Vilardi didn't get any points in his 2nd game Sat night .

But he did win 12/20 faceoffs, and was a +1 in a 6-4 victory.

And while we're at it, might as well add that Mike Amadio had a goal sat night for Ontario.

One article I read about the Vilardi trade quoted Warren Rychel , who is the GM for the team that traded him and is not surprisingly well connected with the Kings and esp. Blake, as saying that he dealt him because he is sure that Vilardi will be in the NHL next year and so his team wouldn't be getting him back next season anyway. Remember that (except during the playoffs) North Americans cant go to the AHL until they are 20 and Vilardi is only 18. SO he can't play in the AHL next year.

Its also worth remembering that Corey Pronman had him rated as the #3 player in the draft and if I correctly recall in the top 30 prospects of the last 5 years.

So he seems like a bit of a tweener, way too good for junior and a little young/raw for the NHL-especially for a guy whose only weakness was supposed to be skating. Unless he struggles at the NHL, I don't think we ever see him for a full season in Ontario.

So Vilardi had 2G 2A in today's game against Niagara. That's 6 points in 3 games for the kid!

Vilardi has a good chance at a 2nd Memorial Cup. Kingston is going all-in this year in a big way with this morning's trade for Max Jones, who won a MemCup in 2016.

Aren't Kingston numbers usually inflated? Not that he's not playing well, But I remember Spencer Watson and Roland McKeown putting up big numbers there.

And Toffoli is NOT 1 dimensional.

Another big, muscle center kind of seems like a throwback when the competition is going with speed. I hope the scouts are proven wrong saying Vilardi's skating ability is "ugly."

If I am not mistaken, he must either stick with the Kings next season or go back to Jr's. NO AHL for him.
I would think he will be up next season. No use in another year of Jt's if that is the case.

Could it be another Jason Allison in the making without the attitude?

You are not mistaken. Kid was still 17 when he was drafted last July. Vilardi will be barely 19 when next season starts. So it's definitely NHL or Juniors for Gabe in 2018/19.
