Phaneuf is a #4 left shot defender on a team full of left shot defenders, in an organization whose only defensive prospects play on the left side, and in a position that is among the easiest and least expensive to fill in free agency. But our old, slow defender is paid well above his station, and wants to play out his string on the beach where his never was-been wife can try to book a straight to ION Network show.

Social mastery is not your thing, I get it. But all you had to do was post one of these and you would have gotten reluctant laughs and likes. It's summer, Mon, access your fun side.

Contracts aside, they'll probably both be bought out in the same off-season, so meh. But if we're going there: Gaborik has been loafing for three effing years & he absolutely deserves to be trapped in Ottawa. Someone on this team should have been in his ear every-single-day about his bull**** until he quit or played up to his skill set. It had to be a total downer in the locker room. And there is no way Stevens would have the AARP line together. Now, Dion was a talented young man who has played on some crappy, crappy teams. Pretty sure he's excited for the slight upgrade and his game may just be influenced. In my mind he's just delusional (game recognizes game) enough to try to make a difference here. And, I'll take that guy on my team every time.

Further sunny but fierce feelings about Dion, his goal in camp should be to steal Jake's job. And, hopefully(see above: delusional reference for both author and subject) by mid-season he will. Good luck big guy.

^^ Misses the point of Gabo having the greater chance of "retiring" via LTIR.

He would have to ratchet up whatever nastiness he is hiding by several notches . . . several, several notches.
