Wondering if the cost of buying a vowel goes against the salary cap?

It's gotta be for AHL depth, there's just no room for them. It's why they didn't offer Leipsic or Brodzy.

    Brown-Kopitar-Toffoli
    Grundstrom-Kempe-Carter
    Iafallo-Prokhorkin-Kovalchuk
    Clifford-Lewis-Wagner
    Luff-Amadio

    Forbort-Doughty
    Martinez-LaDue
    Roy-Walker
    MacDermid

(roster projections are from The Mayor's Manor)

Still with shots at making the team.

    Jad-Rasmus-Lizotte-Rempal-Frk forwards

    Ryan-Anderson-Clague-Brickley d-men

    Who slots in for whom?

    Thanks to Kingstorian:

On July 2, 2007, the Los Angeles Kings signed four unrestricted free agents: defenseman Tom Preissing (four years, $11 million), center Michal Handzus (four years, $16 million), and wingers Kyle Calder (two years, $5.5 million) and Ladislav Nagy (one-year, $3.75 million).

    Nice call, Grinder

Ha. I think they played a game on the reservation and caught more hands then they threw.

Here is a picture of Martin that may win you over, he looks like a good ôlocker room" guy to me.

There's no guarantee any defenseman you listed other than Doughty/Martinez/Forbort makes the Kings out of camp. LaDue/MacDermid aren't kids anymore and Ryan has played more NHL games than either of them. In fact he's only 6 under their combined total. Roy/Walker are still fine to clear waivers to start the season. I know Mayor loves LaDue and the fisticuffs fans love MacDermid but I wouldn't expect either of them to beat out Ryan for a spot.

As for the forwards, Wagner may have established himself on the 4th line last season but there's no reason to expect Luff to suddenly evolve into the kind of player the Kings love (and I love Luff). Grundstrom, Lizotte, Luff and Wagner are all in their very early 20s and don't need to clear waivers. Prokhorkin is a total question mark.

I don't see any reason the opening night roster won't have Ryan and can't have Frk on it.
