People need to wake up and realize that consistent and/or severe head trauma/injuries alter one's mental state.

Joe is one of hundreds, if not more, current and former players that are, or are headed down this road.
Injuries that are severe, will require pain killing medication. The league is more than willing to provide this to its players to help them get out onto the ice ASAP.

However, brain damage, combined with opiates is a toxic combination.
Long term pain and concussion symptoms will lead to long term pain killer use which will unfold into drug addiction.

The damaged brain will lead to mental disabilities/issues, which when combined with drug abuse is an all too common problem that destroys a former player's life.

Keep in mind as you see and watch these stories, that the NHL and the NHLPA created this.
The NHL is currently fighting in court against any liability it has for brain injuries/concussions.

It's horrific. The league has no shame.
