Hey guys, just wondering if we have any music/art nerds out there who would like to share works with other artists on the boards. (merge if there is an existing buried somewhere)

Figure why not throw this thread out there. It's always good to have a community to share your works and ideas around with! It can be anything from songwriting, to painting, your own band..poetry...what the **** ever! Just get in here! Don't be shy. Try to keep the criticisms to the constructive nature if there are any. This is peoples art we might be talking about here.

I'll start it off.

Personally I am trying to break in as a composer for T.V./Film/Video Games. Just building a portfolio of personal works. Pulling from my influences...like Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and John Powell. Working out of Sibelius6, Logic, and then using some nifty plug ins for the crisp orchestral stuff.

Stuff like this is pretty Elfman influenced..

It seems all the people I know who dig logic are composers.
I am looking at from more of a recording engineer or recordist (as
Albini would say) angle and Logic is not so nice.

Compatibility with everyone else along with ease of use are what I needed and Logic at the time was not friendly in those areas.

Well, I have worked with Ableton, ProTools, Digital Performer, and Logic...and I actually found that..with the way I do things...which is writing in Sibelius, exporting to logic, and then using EWQL plugins...it's about the most simple thing.

HOWEVER, I will say trying to do certain things on Logic is a pain in the ass, like...in note crescendos...and definitely making things sound a little more human rather then Midi. But I dunno I have come to ignore some of the little idiosyncrasies with Logic or found a way to work around them...and it works beautifully for me. Much less frustration then the evil empire of Digidesign and ProTools.

I'll get it on this. I'm not particularly talented when it comes to music or writing, but I do like to draw. I'm pretty limited as I'm not great at more realistic/lifelike stuff. I'm really quite fascinated by traditional tattoos. I love working with colors and shading, so that tends to be what I gravitate toward. I've also recently started designing custom tattoo designs for friends, which is kind of crazy.

yeah, i took a shot of it already on the wall with my phone, but it came out rather lousy... but here it is.

there isn't much going on in terms of context or intent other than a play with texture and light of three images that were taken roughly around 6" from each other... virtually the same area of a table in my in-law's backyard.

we just needed something to put on the walls in the house. those designers on TV tend to put either store-bought or quickfire abstractions up in people's homes, so i figured - why not just put my own.

Any writers in the house? I recently wrote my first short story. After helping the kids come up with scary story ideas a while back I decided to try one and really enjoyed the process of it and am looking forward to writing some more. I didn't win the contest nor did I expect to but one of the winners posted a short bio and a link to a site where you could see his work. It's a nice little site for anyone interested in writing or even reading for that matter. Authorstand.com is the site. Just be aware if you want to read the stories on the site you need to register, but that's free.

Finally saw it at the LA Diversity Film Festival where it won the audience award. It's a bit long and there are some dragging parts, like a random bonfire scene. Still pretty okay-ish.
