I still want to trade Jeff by the deadline (regardless of where we are in the standings, this team may be -forgive me- a facade). Is buying out brown/gabby no longer in the mix? And Tanner is effing killing me. Thoughts?

    Happy New Year!

Not happening. If he's still hurt, then he can't be traded. Even if he returns, why would another team want somebody returning from a major injury, not sure if he would be the same player. Now, if Carter returns and tears it up and the Kings do well in the playoffs, I certainly would be open to trading him.

You can trade hurt players. You cannot waive for purposes of buyout a hurt player.

Btw before someone brings up evander Kane can we set the minimum from Buffalo at Ryan O'Reilly? Only forward over there that might be worth a damn in the playoffs.

Yes, remember the Justin Williams trade? He was hurt, but I repeat myself.

Thought the timetable for his return was January. Thirty plus days to get his legs beneath him, kiss him goodbye and let's move forward.

I thought he was supposed to be skating by February. Either way the scenario presents selling low. I'm trying to think of a Dman that could make it a hockey deal worth it for both sides.

Blake said the team hopes for Carter to return around the trade deadline. Don't think that projection has changed yet.

understood. if it is February, that does shift my stance, slightly; as you said, selling low. but keep thinking about that dman/carter trade.

jam, you seem kind of sweet on Buffalo, watching them now...not seeing the allure.

If Nashville hadn't already made their move I'd have said they would have made a lot of sense. Otherwise the most obvious move out there would be with Montreal but do we really want a Petry/Paciorety deal?
