Media forum has been going through all sorts of "cleansing" these days, but we all know LGK's finest will never back down!

You know, how does that old saying go: "Threads may come and threads may go, but metal is forever!" Yyyyeaaahhh.

Ok you all know the trick ... don't be a pussy and post anything metal-related here.

For starters, be creative. Creative as in, try not to talk about the new Morbid Angel album, eh?

...

**** it, I cannot resist. What is your take on the new Morbid Angel album?

I can't listen to it at work, but is that the Japanese band? I assume not, because the Japanese guys were very psychedelic rock-ish, but I haven't listened to them in a while, so... I dunno.

Rock and Roll is dead. It's all about dance music now, where you been?

ROCK is dead when they pull my lps/cassettes/8-tracks from my cold dead fingers. Rock isn't dead, it is just underground again like it was in the past...and one day It Shall Rise Up again and people will grow mullets and wear torn acid washed jeans and moccasin boots, and bandanas will be used for more than just tourniquets, bullet-belts and bad dragon earrings bought on Hollywood Boulevard in dingy storefronts will once again rule the world.

Just bought this on Amazon based on a song I heard on a sampler...Ohm Baba. Apparently from Seattle and ****ing catchy as hell

To oversimplify, it?s like this: panoramic rock ?n? roll fronted by a petite, beautiful Indian woman scat singing in Hindi. The cross-pollination is dizzying ? East and West, ancient and modern, pop and classical, ecstatic spiritualism and headbanging rock. The potential for Rusted Root-style world groove dilettantism arises and is crushed by the frontwoman?s chops. It?s hard to argue her authenticity. Her name is Mehnaz, and it turns out the Mumbai native is a big deal in India, having recorded a national pop hit in 1996. Now she?s working with a crew of veteran Seattle rockers in effort to do something truly unprecedented. It?s an ambitious project and a stylistic departure for a town very much rooted in rock ?n? roll tradition.?

Deep Purple's "Phoenix Rising" To Be Released On DVD, DVD/CD, And Blu-Ray In June | Rock News | Eddie Trunk (http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/429261/pid/400512)

On June 28th, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Deep Purple's "Phoenix Rising" ? a two-hour-plus revelatory documentary including 30 minutes of never-before-seen (not even on bootleg) onstage footage from Japan. "Phoenix Rising" will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and in a special two-disc DVD/CD package.

The release is cause for celebration amongst Purple fans due to the rarity of material. Extensive interviews with keyboardist Jon Lord and bassist Glenn Hughes tell the tale of a band caught by circumstance into one of its most controversial, extreme and exciting eras of its long career. Ian Gillan and Roger Glover were gone. A young unknown singer by the name of David Coverdale was recruited as was bassist Hughes. The results were the albums "Burn" and "Stormbringer" (both released in 1974). But then Ritchie Blackmore left the band. Against all odds, they rocked on, recruiting Tommy Bolin (from Zephyr and The James Gang). The album "Come Taste The Band" (1975) documents the short-lived Bolin era, an era that all came crashing down when the band announced in July of 1976 that it was breaking up. By December, Bolin would be dead due to a heroin overdose. Nine years of silence would ensue.

The never-before-seen 30 minutes, "Rises Over Japan," has the Coverdale/Lord/Bolin/Hughes/Paice lineup delivering the goods in 1976 on eight songs: "Burn," "Getting Tighter," "Love Child," "Smoke On The Water," "Lazy," "Homeward Strut," "You Keep On Moving" and "Stormbringer." (The double-disc package contains these eight songs on CD.) This segment is some of the only video footage that showcases Tommy Bolin performing in Deep Purple.

I took my brother 2 years ago to their Pomona show (Glass House?). They were really....loud :punk: Forgot who opened for them, it was a Norwegian group I think...

There's a bunch of stuff on that list that I should listen to. And yeah, that Tombs album is awesome! :wootrock:

Amazing. And, funny thing is, the METAL community is coming out hard against this. In my opinion this is the first relevant thing QR has done in years. It's sneaky seductive like Rage for Order. Very well produced and Geoff Tate's voice has not sounded this good in a long while. I will be listening to this a LOT.

Hell of an album and one of my top ten this year. IT'S THAT GOOD.

What is everybody's take on the new Hate Eternal? I thought their debut was awesome and among the heaviest in all of death metal. The new one? Way too modern sounding - click, click, thrown in a blender, and too modern sounding almost to the point of deathcore or whatever the popular genre is now. Really sucks because Rutan is such a talented musician and producer, and one hell of a guy I've chatted with before. I am sure he stands behind his work, but this new one..... not really for me.

I only heard a sample of the new album, truth be told i havent really payed attention to hate eternal since their second album (my screen name partly from that title) but it sounded really good to me. You should check out Nader Sadek with Steve Tucker and Flo Mounier as members it really has that old school death metal feeling to it. That band really makes me feel less upset about cryptopsy and the latest morbid angel album.

Opeth's recent performance at the Sonisphere festival in England was streamed live online. Awesome gig, below is the first song and if you want to watch the rest you can find it in the same Youtube channel. They only had 50 minutes though, which was enough for five Opeth songs ;)

They're a very cool live band. There's no real "show" or whatever, at first glance they can seem quite uninteresting on stage, but they perform the songs with such excellence it really makes it a great live experience.

On November 1st, Ace Frehley Wil Have "No Regrets" | Rock News | Eddie Trunk (http://eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/429853/pid/400512)

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will release his memoir "No Regrets" on November 1st. The 288 page book, co-authored by Joe Layden, will be published under Simon & Schuster/Gallery Books's VH1 Books imprint and can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com by clicking here.

Ace Frehley is known worldwide as the legendary original lead guitarist for the seminal rock band KISS and respected as a solo artist who has influenced generations of guitar players. KISS is known for its wild make-up, spectacular costumes, and theatrical live shows (not to mention their music). Frehley will delve into his life as a kid growing up in the Bronx, his ups-and-downs and influences which catapulted him into a life of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll, and reveal what is was like to be one of the founding members of one of the most influential bands in the world.

In its nearly four-decade existence, KISS has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, ranking among the top-selling rock-and-roll bands of all time. The KISS Army remains vast and devoted, buying merchandise and concert tickets at sellout shows that continue around the globe. Now, Ace Frehley, long regarded as the most approachable and likable member of the band, opens up about his unbelievable exploits as one of the founding members of KISS.

It all started in January of 1973, when this self-taught musician and Bronx native spotted an advertisement in the Village Voice posted by Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, and Gene Simmons: "Guitarist wanted with flash and balls." Frehley, figuring he had both, answered the ad, and the rest was history.

Within a few years, KISS was playing spectacular live shows to sold-out stadiums all over the world, decked out in their iconic costumes and makeup. The band was raking in millions of dollars on tours, albums, and merchandise, and the rabid KISS Army numbered in the six figures. Frehley, known as "The Spaceman," had transformed from a scrappy, music-obsessed kid to one of the most famous and revered guitarists of his era, hailed by critics and adored by fans. No Regrets goes behind the make-up, the money, the women, and the partying. Frehley recounts his battles with drug addiction and his brushes with death, sets the record straight about his complicated relationships with Simmons and Paul Stanley, and describes his evolution as a musician -- all with his characteristic humor and honesty. Without a doubt, No Regrets is a must-have for every KISS fan.

Ace Frehley said "I think Sinatra said it best...'regrets I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention.'"

Metallica Announces Special $6 Shows To Celebrate 30th Anniversary | Geeks of Doom (http://geeksofdoom.com/2011/07/29/metallica-announces-special-6-shows-to-celebrate-30th-anniversary/)

Thirty years of Metallica? can you believe it? We think it?s cause for a major celebration! You?ve been asking for a while now ?just what the hell are you going to do to mark 30 years as a band?? closely followed by ?why don?t we have more exclusive shows for Fan Club members?? We?ve heard you loud and clear and are beyond psyched to announce that the week of December 5, 2011 will be a full on Metallica week in the Bay Area, more specifically we will be playing four shows for Met Club members only at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on December 5, 7, 9, and 10 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. These unique shows will include special guests and events, rare songs, varied set lists, odds and ends, and all the nutty stuff you expect from Metallica? fun for the entire family! Come to the Bay Area and spend the week with us to not only close out 2011 out with a bang, but to celebrate over three decades worth of craziness.

Participate in the entire week of festivities with special four pack tickets (one ticket for each of the four shows) and automatic entry into the contests for various other special events, available for the clever price of $19.81 (get it??). If you can?t join us for the full week, we?ll have individual show tickets too and as you can see we?re going back to early ?80′s ticket pricing (but not the hair!)? single show tickets will be just $6.00 each. Both four packs and individual show tickets will be available for Fan Club members only through a reservation system and we do have to add facility fees, blah, blah. Clubbers can log in for all the details? we?re taking reservations through August 8.

Hope to see you for a week of madness in December!

Happy 60th Birthday To The Metal God Rob Halford! | Rock News | Eddie Trunk (http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/430397/pid/400512)

The Metal God Rob Halford turns 60 today August 25th. The singer and his bandmates celebrated "with a big 'Harley' cake plus a few gifts and cards when [they] were all together in Berlin," according to a posting on the group's official web site, reports blabbermouth.net.

Robert John Arthur Halford was born August 25th, 1951 in Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, England and raised in Walsall, England. Rob met Ian Hill through Halford's sister, and eventually teamed up with Hill, K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton in the band Judas Priest.

Michael Monroe Discusses His New Album, North American Tour, Vince Neil And Axl Rose | Rock News | Eddie Trunk (http://eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/pk/view/cd/NAA/cdid/430436/pid/400512)

Sleaze Roxx: When Hanoi Rocks disbanded the first time in 1985 how much of a role did Vince Neil play in that happening?

Michael Monroe: (long pause) There was a car accident where unfortunately our drummer (Razzle Dingley) was killed. That was one of the reasons that Hanoi Rocks disbanded. As far as Vince Neil I have nothing to say. It was an accident that surely all of us would like to put behind us already. I would never blame anybody for an accident -- you can't. What happened happened, and I can't change that. Everybody suffered from this and we'd like to put that behind us. Unfortunately for Hanoi Rocks we couldn't keep it together after that happened, it was major blow for everybody. Let me say this, it wasn't just that Razzle died, but Sami Yaffa left the band -- we had no bass player and no drummer. The band was so much like a family, we were so young and close, that with those key losses we couldn't keep it together after that.

Fairly magnanimous. I remember when it happened...HR was going to play the Palace and be huge!!!! Shame.

I had long hair from my early teens. Every chance my dad had, he would ask me when I was getting a hair cut and all that other stuff. When I was 28; I woke up one mornin...... um, afternoon, looked in the mirror, and basically said "Screw it, it's time." Got my head shaved and donated some 27 inches of my epic, Samson-like mane (which had graceful wave, no split ends; and was so naturally black, not even light could escaped its icy grip) to Locks of Love.

My dad's reaction? You guessed it.

Hahaha! When I was younger, I was fascinated by Primus mainly because of their album covers, but it was a while until I heard what they sounded like. And before that, I used to ask people what they sounded that, and for some wacky reason, some peeps said that they sounded like Country. confused:

Country? They dressed up as Penguins for corn sakes! Penguins suck! Primus sucks!

Rockers Gene Simmons has moved swiftly to end rumors of a full KISS reunion after he and guitarist Ace Frehley were spotted at lunch together on Monday.

The one-time feuding bandmates appeared to be on good terms as they dined in Los Angeles, but Simmons took to Twitter.com and urged fans not to read too much into the get together.

He writes, "Ace and I had nice, friendly lunch together today. It was wonderful to see him. He looked healthy and happy.

"Nothing else was talked about. No rumors, please. Ace and I are both happy with our lives and are not changing anything."

If any of you are into vinyl records, later today Enemies List is re-releasing DEATHCONSCIOUNESS by Have A Nice Life, one of the better heavy albums release in a long time. Buy or listen to it.

Yeah, I ordered the CDs from them when they came out. Are they still giving out the booklet with it? It's pretty crazy.

BLABBERMOUTH.NET - WAYNE STATIC: 'Pighammer' First-Week Sales Revealed (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=164536&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blabbermouth+%28Blabbermouth. net%27s+Daily+Headlines%29)

Static recently spoke to Revolver magazine about "Pighammer", which was released on October 4 via Dirthouse Records.

"I've wanted to do a solo album since 2000 when I was writing songs for the 'Machine' record," Wayne said. "Even in those early years of STATIC-X, there was a pattern emerging where I would spend all my free time writing songs for STATIC-X and the other guys in the band spent their free time working on their other projects. I was a bit jealous that they had time to do more than one thing, but, being the band's main songwriter, I knew that if I were to do a solo album, I would have to put STATIC-X on hold, and it wasn't until recently that I've been willing to do that. After the 2009 'Cult Of Static' touring cycle ended, I felt that, as a band, STATIC-X had accomplished everything we set out to accomplish, and now I could finally take the time to do my own thing and make a record that is completely my vision without compromising for anyone or anything."

When asked what he wanted to do differently with his solo project than what he has done with STATIC-X, Wayne said, "Mainly, I didn't want to compromise. Don't get me wrong: I love the great times I had with STATIC-X, but sometimes the writing/recording process was frustrating for me. I would spend months by myself writing and recording demos, then hand them over to the band, then we would rehearse for weeks during which time everyone changed parts and added their own ideas. By the end of the process, I always felt some of my original vision and passion was lost. This time I wrote and recorded everything on my own, playing all the instruments myself, and did not compromise with anyone."
