not so many years left!

I would not rule out Gaborik's ability to rejuvenate in this offense either. Let's see.

I've always been glad he's on the team. Its just an issue that he wasn't worth his cap hit. This year it doesn't really matter as much whether he plays to his contract # or not as we are not near the cap limit. (So, naturally, he picks this season to rebound.) I'm happy to see he is having a good year. I'd like him to finish his career here even if he's overpaid, so long as he can fill a valuable role.

Hell, I'm a fan of the guy, and he's doing a nice job this year. But yeah, if we had a taker, I wouldn't mind seeing his contract unloaded.

    I wouldn't say "no one".

    4) Making a real run at the playoffs on the back of an elite goaltender in Quick

On a side note, I'm also looking forward to seeing what Cammalleri can do this year. That's a boom or bust deal, so just seeing how it works out will be interesting.
