Jones, Heiskanen, Slavin, Hedman, McAvoy . . .

Doughty for any of these players, straight up. Who says no?

    Hint: The other team

I have to agree that he has fallen off the last 2 years. Is it the overall play of the team impacting his play? I certainly think that has a lot to do with it. Will the infusion of these highly talented young players bring his fire back? I think the team needs to sit down with him and evaluate if he can get back to that elite level, if not its time to move on and trade him while you can still get something of value. I believe Toronto would jump at the chance and we should jump at the chance to dump the salary if we can get the team to take it all.

I believe Doughty is pacing himself.

Good read on quantifying puck-moving defensemen.

Doughty is still among the best in the world at getting the puck out of his zone with possession. According to this chart he's #3 at Possession Exits per 60 minutes.

Imagine if he had some competent forwards to pass the puck to in transition...

Also or note: The only reason he didn't make the "Premiere" list is lack of Ozone entries. Considering who he's playing with it's not a surprising. DD has been stapled to his own zone, where he's still an elite D.
