Kopitar, Quick & Folinr Dec 3rd Post Game Quotes

Read more quotes and articles at Jon Rosen's Blog here

Anze Kopitar, on getting the two points:
I thought we were dictating the pace pretty well. And then the let down in the second period—Quickie kept us in it. Some penalty kill and then we just kind of gutted it out in the third which, on a trip like this, it’s not the easiest thing to do because you’re going 3-0 and you can almost see that plane taking off already. And we knew how important these two points were and we got the job done.
    Kopitar, on guys stepping up:

You know, that’s what we pride ourselves on. It’s not just the one guy or the two guys doing it, it’s anybody on any given night and our depth scoring has been pretty good and that’s why we’ve gone 4-0 on this trip.

Jonathan Quick, on what it means to go undefeated on the road trip:

It means we got eight points on this trip. Now we’ve got to go home. And our game at home hasn’t been as good as we’d like it to be, so we’ve got to try to correct that and win the next time out.
Quick, on what he’s liked from the team in the past four games:
Just finding ways to win in tough buildings, playing against some tough teams. So it’s obviously positive and something to build off of.
Quick, on what allows the team to play so well on the road:

At the end of the day it don’t matter where you play, you’re just trying to play your game every night and you know for whatever reason we’re able to do that on the road.

Christian Folin, on getting the first goal:

Even before the game we knew the first goal was going to be really important in these kind of games and we got the first goal so it was a good job for us.
Folin, on keeping the Blackhawks from getting shots in during the first period:

Yeah I think we came out pretty well. We obviously knew that they played yesterday so we wanted to have a good start and that’s something we talked about before the game. I think we played really well in the first period and then in the second, we kind of got away from the play.

Folin, on if the team was trying to get just anything on net when it was tied at zero:
Yeah, absolutely. I mean I saw there’s two guys trying in front and one of their forwards was coming pretty hard at me so I just kind of shot it in there hoping for the best to get the puck down to that area and hopefully outman them up front and get the puck in. But it’s fun when it goes in. I don’t score too many goals so I’ll take it.
Folin, on whether it’s tough to stay in this lineup:

It’s really competitive. It’s fun. I think we’re pushing each other as a group. All seven of us are pushing each other to get better every day and I think that’s something we’re going to need going forward if we want to go long and go far in the playoffs we’re going to have to have a be having a really competitive spirit in practice.
Folin, on going undefeated on the trip:

It’s awesome. We talked about it before going on the trip—that it’s four huge games. And we like playing on the road too so I think that is good for our group, being on the road a couple days. But it’s going to be fun going back to LA here and play Minnesota again. I haven’t seen them in awhile.
Folin, on the psychological boost that Quick gives the team:

It’s unbelievable. I get surprised every time. You think the puck is going to be in the net but somehow it stays out. So it’s fun to see and he’s making those saves in practice too so I’m not surprised anymore but it’s awesome when he makes them.

    Today's Poll Question:

By outscoring Chicago 3-1 in the third period, Los Angeles has now outscored its opponents 36-13 (+23) in third periods this season. They outscored opponents 8-1 in third periods on the road trip. How many goals will be scored by BOTH teams in the 3rd period of this game?

    Thanks Nyssa!

I'll go with 2 goals in the 3rd. Let's hope there's not the first game home let down.
