I wonder if the players have been asked: "You've always dreamed of skating with the Stanley Cup. Would that experience be diminished by doing it in front of an empty arena?"

The NHLPA has voted not to receive their final paycheque. Also, while not unanimous (some top teams not loving format), source tells me NHLPA will approve the 24-team playoff

Assuming the final 7 non-playoff team standings hold for draft purposes (who knows) it's amazing that this damn team went on a 7 game winning streak at the worst possible time. Jumping from 30th to 28th.

There's a few words that immediately come to mind for all of us die-hards. "Typical Kings. Idiots."

It was the final game (3-2 win over OTT) that did it. Lose that one and we are still in 30th. Yep, classic Kings luck.
The silver lining would be if the NHL went with one of the proposals to only select one team in the lottery so the worst we could do is fall back one position to 5th, since we all know that is where we would have ended up if we were picking 2nd. I also expect, just to really rub back luck in our faces, the team which was 30th to get the #1 overall pick when the lottery drawing happens.

On the bright side, at least we will have hockey again soon.

Do we have any idea of the latest draft positioning? I thought if this ridiculous 24 team playoff was official the worse the Kings can fall back is 5th? Maybe I'm wrong.

    Thanks in advance...

I think the worst they can do is 7th?

If the top 3 spots were rewarded to one of the 8 playoff teams that didn't move one, they would seed the remaining picks based on worst to best. So the Kings are sitting 4th now, would move them to 7th.

I think...I need to get my lawyer to decipher. I'm sure someone will pull together a scenario soon.

And the Kings trailed that game against Ottawa, 2-1, going into the third period. Somehow, I think that is REALLY going to matter in this lottery. It is possible that in falling from 2nd worst to 4th worst, the Kings may have fallen into the slot that gets the top pick (like NJ did last year). Or, they'll fall to 7th. We'll see.
