I'd love Robinson Cano on the Dodgers. He's the most versatile player in the AL.

    Love,

    JM

p.s. Anyone have a sick feeling in their stomach that we're only a few days away from a horrible trade that will haunt The Dodgers for years?

joe (LA): should the dodgers be shopping kemp? seems like they're giving up on him really early.

SportsNation Keith law: (2:58 PM ET ) No, they shouldn't be shopping him. You can't rush a guy to the big leagues that quickly - and he sort of rushed himself by destroying the minors - and then expect him to be a finished product when he walks in the door. They can't all be incompetent baserunners and indifferent fielders like Proven Veteran Jeff Kent, you know.
    Yea, pretty much.

Well at least we can put to bed the Beltre rumors

    • Yo Adrian: Despite reports that the Twins have given up on their attempts to pry Adrian Beltre away from Seattle, we're hearing those discussions are far from dead. The Twins' No. 1 trading priority is to upgrade at third base. One team that reportedly has packed it in on Beltre is the Dodgers, after they learned that Beltre's no-trade list specifically blocks his return to Chavez Ravine.
    However...

    t taking on a contract."

    • Casey-mania: You can add the Dodgers to the list of teams interested in Casey Blake, who is beginning to look like the bat most likely to get traded in the next week.

    Beltre,

If Dodger fans could also enforce a no-trade clause, you would also be on it.

    Kthxbi.

I blame The Natural for Furcal's injury.

Yes. I do. I think Colletti is rapidly reaching the end of his rope with McCourt, and McCourt may be getting more antsy to put a winning team together now...essentially mortgaging the future somewhat to try and win this year.

Even if Furcal were still in the lineup, I don't think this team has a shot at making it past the division series. Without him, it will probably not make the playoffs, barring some heretofore unseen well of offense being tapped within the current roster. I don't think that the team is in a position where a couple small moves could build a club that can be successful deep into the playoffs, either.

I say Colletti should be playing things close-to-the-vest, and should only sell young assets in situations where the return is bonafide, bigtime, and long term. It's not the year for the Dodgers (after all :( ), but I also think the future is still bright if we keep things relatively intact.

Not that it has ever been confirmed by McCourt but I've read a few stories on trades Colletti has wanted to pull the trigger on being vetoed by Frank (Sabathia/Blake this year, Blanton last year). If he wasn't going to let Colletti kill the future for Sabathia/Blake I can't imagine he'd let him do it for Blake, Cano, Beltre, or any of those garbage Pirates.

I have little doubt the Dodgers will make a stupid trade, I just hope it isn't a disaster. If they are going to make a mistake I'd rather it involve Hu, not Kemp or Kershaw.
