Pretty stunning to me, but probably not to the province of Ontario.

Nothing stuns Leafs fans anymore. This type of stuff is par for the course in Ontario.

Leafs are going to try the younger couch "new game/coaching" style coach route.

Well considering the in season firing has worked for 6 or so cups in the last 8 years.. Yeah I'd say it's worth a go

You don't change your head coach when you've won 4 out of 5 games and the team is finally implementing the system effectively. What they might do...might do...is leverage the relationship between McLellan and Babcock hire MB as an assistant/consulting coach in some capacity. I would suspect that his money from Toronto is guaranteed, so the offer is as follows: Come live at the beach and work with an old friend teaching youngsters the system you created.

The story has been confirmed by other sources. The rookie was Marner and he refused the first couple of times, but did not want to piss off Babcock more than he already was pissed off. The player at the bottom of the list was Kadri. It has been widely reported that the players HATED Babcock and did not want to play for him, in large part because of tactics like that.

I think a lot of what I read regarding these tactics revolved a lot around accountability through confrontation of the players. It also led to vets being washed out of the league by pretty nasty good byes. I'm sure there are some guys that thrived on it just like theres guys that just want to go play hockey.

Agreed. But that shiz is next level mind games. Not sure whether to hate Mike or respect his evil ways.

If WD posed the same question to Kempe or Luff last season, would they have answered? What would their list look like? Kovi, Kopi and Carter would have been the main focus. Would they in turn retreat inward or would it have fired them up?

    Bold. Ugly but bold.
