AHHYE Want to hear from a lesbian. Something Hacksaw actually said, and Rome ridiculed him for it for years.

As Rome got bigger and bigger and got syndicated, his show lost a lot of the bite that made it stand out. The Jungle turned into The Petting Zoo.

Both Rome and Hacksaw did Kings talk (post game talk show) in the early 90's, when the Kings were on the Mighty 690. Cool story from the '93 cup run regarding Jim Rome. At the time, he was still on the Mighty 690, but he would encourage athletes with a big game upcoming to call his show for "Karma". So, the day before the Kings played Toronto in the '93 Conference Final game 7, on his talk show he kept asking, if not begging, Wayne Gretzky to call his show for some good karma the next night. Gretzky, in fact, did call in (as he did a few times that spring if I recall), and the next night played what he called the greatest game of career, getting a hat trick to put the Kings into the SCF.

I know Fuhr's time was brutal here but I think Melrose just used him to mess with Hrudey's head as Melrose was really into Tony Robbins and the mind games angle. There was that one stretch where he played 5 games in a row and was really good. I thought Tsygurov* would be our next great dman but I will admit to him having the effort level of Petr Klima on a back check.

    Earl

*Just looked his last name up for proper spelling and saw he died at the age for 43, what a bummer.

Hacksaw was turning me into a Chargers fan, from a Rams fan. (never thought this was possible!)

Then he said something that pissed off SD mgnt, and he was gone and so was I.

Maybe the same thing that got him fired from The Minnesota Vikings Play by play job after 1 day!

"On top of that, after 11 years as being the Chargers play-by-play guy, he lasted all of ONE GAME with the Minnesota Vikings because he also happened to be an unrepentant racist. An African American newspaper exposed racist comments made by Hamilton on his talk show. The article was written by the father of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald."

here is a link to his first career obituary.

He was ahead of his time. Now he would be cherished if he said "I want to hear from a Lesbian"
