Like the dinosaurs of old.....extinction is on the way.

Enjoy the fights while they last.
Since being tracked they hit an all-time low of (0.22) per game last season. - according to Hockeyfights.

Enforcers used to be part of a coaching game plan to a degree, now they are not even in the conversation.
You need 4 lines that can score and a mobile defense. You can't sacrifice a roster spot for a goon.

Speed/skill and scoring is where the NHL is and will be headed. With the leagues parity, fighting is unnecessary, and some say a detriment when teams are so close.
Mix in CTE, and lawsuits...the sun is setting on fighting in the league. It looks to go the way players without helmets. It will be from a by-gone era.

Guys like MacDermid bring very little to the table in the modern NHL.

Will see def has slowed down in last year or two. I don't think the NHL will ban fighting completely. Hopefully guys like Haley, Reaves, Clifford, Mcleod,Watson, Wilson and few more keep the fighting alive in hockey. If Clifford didn't get rocked so much he would be dropping the gloves and fighting more often

Kings must see something in Macdermid signed for two more years and will see some NHL playing time

So I guess the consensus is that MacDermid isn't gong to be the next Willie Mitchell, right?

Somebody help me out on this-----I'm not clear on waiver rules.

Now that we've signed him again, if we send MacDermid down to Ontario, does he
have to clear waivers (he's played 3 seasons in the AHL)?

    Thanks for any reply.

    He has to clear.
The two year deal is designed to discourage teams from taking a flyer on him.

I believe a lot of that is more with management--they were trying to maintain waivers-eligibility for LaDue by limiting his games played in the first half of the season.
