Awww, come on now. Don't be so negative.

    The Kings made the playoffs!
We got to watch them humiliate themselves and get swept by an expansion team.

Now that's worth the black hole pick, no?

Was there a sure bet in the 8-16 draft positions? Any of those kids going to be insertable into an NHL lineup in the next 2-3 seasons?

With their current lineup, the Kings arenít going to be anywhere near the bottom 5 anyways, and if actually making the playoffs has any positive effect on drew doughty signing a long term extension, Iím fine with the way things played out.

The most important thing is that we actually have all our high picks going forward. Nothing has been traded away.

Who the Kings will pick and who will be available are very different!

This is a very defense heavy draft; I wouldn't be surprised to see the Kings grab a defenseman at 20. Here are the links of rankings to Central Scouting:
    http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospect...Rank&year=2018 (international skaters)
    http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospect...Rank&year=2018 (North American skaters)

Two defensemen who caught my eye with readings/highlights are Alexander Alexeyev and Jared McIsaac.

Alexander Alexeyev is a dynamic two way defenseman who missed some time this season due to injury. He plays for the Red Deer Rebels, and is listed at 6'3, 200 lbs. He'll probably fall a bit due to the injury.

Jared McIsaac is a highly talented defenseman as well. However, the Kings haven't drafted a defenseman out of the QMJHL since Joey Ryan in 2006 or drafted from the Q at all since 2013. However, the way he gets out of trouble, and the creativity he has with the puck should remind you of someone else at a young age. He's listed at 6'1, 196 lbs, playing on one of the few QMJHL teams who regularly churn out great NHL players: the Halifax Mooseheads.
