    Default Pierre Turgeon

With the Kings scoring up almost a goal a game this year even without Jeff Carter, maybe it's time to give some props to our new offensive specialist coach, Pierre Turgeon. Certainly the new attitude with Stevens in charge has a lot to do with it, but I have to believe Turgeon is also a factor.

    Concur....back doors?
When have the Crowns ever done that?

Young Dustin Brown has been great...and the kids....

Like the RAMS...it's nice to have a creative offensive minded coach of staff...

Don't really know for sure how much of an impact Turgeon has on the offense.
Clearly the offense is quite a bit more creative than in the past under Sutter.
I have not heard/read anything specific giving Turgeon credit for the uptick.

Is it Stevens? Is it Turgeon? Is it both? Dunno, but clearly it is vastly improved, and that is awesome.

I'd love to see some article or quote somewhere giving some insight into Turgeon and his role with the team since the season has begun.

Obviously the biggest changes are what they're doing on offense this season.

1 - Pass it to someone in the slot (ex. Cammy setting up shop there for the PP)
2 - Pass it cross crease to make a goalie move right to left or left to right (ex. Maple Leaf game when they were at Staples or last night's goal when Iafallo passed it to Brown)
3 - Throw a no look pass knowing your teammate will be there (ex. Pearson to Kempe last night)

Compare that to Sutter's system where the idea is to have the defense shoot it from the point and pray it goes in? And if the shot gets blocked, keep doing it? Huge difference for sure.

'You can work hard and not have fun, and work hard and have fun. I prefer the have fun part.'
I think the guys definitely deserve to have some fun attempts to win the Cup after 2 Cup wins and, what, 7 years of anti-fun hockey? I'm loving this new approach. Props to Sutter for bringing out the best out of them years ago, but clearly it's not a long-term recipe for success.

Sounds like he took over the "fun embasador" role of Bernie Nichols while keeping the strategies on point. Great idea and pickup by Blake.

I've never seen so much great passing from a Kings team that didn't have Gretzky on it.
