Do it in a heartbeat for a first rounder, but that's not going to happen.

The Kings said they were going to terminate his contract, but when Voynov self deported it became unnecessary. There was a team press release that stated this. Had none of this occurred, his last contract would have one year left on it now. I suspect that we still own his rights as a result. But at the same time, I assume we aren't obligated to pay him under the old contract if he is reinstated. So who knows.

The "unnecessary" part was due to the fact a contract automatically terminates when a player leaves the country. His contract was indeed terminated, and the Kings do still own his rights.

All the media talks of him going in different teams but 0 talk of LA owning his rights. Would interesting to see Luc or Blake comment on this.

Fairly certain the Kings own his rights as well or have the right of first refusal (similar to kovy trying to return post retirement)

Trade him to the Flyers with Toffoli for Nolan Patrick and some prospects or picks.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
