At least Brown will setup in front of the net on the PP. absolutely nobody there tonight. Sharks pressured high all night knowing there was no threat down around the net.

    They will learn.
I want to see Kopi play with a 1st line talent for once

And this. Tough to play possession hockey with a giant black hole.

Time for him to go back to New York. I donít even care what the return is. Heíll, Iíd be Willing to eat some cap .

The minute he stopped running around crushing things, he became less interesting.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I thought Kovalchuk looked old, slow, stiff and confused last night. One game, of course.

Me too. Kopitar should actually benefit from the space created by having a real offensive threat on his wing.

This version of Kovalchuk is a notch or two below Gaborik in his early year and quarter here.

Gaborik played off of the puck, moving in and out on the weakside. Kovalchuk wants it all the time.

Both Kopitar and Kovalchuk play the kind of possession game that draws multiple defenders to them to open up lanes. Doesn't work unless someone is reading and cutting into those lanes, and that most certainly hasn't been.happening in preseason and one game.

Whether it can work will depend on how badly Kovalchuk wants to move off of the puck.

It may be better to ask Kopitar to modify his game to accommodate Kovalchuk’s skills. I’d like to see him explore moving into Gretzky’s old office more often. Kopi also has great neutral zone passing ability. Playing with 2 skill players like like 17 & 9 might be fun to watch — like Team Europe Kopi was.

Are you suggesting that Kopitar might score more if he played on a line with other skilled players?
    Preposterous.
