Apparently this happened on RAW tonight and Cameron is wondering why the ref won't count the pinfall.

Kevin Owens just went over Cena clean. Nice.

Definitely surprised Cena would put him over clean, though I had a feeling Owens would win since the US Title wasn't on the line. Unfortunately, they're doing a rematch in 2 weeks at MITB... most likely to give Cena the win back.

Elimination Chamber PPV was okay. Maybe slightly above average. If anything I couldn't help but feel... "This is HHH booking all over it and not Vince." Especially since we saw wrestlers like Bo Dallas, Neville, Owens, Lucha Dragons, Cesaro and Kidd. Hell, pretty much all of the NXT Season 1 guys were on the card minus Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, and Heath Slater. That's pretty amazing.

- The Tag Team Elimination Chamber match was fun with some unique spots.
- The IC Title Elimination Chamber match was terrible. Zero creativity in that match and they hardly used the chamber. It's kind of like how Hell in a Cell matches suck now because they barely use the actual cell as a weapon.
- Ambrose pinning Rollins was a surprise though the typical screwy finish didn't really make sense nor was it necessary. Ref knew Rollins pushed him so that Ambrose would hit him. Yet he gives Ambrose the DQ win but wants to keep the title on Rollins? If I was the ref, I would be upset that Rollins pushed me in harms way, and I would be happy he lost the title. Ambrose had shades of Stone Cold and Super Cena since he was able to pretty much win the match 4 on 1.

Wow, bad luck for Seth Rollins. He got injured during a house show with Kane in Ireland. =\

"@TheCoachESPN: BREAKING: Last night in Dublin, IRL, @WWE Champion @WWERollins suffered right ACL/MCL/medial meniscus tears; out 6-9 months."

"@TheCoachESPN: .@WWE to hold tournament at #SurvivorSeries (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=SurvivorSeries) to crown a new #WWE (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=WWE) World Heavyweight Champion."

Dave Meltzer speculated on today's installment of Wrestling Observer Live that Roman Reigns is a strong candidate to capture the WWE title at Survivor Series. Meltzer also talked about the company possibly bringing back John Cena or Brock Lesnar earlier than scheduled.

In regards to Sheamus capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he said it's not very likely.

It's definitely the perfect time to put it on Ambrose and make him the top heel while Rollins is out. They could even make a story out of it about how Reigns may have been the most powerful Shield member but he's the only one not to hold the WWE Title. I would like to see Bray carry a title for a change too. Are they putting the Wyatt family in a Traditional Survivor Series match against Taker, Kane, and whoever? If so, that rules him out.

all signs point to Wyatt being in a traditional Survivor Series match, so yeah it looks like he is out, hadn't thought about that wrinkle.

the way the bracket is playing out, it's going to be Reigns/Ambrose and it would be great to see Ambrose turn heel and have Rollins comeback as a babyface

The sad truth about Daniel Bryan and why he's not cleared to wrestle. =\

http://www.inquisitr.com/2578504/wwe-rumor-internal-politics-preventing-daniel-bryan-from-returning-to-the-ring/#Lyk0jvIDi0gAo4CE.99

“If [Daniel Bryan] is cleared, as far as when they bring him back, [internal politics] be an issue. The problem is that, with any other wrestler who is at his level, if he was cleared you’d bring him back. But with him, because of the fan-base, and because Daniel Bryan’s popularity screwed up two WrestleManias in a row in their minds, with their plans, you have to be careful about bringing him back, especially this year, where the goal is to make up for what he screwed up last year, and if WWE brings him back now, he’ll screw up this year’s plans too.”

Wrestlemania 27 - Had a match with Sheamus for the US Title. It was a Pre-Show match.
Wrestlemania 28 - Had another match with Sheamus, this time for the World Heavyweight Title. Both of these guys were ready to steal the show. Instead, they made Daniel Bryan lose in 18 seconds when everyone was looking forward to the match.
Wrestlemania 29 - In a program with Kane and Team Hell No. But he was rising more and more in popularity.
Wrestlemania 30 - WWE wanted Batista to have a title run because he signed a short term deal and was promised that. When he won the Rumble, fans were pissed. They had no choice but to rework the story and had Daniel Bryan beat HHH in the first match and then had him win at in the main event over Batista and Orton to capture the World Heavyweight Title.
Wrestlemania 31 - Ladder match for the IC Title for Daniel Bryan. WWE instead wanted Roman Reigns to win the WWE Title over Brock Lesnar. Due to more fan backlash, WWE decided against giving Roman the title and instead allowed Seth Rollins to cash in the Money in the Bank contract to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Now look how thin the roster is. Rollins, Cesaro, and Orton are out due to injury. Cena is gone for 2-3 months because he is working on a reality show for Fox. All the other wrestlers not mentioned are booked extremely poorly or not used on TV at all. Perfect time to bring Daniel Bryan back right? After reading that article.. guess not. =\ He would definitely ruin the WM card again because Roman Reigns will win the WWE Title and Vince is making damn sure this happens.

Sorry, didn't clarify. They put him in the IC Title picture to keep him out of the WWE Heavyweight Title scene. Fans know he deserves to main event, but when Steph called him a "B+ player" during a storyline, they really did mean it by putting the IC Title on him instead.

My favorite PPV of the year is tonight. The Royal Rumble!!

First time ever that a WWE Champion (Roman Reigns) is defending the WWE Title in the Royal Rumble match itself and is entering at #1. (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1.) Kind of sucks they had to play it this way because it makes it all too predictable. Either he's going to win it or HHH will. Other favorites are Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar.

AJ Styles might enter the Rumble and that would be badass. For years I've always wanted him and Samoa Joe to be in the WWE and now here they both are.

Okay he didn't do much but lasted awhile. Probably a trial as he really hasn't worked with most of these guys yet. But I loved the pop he got from the crowd

So we've got hhh vs reigns for wrestlemania?

Seeing AJ Styles finally make his debut in the WWE was awesome! Love the pop he got from the crowd. He had some eliminations early on but didn't do much overall. I believe Jericho lasted the longest in this year's Rumble (well, technically Roman but he missed half the match). Kind of wish they gave someone else that "spotlight" for lasting longer. Jericho didn't need that. I also marked out for Sami Zayn entering the Rumble at #20. (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=20.)

As I said in my previous post, it would either be HHH or Roman winning and HHH is the WWE Champ =x

With everyone else injured... Seth Rollins, John Cena, Cesaro, Randy Orton, Wade Barrett, Sting, and Daniel Bryan... they really have no choice but to stick with Roman Reigns vs HHH for Wrestlemania. I just kind of wish they could have that match WITHOUT the WWE Title on the line. Would it kill them to finally put Ambrose, Owens, Bray Wyatt, or anyone else over? But WWE likes to stick with their safe and predictable formula. It's just how they roll and they don't care what we think.

The Ambrose/Owens Last Man Standing match to open the PPV was amazing. Usually they're slow paced and quite frankly... boring. But this one was awesome. Lots of good spots and the pacing was great throughout the match. I also really enjoyed the Divas Title match. When you actually give these NXT divas, the ones who can actually wrestle a chance.. it's amazing. Hell, the match of the year last year was the NXT Brooklyn PPV between Bayley and Sasha Banks. For anyone who still haven't seen that match, do it!

As for the Rumble match, the logic was annoying as usual. If everyone ganged up on Roman and threw him out, we would have a new champ. But noooo. Let's have him rest in a corner. Then when the League of Nations attacked him, they laid him out and let him go to the back to rest up? Are you kidding me? Why not throw him back in the ring, and eliminate him? Then Roman conveniently comes back out right before HHH enters at #30. (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=30.) Yep... okay.

Same thing with the Wyatt family. They dominated most of the rumble. Braun, Luke, and Erick get thrown out before Bray enters. Yet they all jumped back in to eliminate Brock. So why doesn't Brock just jump back in and eliminate Bray? Instead, he quietly walks to the back instead of raging.

But all in all, it was still a fun PPV to watch. This is now the 3rd straight Rumble match where they give the smarks the big FU when deciding the winner. But still, anyone winning the WWE Title is still better than Roman.

I thought that exact same thing, and figured he would have as he slowly walked by Heyman before leaving.

Also, when Reigns came back, he just smacked Seamus before Seamus was even in the ring. Why not wait until he at least is in the ring then have Reigns come in and raise hell before Triple H?

I would've loved to have Styles be that last guy instead of Ambrose who got some 1 on 1 time with Triple H. Crowd would've eaten it up. You could then set up a feud with just about anyone by having them jump in and eliminate Styles. Or have 3 people and have Styles/whoever eliminate themselves together in some crazy fashion. Triple H would still get the title. I say that mostly just because Ambrose already had a great match.

I didn't realize the extent of the injuries (still getting back into my wrestling habits from long, long ago). You could almost have a royal rumble just with those guys.

I also spent time watching Wrestlemania 9 on the WWE network this weekend. Very nostalgic for me as my dad took me to it at caesar's palace when I was growing up. I miss Bobby Heenan

Yeah, the camera crew has been pretty terrible and I don't know if it's intentional or not.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8FrpWIWj9o

I notice that at this year's rumble the wrestlers did a good job of not eliminating anyone when the clock is counting down to the last 5 seconds and they give the camera time to focus on who is coming out next. But then when Roman got attacked ringside by The League of Nation, the camera focused too much on that alone and ignored the people in the ring. I kind of wish they would quickly do a split screen so we can watch both at the same time. That caused us to miss the Kofi elimination, which was pretty weak overall.

The guy is suppose to be a pro at saving himself yet all he did this year was have Big E catch him, put him on his shoulders, and they paraded around the ring for like a minute before Jericho kicked Kofi off of Big E's shoulders.

As for RAW last night, I caught some of the AJ Styles vs Jericho match when I got home. I think Jericho is too slow for AJ. Maybe if we see Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose, or even Neville vs AJ Styles.. that would be amazing stuff. And the Rock doing his 25-30 minute bit with The Miz, Big Show, Lana, Rusev, and New Day was fun as always. The rest was pretty forgettable.

so a triple threat with reigns/ambrose/lesnar. Do we not think the wyatts will get involved with lesnar, possibly the league of nations again with reigns, and ____ with ambrose? Could be a decent match if they let it be, but I had already assumed it was Reigns/HHH at wrestlemania.

But seriously, the guy who thought the rumble was a ladder match? That was pretty hilarious.

That was a beautiful segment for Daniel Bryan. He didn't show up until the 11 PM hour but they gave him 25 minutes. When RAW went off the air and you had to tune in to the WWE Network to watch more of it, you could see that Vince was even crying on the stage. I guess he genuinely does care about the health and well being of Daniel Bryan.

The theme of his speech was about being grateful. I'm personally grateful to have been able to see him wrestle live on numerous occasions. My fondest memory would be the WWE Championship match at Summerslam back in 2013 when it was at Staples. He deserves it.

On a random wrestling note... I've finally decided to watch Lucha Underground. I keep hearing good things about it and how there is a "payout" at the end of a season. Plus, the whole Season 1 and Season 2 thing does sound strange as hell for a wrestling show. So that's also why I decided to check it out.

It's hard to find episodes online but there is a Youtube channel called Lion Wrestling Videos. While he can't upload the whole episode or else it'll get taken down... he uploads clips of pretty much everything. He has a playlist for each episode and will have the match in its entirety, including promos. The only thing he cuts out are entrances, which is fine.

I'm only 15 episodes in so far and I have to say, it's pretty neat. I've always liked Matt Striker on commentary when he was with the WWE. He's very knowledgeable and even mentions WWE wrestlers without saying WWE. My only complaint about the commentary though is that he and Vampiro keep mentioning how Lucha Underground is the only place to see things like this. It kind of rubs me the wrong way and it feels like they have a inferiority complex going on.

The wrestling itself is fun. Each wrestler has a chance to shine... which is something we will never see in the WWE. You even got Chavo Guerrero looking like a monster. That says a lot! I also think it's really cool to have the female wrestlers like Sexy Star and Ivelisse (from Tough Enough) wrestle dudes. While it's kind of believable that they can attack the dudes, they also take their bumps. It's also cool to see former WWE stars like Johnny Mundo (John Morrison), Big Ryck (Ezekiel Jackson), Chavo Guerrero, Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio). And I know Rey Mysterio is in Season 2 but I'm not there yet.

Their arena is small though and the crowd sits really close to the action with no barricades. It's a little crazy and dangerous to see these wrestlers set up tables, suicide dives, etc about 2 feet away from the crowd.

Overall, it's fun to watch. I still prefer WWE in general though mainly because I'm not that big of a fan of indies. While the wrestlers are all extremely talented in Lucha Underground, part of the fun is sucked out when everyone is doing all these insane moves like 650 splashes, double moonsault, exploder suplexes, tombstone sitdown piledrivers, etc. The point of wrestling for me is for it to tell a good story, and you use the big moves to finish someone off. If you see it all match long, it makes the finishers look weak.

NXT Takeover Dallas on April 1st. 10 Eastern/7 Pacific. I'm way more excited for that compared to Wrestlemania.

So far the line up is...

Austin Aries vs Baron Corbin
Apollo Crews vs Elias Samson
NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) (c) vs American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable)
Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura
NXT Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Asuka
NXT Championship: Finn B?lor (c) vs. Samoa Joe

The only obvious thing is that Sami Zayn is losing because he's already promoted to the main roster as of 2 weeks ago. Plus, there is no way Shinsuke Nakamura is losing his debut match. I think the same can be said for Austin Aries who left TNA for NXT.

So the Undertaker vs Shane McMahon Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania seems kind of sloppy to me. Is it just me or could it have been written and worded better?

If Shane wins, he gains control of RAW. Keyword... RAW. Not WWE. However, they have implied that RAW is essentially WWE, so that means The Authority is done with and that they wouldn't even exist for Smackdown. Then last night on RAW, Vince says that if Undertaker loses, that's the last Wrestlemania he'll ever wrestle at.

And that is where I roll my eyes because technically if Shane wins, he's in control of WWE. So he could just allow Undertaker to continue wrestling, which makes Vince's stipulation mean nothing. I swear... logic.

Plus, I'm not a fan of Undertaker not giving a reason as to why he's even "helping" Vince. If anything, Vince has said that Undertaker is pretty much his bitch. I can see Taker losing this match since he already has a loss to his name. What's one more at this point? The luster of him being undefeated is done with, which was still a mistake in my opinion. Obviously Shane won't beat him clean. My best guess would be an NXT invasion of sorts, or the Bullet Club will make their debut and help Shane.

LetTigerIn
March 22nd, 2016, 10:18 AM
I completely agree about the Taker vs Shane match buildup.

I also don't like the way they are handling Roman Reigns vs HHH, and it doesn't seem like their fans do, either.

My two cents, in general, on WWE right now: it's been a long time since the Monday night wars, and WWE has absolutely no peer right now. They seem to be operating more on the fear of losing old fans than gaining new ones, though they do seem to have made some minor concessions in recent years. IMO, they can afford to change the product a lot more, but, then again, it's much easier for me to say that with nothing on the line.

Oh, and don't forget about Sting as the potential wildcard in the Taker vs Shane match.

Final Wrestlemania 32 Card with my thoughts and predictions.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match - Roman Reigns vs. Triple H (C)

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Putting this match on last is a mistake. What I wish to happen is that fans just simply walk out on this match. That's the best way to send a message because they're clearly tone deaf when people constantly boo Roman and they ignore it. They continue to shove Roman down our throats and book him as the "underdog" when quite frankly, no one cares. Ideally, I'd like HHH to retain just for ****s and giggles. But I think Roman wins here and gets booed out the building.

Hell In a Cell - Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker
If Shane wins, he controls RAW. If Undertaker loses, this is his last Wrestlemania.

Shane has to win this. It's the only way WWE moves forward with the story without the authority. If Taker was still undefeated, this choice would have been harder to make. Undertaker mentioned his legacy at Wrestlemania and how he won't lose but Shane made a good point when he said that his legacy died 2 years ago. Undertaker finishing 22-2... that'll work. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow booked it so that Taker finishes 22-1-1. Either way, expect a crapton of outside interference, even though they're suppose to be trapped inside the cell.

Shane jumping off the turnbuckle onto the announce table on RAW shows that he's still got it and I think he's going to do something crazier with the Cell. If the Bullet Club is going to debut, it's going to be here. We'll see.

No Holds Barred Street Fight - Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar

This match should be fun. Mick Foley gave Dean Ambrose a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. You know that will come into play. Terry Funk also gave Dean a chainsaw but you know that won't come into play... If there is ever match that could have a flaming table, it'll be this one. It would be nice if Dean Ambrose won though. It would really put him over as someone who is bat **** insane. But I think he'll lose, but still hopefully look strong in the loss.

Triple Threat for the WWE Divas Championship - Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte (C)

If Vince is willing to give these former NXT Divas at least 15-20 minutes, they may very well steal the show. It's pretty obvious that Sasha Banks is walking out of Wrestlemania as the Divas Champion. This might very well be the only match that has actual wrestling in it.

Ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship - Kevin Owens (C) vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder vs. Stardust vs. Sami Zayn vs. Sin Cara vs. The Miz

This is where the writers and booking team sucks. Zero creativity because we had this EXACT SAME MATCH last year with Daniel Bryan winning. What's unfortunate is that Neville got injured a few weeks ago or else he would have been in this match. I like Zack Ryder, Stardust, and Sin Cara. They definitely deserve to be on the card but because they're so poorly booked, people don't care that they're in this match. There's no chance in hell of them winning. I can see Kevin Owens retaining here but if I had my way, I'd put the IC Title on Sami Zayn. Then he and Kevin Owens can continue their feud from NXT. This match should have been Owens vs Zayn. Give them 20-25 minutes together and it'll be a match of the year candidate.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match - League of Nations (Sheamus, Rusev, King Barrett and Alberto Del Rio) vs. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) (C)

I'm not exactly sure what format they're using here. Are they going with the traditional 2 on 2 match with the extra members at ringside? Or are they doing 3 on 3? Either way, the titles are on the line and the idea behind this feud is that for once, The New Day don't have the numbers gain. It's hard to take The League of Nations seriously when they have Roman Reigns single-handedly destroy all 4 of these guys with ease. The New Day are now officially faces as well and I think it's a mistake to take the titles off of them. Let them continue their reign with the Tag Titles and then have them eventually drop it to the Dudley Boyz or a NXT tag team.

Eva Marie, Paige, Natalya, Alicia Fox and Brie Bella vs. Lana, Tamina Snuka, Naomi, Summer Rae and Emma

This match is just to promote Total Divas. I don't know if Lana can even wrestle but she had been training a bit. Overall, this match is pointless. It's also Brie Bella's final match with the WWE. I guess with Daniel Bryan being forced to retire, she is retiring to spend time with him. Plus, Daniel also mentioned that they want to start a family very soon anyway. I can see Brie winning with the Yes Lock, just for a cheap pop. I can also see Eva Marie tagging herself in to get the pinfall victory, then acting like she was the reason her team won. The crowd is going to crap all over Eva Marie, which is unfortunate because she has been working hard down at NXT but it's "cool" to chant "You can't wrestle" at her.

WWE United States Championship Match - Ryback vs. Kalisto (C)

This is the bathroom break match for Wrestlemania. WWE seems to be giving Ryback yet another push. I don't hate Ryback. I just think he's boring and I think people know he's boring too. But they like to chant "Feed me more" and "Goldberg" anyway. This time, Ryback is a heel and only cares about himself. I don't see this match going more than 5 minutes. It was nice for Kalisto to beat Del Rio for the US Title, but as usual... poor booking led to no storyline/feud for Kalisto. Just give Ryback the US Title here and have Kalisto reunite with Sin Cara for a run at the Tag Titles.

One other thing I wanted to mention is that this match should have been the 7 man ladder match. The IC Title should have been Owens vs Zayn only. But whatever I guess.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

I'm surprised they went with this match given that AJ Styles already beat Jericho 2 out of 3 times. Jericho has a piss-poor Wrestlemania record (4-8) and this Wrestlemania will be no different. We all know Jericho is just the guy to put the other guy over. WWE will never mention Jericho's record though.. ;) Either way, AJ Styles wins.

Third Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Pretty much everyone who doesn't have a match will be in this one. This match is unimportant, because the winner gets... nothing. They get to pose next to a trophy and that's about it. Cesaro won the first year but he's injured. Big Show won last year just to put over the fact that he's like Andre The Giant. No idea who wins here because it doesn't matter. But for the sake of guessing a winner... I'll say one of the Social Outcast members will win.

The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz

Dudley Boyz turned heel and don't use tables anymore. I could have sworn they done this before... Anyway, I think The Usos are winning this just because the Dudley Boyz have had the upper hand on them for weeks. Plus, just to make the fans happy, I can see The Usos putting the Dudley Boyz through a table.

-----------------------------------------

So there ya have it. Wrestlemania 32. Outside of Shane vs Taker and Dean vs Brock, it's a weak card. The IC Title Ladder Match should be fun just because of spots. Those spots are the ones that create Wrestlemania moments. The Triple Threat Divas Title match should be awesome too if given enough time. While I'll watch Wrestlemania regardless of the card, I'm still very much looking forward to NXT Takeover Dallas on Friday night over Wrestlemania. Thanks for reading and I'd love to read your thoughts and predictions as well if you got the time to post!

I think Shane and Taker should be the main event on the card.

I still hate what they've done with Roman leading up to the match. Forget for a moment that he gets booed every time he shows up; but it seems like they are trying to make him out to be a Stone-Cold-style authority-bucking babyface, and they are failing. Instead, he just seems like a poor sport, hothead and bully. This is doing him no favors in terms of popularity, I'm sure. I'm not sure if the writers are simply trying to keep the show "adult," if they're trying to recapture the "Attitude" era, or whether it's something else, but I would really love to see a bonafide old-fashioned babyface among the top contenders for the title.

I expect the tag championship match to be good. Most of those involved are very, very good in-ring, especially Kofi and del Rio. I wouldn't complain if the match ended up being mostly about them.

Dean and Brock. Funny thing is I like both these guys, but I'm not looking forward to this match, necessarily. Could be fun, but I think it's a misuse of these two. Feels like more of the fallout from all the injuries.

Sasha vs Becky vs Charlotte. This had better be as good or better than Sasha vs Bailey, which was a show-stealer. This is biggest chance so far to truly bring women's wrestling in the WWE to a new plateau, so I hope they pull it off. I'm rooting for this one.

The Ladder Match. I agree I'd much rather see Zayn vs Owens. TooCool, if you watched more indie wrestling, you'd have seen these two in top form. Even now, and even in WWE, though, that match might have stolen the card even moreso than the ladies triple threat. As it stands, though, should still be a solid match and still has a chance to steal the show. Man, the WWE really misuses Ziggler, IMO. I think he's much better than he gets the chance to be. I didn't watch wrestling through his years on top, though, so my perspective could be way off.

Total Divas vs BAD and Blonde. This looks lopsided toward Divas team to me.

Ryback vs Kalisto. I am on board with the TC take. I'll add that Kalisto has really done well as a single and deserved his run with the strap.

Styles vs Jericho. I really like AJ Styles. And I love Jericho, too. Clearly, Jericho's not the same in-ring as he was, but, oops, neither is AJ Styles. Plus, yeah, they did already have their rubber match. Even though neither is in their prime, Styles seems to have much more in the wrestling tank, and I'd have preferred to see him against someone else.

Did you ever notice in a Battle Royal how much time everyone spends punching and kicking instead of actually trying to get their opponent over the top rope, which is the goal of the whole thing? This reminds me that TNA recently had a "Gauntlet" match that sounded at first like it was going to be something really cool, but turned out to just be a mini-Royal-Rumble.

Somehow I don't think this roster's being used to its fullest potential.

I enjoyed reading your assessment of the card, TC. Clearly it loosened some of the rusty gears in my head.

So apparently the Tag Titles aren't even on the line anymore. It's just a 4 on 3 handicap match. That's kind of dumb.. especially since it's Wrestlemania.

If only. I only started watching again last year, but I was really impressed with Seth Rollins.

Even with the handicap stipulation, they could have still decreed the titles on the line. Turrible.

Unpredictable Wrestlemania!

Man, it feels like it was poorly booked (as usual) rather than unpredictable. I think I made my picks based on what I want rather than what would happen.

The PPV itself was... underwhelming. Maybe because it was 5 hours long... (7 if you counted the 2 hour Pre-Show) Or maybe because the weak card showed. NXT Takeover Dallas was definitely way better overall. For anyone reading this and haven't checked out the Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn match... do it! That match is the sole reason why I love wrestling so damn much.

As for Wrestlemania, here are my thoughts.

Roman vs HHH - Yawn. You want to know why people will continue to hate Roman? It's because they keep shoving him down our throats. It's because they keep using the same tired story line of one man overcoming all odds to win. Does Super Cena ring a bell? That's Roman Reigns in a nutshell, minus the mic skills. Reports said that Vince cut the crowd sounds off near the end of the match which is pretty pathetic. He was booed heavily but they turned up the commentator's volume and lowered the crowd noise. When Roman won the match, you could see a handful of people clapping but when you actually try to listen to the crowd, you don't hear much. You can't tell if they're cheering or booing because they're muted.

That's where my biggest gripe lies. Piped in crowd noise. It's so blatant that it makes Smackdown pretty unwatchable for me. Then the video packages.. they typically do a great job but it bugged the hell out of me when HHH was clearly cheered for beating up Roman on RAW, and yet in the video package you hear boos. I mean, come on Vince. Get a grip.

The thing about wrestling is that everyone who grew up watching it were only programmed to do two things. Cheer for the good guy and boo the bad guy. Simple right? But here's the thing... the Attitude Era changed things. We were rooting for Stone Cold because why the hell not? We cheered DX when they were bad. Times has changed and yet it seems like Vince is trying to make the crowd cheer for a certain wrestler no matter what. You can't have it both ways.

Anyway as for the other matches...

IC Title Ladder Match - Very happy for Zack Ryder. I marked out when he won because I didn't think he had a chance in hell. This is about 4-5 years too late but better late than never right? It's probably a reward for him for not complaining and showing up for work day in and day out. After all, he even goes down to NXT to get more work in and team up with Mojo Rawley. So it's great to see him get rewarded (finally) for working hard. However, while it's a nice reward to give him the IC Title, I think Kevin Owens will probably squash him in a rematch. Then KO can go on to feud with Sami Zayn and/or AJ Styles.

Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar - This one is probably the most disappointing match of the night. They couldn't do too much because they couldn't overshadow the Shane/Taker match and they can't bleed because of PG. Dean also didn't really get a chance to shine here either. Even with weapons in play, Dean hardly got in any offense.

Shane vs Undertaker - Above average match but great spots. We all knew this would be a slow match and it was more of a "What is Shane going to do?" When you think about it, it's pretty crazy that it's the owner's son that is doing all these death defying moves. Jumping off the top of the cell and onto the announce table is no joke. As a fan, you never want to see anyone get hurt yet you want these moments to happen because it's freaking bad ass. I didn't like the stipulation going into this match because Shane losing made this match pointless. Had he won, he would have gained control of WWE. And after that match.. well it's back to the same old ****. Storyline wise, supposedly Shane has dirt on Vince. So who knows if they'll bring it up again.

Triple Threat Women's Title Match - This match stole the show. Great action for all 3 ladies. I wanted Sasha Banks to win but you seriously can't go wrong with any of these Divas. All 3 of them can wrestle. Just wait until Bayley and Asuka get called up. That should be really fun.

New Day vs League of Nations - Had a feeling New Day would lose just because it's not a title match. This is where the booking ticks me off too. The New Day are completely over with the crowd. They got their special Booty O's entrance and everyone just can't get enough of them. So what do you have them do? Why lose the match and then have them become the butt end of a joke by having Xavier Woods eat the stunner.

That brings me to my final complaint about the PPV. Attitude era superstars. It's fun to see Mick Foley, Stone Cold, HBK and The Rock. It's always a fun time. But when you bring them in to make the CURRENT stars look bad every single time, that is where you're hurting yourself. 3 legends, beating up The League of Nations like it's nothing. Then you have The Rock beating Erick Rowan in 6 seconds just to set a meaningless record. On top of that, you have The Rock and John Cena make short work of Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. When you have all these old wrestlers come in and making a fool out of them, how are we suppose to take them seriously? That's the biggest flaw with WWE right now.

As for the rest of the card, it was extremely forgettable. They all deserve better. RAW should be fun tonight, but only because of the post Wrestlemania crowd. I believe we're suppose to expect the debut of the Bullet Club and even Samoa Joe. After that, I don't know what's in store but I'm sure it's the same old ****.

I thought about canceling my WWE Network subscription after WM because nothing will ever change. I have finally seen the light. But when I think about missing NXT if I cancel, that is going to suck. My subscription renewed on March 30th though.. so I'll see how their Extreme Rules PPV is. I'm thinking I'll just cancel it and then resubscribe when the next NXT Takeover PPV happens in a few months.

So....Raw

I loved during Reigns' appearance the announcers saying Dallas is a backwards town, they boo who usually gets cheered and cheer who gets booed. Seems pretty solid. I also liked Reigns looking like he was going to cry. But the "come on guys. I'm not a bad guy, i'm not a good guy, i'm just THE guy". I don't know I actually like Reigns. Just let him start plowing through guys, but geez don't make him talk too much. He had to be saved by Jericho who at this point sounds better on the mic.

Speaking of which, if you're going to have Styles win the fatal four way to become #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contender, what was the point of him losing to Jericho at wrestlemania? He couldn't beat Jericho but now he's the #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contender? Way to build him up (I like Styles a lot, but credit jericho for referring to him as the "internet favorite"). Styles now however just seems like the first guy that Reigns will utterly destroy to build him up, doing no favors to his credibility. (or they just have Jericho interfere setting up a rematch with Styles)

After all that, Vince gives Shane control of Raw for a night to prove what a disaster it will be. Did Shane really do anything other than set up the fatal four way?

Is HHH on vacation now?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I actually hated this segment mainly because I found it insulting. When they opened RAW, they just *had* to remind the casual audience that the post Wrestlemania crowd is a backwards town and how we should pay no attention to them. They claim that people will boo the people who are normally cheered (wrong) and cheer the people who are normally booed (also wrong). They're genuinely insulting the fans who buy their tickets because they want to have a voice.

So when Roman came out and fans were booing him, they were pretending like he never got booed in his life. I mean, seriously? As for Roman's line about how he's not a bad guy, not a good guy, but *the* guy... I think it would have more meaning if JBL didn't already say that exact same line about him at Wrestlemania the night before. Maybe it's just me but it feels like rather than just turn Roman heel, they're going to go the John Cena route. The "super human, against all odds" kind of guy who will do whatever he wants I guess.

You're right and I think we can all agree that the WWE needs to stop having to much mic time. Give him a manager or something. For someone like him, less is more.

This is that dreaded 50/50 booking that no one likes about the WWE. They can talk about change all they want, but when you book things 50/50 it makes the PPVs meaningless. Pretty much everything they did wrong at Wrestlemania, they tried to fix with RAW. What they should really have done was booked Wrestlemania correctly and we wouldn't have this issue.

I totally agree with you about AJ Styles losing to Jericho at Wrestlemania and how I didn't like it.. I said in my predictions post that Jericho hardly wins at Wrestlemania. Now I'm not saying he's not allowed to win at Mania but we all know that he's the guy who put people over and that's completely fine. Just a few Wrestlemania's ago, he even put over Fandango and look what the writers/bookers made him do now. They turned Fandango into a jobber. The WM match between the two was pointless to begin with since AJ Styles took 2 out of 3 already from Jericho. So to have Jericho win at Mania, only to lose the night after to the same guy? Yep. 50/50 booking at its finest and that's why people can't get over. And like you said... they're just going to feed AJ Styles to Roman which will suck.

Also the dirt sheets say that Roman is going to hold the WWE Title until Summerslam which is understandable because he previous 2 title reigns were ridiculously short. It's hard to believe that he's already a 3 time WWE Champ. Yikes.

And more on the 50/50 booking real quick. League of Nations beating New Day at Mania. What happened? New Day won in a rematch last night. The same for Usos/Dudley Boyz and even Ryder/Miz (since Ryder shoved Miz off the ladder to win), they give it to the Miz to return the favor. This kind of booking needs to stop because it hurts everyone.

After all that, Vince gives Shane control of Raw for a night to prove what a disaster it will be. Did Shane really do anything other than set up the fatal four way?

Is HHH on vacation now?

It's funny how when the product in real life is going down in flames because Vince is out of touch he won't admit it. But when story line wise, he hands it over to Shane for the night.. he wants to see it fall apart. :fpalm:

Shane didn't really do much other than bring in all the NXT guys. My best guess would be that he's actually doing a lot by not actually taking up all the TV time that HHH and Steph likes to do. Having NXT guys like Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Enzo and Cass debut makes it seem like Shane is giving them a chance. Hell, he even had Cesaro make his return. (By the way, having him return to a massive pop like that, only for him to lose in the main event was stupid too.)

I can see what you mean about him setting up the Fatal Four Way. Supposedly, Vince and the authority doesn't want Roman as the champ. So since Shane made the Fatal Four Way and AJ Styles is the #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) Contender... they could have Vince say that Shane failed in stopping the Roman Empire and how we need the Authority to stop him and all that nonsense. We'll see where it goes from here but I don't have much hope going forward. HHH and Steph will be off TV for awhile, since Roman supposedly killed the Authority himself.

On a side note... I love that all these NXT guys are debuting but I also fear that the WWE bookers will screw them over. They all got great potential but they're never used properly. Look at what they did to Bo Dallas, Tyler Breeze, and The Ascension. They're having The Vaudevillians debut on Smackdown. I can't help but fear that they're going to job quicker than The Ascension did once they got called up.

Agreed on pretty much all of this. Although it seemed like they started to give the dudley boyz a brand new feud at the end of their segment anyway. I have loved the dudley boyz since their ecw days (yes I went to Heatwave at the olympic auditorium!), so I'm just happy to still see them wrestle.

I'm not at familiar with all the NXT guys, but some of the goings on sound like an ample opportunity to have Al Snow come back and reform the J.O.B. Squad :101smile:

I don't think it hurts to have what you call 50/50 booking. You just have to support that with the general tone of the product, which is probably not being done. Plus, when your roster is established and you're not bringing in enhancement talent, you can't kill half your roster. You can only make a handful of guys really untouchable.

Right now, NXT is outbooking the main shows IMO, so, hopefully, this may force the main shows to work harder as well. Interestingly, Gable hounded Jordan to become his tag partner in a series of comedy bits on NXT, then we see a similar storyline on RAW with Goldust and R-Truth; also, a double pin by Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn muddies the NXT #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contender position, then a double pin between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch muddies the main roster Divas contender position. Now, a bunch of NXT talent seems poised to make the main roster.

It's an interesting discussion anyway. I'd like to post more later.

Great points. I agree with you. That's the difference between then and now. However, they are still making people like Jack Swagger, Tyler Breeze, Damien Sandow, Zack Ryder, Stardust, The Ascension, Social Outcasts, etc look bad. They hardly ever win, much less show up on TV. But I think that's a different story. They booked them to be jobbers and comic reliefs for far too long that no one will ever take them seriously unless they go on a major winning streak.

What I meant about the 50/50 booking though is that they always negate something from the PPV. They do it the night after RAW which makes the PPV pointless. Whatever was at stake is thrown out the window because the other guy will always win. And if they did lose a PPV match and have another PPV match, they'll trade wins almost every single time.

I forgot to mention that Wrestlemania 32 was better than I thought it would be. True, Roman vs HHH was exactly the anticipated garbage, but there were some nice surprises. I guess I just did not expect them to overcome the problem of the superstars missing due to injury, and they did not. However, a few of my favorite things:

- The ladies' three-way was fantastic, and I was worried going in that they would have a hard time following Bayley vs Asuka from Friday's NXT show. However, no worries needed, they topped it easily.

- As long as I mentioned NXT, I might as well add Zayn vs Nakamura. Great match. I hope they handle Nakamura the right way when they bring him to the main roster. On a side note, one challenge of this business is that it's not always exactly clear what that "right way" is, and sometimes you only have one try to get it right.

- I liked the surprises of the show: Zack Ryder, Baron Corbin and Shaquille O'Neill. Granted, two of those are good booking, and one is just a fun, goofy guest shot, but WM should be as much about fun as about closing storylines.

- Shane O'Mac is still crazy.

- Jericho vs AJ was better than I expected.

- The ladder match also delivered.

Incidentally, Zack Ryder and the IC strap is one where I would absolutely agree that 50/50 booking is just plain the wrong thing to do. There's still time for them to recover this (if they really want to), and I can even think of a good way for them to do it, but only time — and the WWE writers room —*will tell.

Here's a link to an interesting New York Times article comparing the NFL's recent baby steps into streaming to the WWE's existing streaming model:

The N.F.L. Has Seen the Future, and It Is WWE Wrestling (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/09/sports/football/the-nfl-has-seen-the-future-and-it-is-wrestling.html)

The article itself seems pretty basic, but is a decent recap with good sources. The author neglects, however, to mention the NFL's deal with Yahoo! last season for the London games; and I also wish he would have mentioned the WWE's early struggles with their online subscriber base. However, what I really like about the article is that the author seems more about business than sports, so he provides a different perspective. What really caught my eye was this paragraph about WM32 (emphasis is my own):

A four-hour-plus extravaganza, WrestleMania 32 culminated with a title match that pitted Roman Reigns against Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, a villain turned fan favorite who is also a top WWE executive and is married to Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of Vince McMahon, WWE’s billionaire chief executive. Although Triple H controlled the match most of the way, he lost the world championship after his wife leapt into the ring, which flustered him, allowing Reigns to win. Boos rained down as the victor hoisted his championship belt.

I'm going on the assumption that the author does not follow pro wrestling and is viewing WM32 with basically virgin eyes; and what he sees is one guy getting cheered (even though he was probably informed the guy was the villain) and the other guy getting booed mercilessly throughout the match and especially at the end. I especially like that he seems to consider it poor sportsmanship that Roman would take advantage of HHH being distracted by Stephanie.

Personally, I think the WWE is justified in having faith in Roman's ability. However, it seems like they have tried to address this situation for some time while ignoring it on the surface, and they have not been successful. This does not appear to be even a Cena-type situation where the crowd is split 50/50. It seems like they may be starting to address it directly? I am curious to see where they go with this.

TooCool
April 11th, 2016, 10:53 AM
Haha, that's interesting. It's true though, Roman should be the villain for spearing an innocent woman like Steph.

We'll definitely see how this plays out. Judging from last week's RAW and Smackdown they're not forcing him to be a face with the whole "I'm not a good or bad guy, just *the* guy." I think if they keep that path, it'll work out better for him. It allows people to cheer or boo however they see fit. I mean, let's face it. The only reason he is booed is because WWE is trying to make us cheer for him. It just doesn't work that way anymore... not in 2016. However, I think the reason people boo him is because the WWE pretends we're stupid by ignoring the boos and putting in fake crowd cheers on Smackdown, or muting the boos on RAW and PPVs. That's the most insulting part of it all.

Now that I think about it.. Cena vs Reigns. Who would people pick? Then again, you can always boo both of them out the building.

Good time at Raw last night. Although the amount of commercial breaks are brutal. Not one comment at all on my Harlem Heat shirt.

Reigns was booed a lot. Although by the end of the night there were small pockets that were cheering for him. I feel so bad for the dude when he comes out I think I'm going full on Roman fan. But the guy really should just for all out with the "you people hate me so I'll do whatever I want" type persona.

I really liked the Styles/Zayn match. Very technical and some good spots. Nobody around us liked our "Hey Vince, we like this" chant though. I don't see how Styles/Reigns will be a good match. Their styles (no pun intended) are so different, and neither seems to have much personality/charisma that's going over yet.

Jericho interviewing himself was hilarious. I love that guy. I don't however see how a feud with Ambrose is really much of a step up for Ambrose.

The fans were eating up the Wyatts. Those guys are becoming big faces (if they aren't already there).

The dark match after Raw went off the air of the Wyatts vs. Reigns/Ambrose/Styles was a lot of fun, but very short. Half the crowd seemed unsure on who to cheer for, so just went for both.

With Samoa Joe winning the NXT Title, that means he won't be getting called up any time soon. So since you just got into NXT, you're going to love it with him there. I think all signs are pointing to Finn Balor finally making the call up to the main roster. Reuniting with the Bullet Club and all that jazz. Or WWE could make a twist and throw everyone off. Have Anderson and Gallows join with Roman Reigns as the new Bullet Club. Get a new story going with Finn Balor and AJ Styles trying to stop that Roman Empire or whatever they want to call it.

As far as NXT goes, I'm very much looking forward to a potential feud of Samoa Joe vs Shinsuke Nakamura. That would be amazing to see.

Why because the NXT champ has to stay and "carry the load" so to speak?

I know the generic background of AJ Styles and the Bullet Club in New Japan, even if I never really watched NJPW. They hinted at a small retread on Raw last week I suppose, but with Styles feeling like he had no idea they were going to attack Reigns, I suppose you can see that coming. I figured it would more or less be a way to have Styles lose to Reigns at the PPV. They interfere and cause a DQ, or Reigns pins AJ and AJ/the boys proceed to beat up Reigns (probably the latter).

Ah the possibilities..

The one Nakamura highlight I saw looked pretty sweet. He and Joe could be fun.

My guess is AJ either Anderson/Gallows attack Reigns and cause AJ to get DQ'd, or they turn on AJ and cause him to lose. Either way, I don't think anyone reasonably believes there's a chance of AJ winning the title.

Jericho owns the mic. I'm sure Ambrose will beat him at the PPV, but man he is classic. "These are $1,500 boots. $750 there, $750 there. Apologize idiot!"

So Payback is in less than 2 hours. Here are my quick predictions.

I'll first say that this PPV could set them back on the right track, so to speak. I still can't believe what they did at Wrestlemania. In the end, they made it a 6 hour house show when you think about it. The booking decisions were bad and they were done just for the sake of making people guess wrong. It was not good.

With that said, here are my predictions for Payback.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_xl_r/public/2016/04/20160425_match_payback_KalistoRyback--32e493c175e2be0b9cf8a0bb46faab8c.jpg

PreShow Match for the WWE United States Title: Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback

They made the US Title irrelevant in a hurry. They rewarded Kalisto with the US Title because Sin Cara was injured and he had a really great showing in the TLC Match. But with typical WWE storyline, they ignore the title completely. Meanwhile, they were suppose to repackage Ryback and make it all about him. Yet he lost at WM. I have no idea where they're going with the US Title or what they want to do with Kalisto, other than throw him back in the tag team division with Sin Cara. I think Ryback should win here. He has nothing else going for him.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/talent_champion_xl/public/2016/04/20160425_match_payback_McMahons--fd773edab87f5a5ee283fdb8f8bb6a1f.jpg

Vince McMahon Decides Who Will Run Raw: Stephanie or Shane McMahon

I hate this storyline the most. Like I said above, it made the Taker/Shane match completely pointless. Shane ran RAW the next night and he ran RAW for a whole month because of "fan support". If you're going to have Shane lose at Mania, you need to STICK TO THE STORYLINE. Plus, having HHH and Steph fall off the map made no sense either, only for her to show up again. I'm thinking something pointless will come out of this. Vince will say something like "You two need to learn how to work together." And that's the end of that. In the end, the McMahons are back on TV because they always have to be on TV.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_xl_r/public/2016/04/20160418_match_payback_DolphBaron--4c7a540edd9b9137ea3766723061ca13.jpg

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

If I had my way, I would book this match to be under 5 minutes and have Corbin squashing Ziggler. On a side note, I think that's where they screwed up a bit on RAW with Anderson and Gallows vs the Usos. That match went way too long and it hurts the people who are making their debut when the matches go long.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_xl_r/public/2016/04/20160418_match_payback_EnzoColinVaudevillians--dac5dad8213e2bb38d0e60164eea2af3.jpg

Tag Team Tournament Finals: Enzo & Cass vs. The Vaudevillains

Winners will face The New Day at a later date. For that reason alone, I don't see Enzo and Cass winning just yet. I think they might be better off feuding with the Dudley Boyz while giving The Vaudevillians the chance to feud with The New Day. I'm expecting a fun match here and the Chicago crowd will certainly enjoy it. So my pick is The Vaudevillians, likely with an assist from The Dudley Boyz.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_l/public/2016/04/20160411_match_payback_MizCesaro--87023364a0c978c18ace0700281eb67d.jpg

WWE Intercontinental Title Match: The Miz (c) (w/Maryse) vs. Cesaro

I really dig The Miz's character. It feels more enhanced in a way, with the help of Maryse. I like that Cesaro is back and he is awesome. The only problem is... are they going to take the IC Title off of The Miz this soon? There already has been too many title changes with KO, to Ryder, to Miz. With Extreme Rules only 3 weeks away, I can see Maryse helping Miz retain or The Miz will get DQed so he can retain. Cesaro can capture the IC Title at the next PPV.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_l/public/2016/04/20160418_Payback_CharlotteNattie--458dac70f8f854c92142af79d616b614.jpg

WWE Women?s Title Match: Charlotte (c) (w/Ric Flair) vs. Natalya (w/Bret Hart)

So the dirt sheets say Sasha Banks isn't going to win the Women's Championship until Summerslam. That's why Charlotte is feuding with Nattie. I don't know why but I think Natalya will win the title here. Otherwise, they wouldn't have Bret Hart be at ringside. The story they're telling, the reason why Charlotte is still champ, is because Ric Flair always helps her retain against Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. So having Bret here is the key point. The crowd will definitely pop when Bret decks Ric too. So that's what I'm going with. A title change here because Natalya's also paid her dues (had to job for years). Then she can drop the title back at Extreme Rules or something when Bret isn't around.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_l/public/2016/04/20160418_match_payback_AmbroseJericho--732ea5979abb212ff0acf9d44de3e6d4.jpg

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho

Is Jericho leaving soon? I remember he was suppose to be gone after Mania to rejoin Fozzy but he stuck around for awhile longer. I still think it was a mistake for Jericho to beat AJ Styles at Mania, but what do I know? I think Dean Ambrose will take this match mainly because he also lost to Brock Lesnar at Mania. He needs a win more than Jericho.

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/wwe_16_9_l/public/2016/04/20160418_match_payback_ZaynOwens--40f631a3b4cbb9ca62d88a10052668ac.jpg

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

This match right here will STEAL THE SHOW. Provided that they get 20+ minutes to work with. I don't really care who wins, although I think it'll be Sami Zayn that gets it. It's the only way to keep the feud going. Kevin Owens will remain jealous and bitter and he'll keep attacking Sami to make him miserable.

WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles

Chicago is going to boo the hell out of Roman tonight. Unfortunately, I think we all know WWE is going to feed AJ Styles to Roman here. The question is, how? And of course, everyone is expecting Finn Balor to debut here tonight. Plus, the Bullet Club will DEFINITELY be involved. WWE have been trying to play it off as if Anderson and Gallows are helping AJ Styles, but Styles isn't asking for help. What I think here is that Roman Reigns is the one who is actually aligned with Anderson and Gallows. So they'll cost Styles the match or something. People are also expecting Balor to debut as a heel which I find hard to believe considering people will cheer him on regardless. Either way, it should be fun to see how it turns out, even if Styles isn't going to walk out of Payback with the WWE Title.

So I went 3-4 in my guesses, technically 4-4 if we're counting Vince's stupid decision about who runs RAW.

Overall, I felt like Payback was slightly above average. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

Reigns/Styles - Predictable result with AJ being fed to Reigns, but I felt like this was a little bit overbooked and that tends to bug the hell out of me more than it should. The count out thing was pretty dumb considering AJ Styles is NOT a rookie. He couldn't get Roman back in the ring by the 8 count, so he rolls in the ring himself to take the count out win? I mean come on now. Everyone knows you can roll back out to breakup the count. So Shane makes it No Count out and as soon as he did that, you could see Roman getting DQed so Steph can one up him. So that happened exactly. It's not rocket science, I know. Cue the Bullet Club interfering next.

What bothers me the most though is that AJ Styles pretty much got the upper hand on him so many times with lots of moves that should put people away. But Roman kicked out of everything and Styles lost to one spear. It reminds me of how I hated Extreme Rules a few years back, when Lesnar destroyed Cena and Cena won by using 3 moves at the end. It's just dumb. If you're going to have Roman win, have him win when the Usos saved him. Don't have AJ Styles throw everything at him because it makes him look weak.

Ambrose/Jericho - I'll admit, I was a little bored watching this match. The story line going into this match just didn't capture my interest. There was no point in having Jericho win so at least he put Ambrose over.

Charlotte/Natalya - Stupid finish is stupid. It has Vince's fingerprints all over it with the pointless screwjob. It's been 20 years... do you really need to keep reminding the fans of this? And it made no sense to do it here. What beef does the ref have with Natalya? Nothing. I don't get it. I know Sasha isn't winning the Women's Title until Summerslam so of course you'll have filler matches until then. But that doesn't mean you need to have stupid booking in the meantime.

Zayn/Owens - Easily stole the show. I had a ton of fun watching this match and these two are great. It was hard for them to wrestle this match, especially after what happened to Enzo. You could tell that Kevin Owens wasn't himself at the start because he's traveling buddies with Zo and Cass. I'm indifferent about the booking of the finish. I thought Sami Zayn would win and Kevin Owens would be jealous and continue to attack him. But instead, they had Owens win which makes sense because he wanted the IC Title back. It's just strange to have Sami Zayn be the sore loser in this case when he attacked Owens during the IC Title match.

Miz/Cesaro - This was a pretty solid match. The Miz is a great worker and Cesaro is just a beast. It's just weird that they made Sami Zayn a sore loser here because he's a face and if anything, he pretty much cost Cesaro the title too. Like most things, it doesn't quite make sense.

Ziggler/Corbin - So this match got demoted to the Pre-Show because they wanted to give more time to the Vince segment. I think it's a mistake to have Corbin lose but whatever. The story here was that Corbin dominated Ziggler but was extremely cocky, which led to him losing to the rollup of death. I swear, the WWE can't go ONE WEEK without booking someone to win with the rollup. It has to be a running joke backstage I'm sure. Anyway, they can easily fix this by having Corbin attack Ziggler and ask for a rematch at Extreme Rules. Then have Corbin beat Ziggler with ease as a statement.

Kalisto/Ryback - This match was actually really damn good. Ryback with the ultimate troll job during his entrance. He did the "It's clobbering time" thing in front of the Chicago crowd. We all know how much Punk hates Ryback in real life. Another hilarious thing with Ryback is that on his belt, it said "The Pre-Show Stopper". Love that he can poke fun at himself and the WWE for having him only work pre-show matches. There was one more that Kalisto did off the top rope to the outside where he almost got seriously hurt if Ryback didn't catch him. Ryback thought he was going to jump further and when Kalisto spun in the air, he looked like he was going to hit the apron. Thank goodness Ryback caught him and sold the "hit". I picked Ryback to win and they went with Kalisto again. I'm fine with that but they just need a good meaningful storyline for him.. otherwise the US Title means nothing.

Enzo & Cass/Vaudevillians - And finally... I'm glad Enzo is okay. When Gotch irish whipped Enzo to the ropes, he was suppose to slide out of the ring right? At least that's what I think he was trying to do. Having his head hit the rope and then smack onto the mat was scary to see. With the slow motion replays, you could see his eyes completely glazed over as soon as that happened. Scary stuff. So with the match decided as No Contest, I wonder if they'll reward the Vaudevillians by default on RAW or have them wrestle The Dudley Boyz or The Usos. =x

Vince/Shane/Steph segment - This took up a lot of time and you could tell they were eating it up. Vince went with the obvious "You two work it out" thing. The only thing I can hope for is a brand split again. Have one run RAW and the other run Smackdown. The only problem with that is, who gets the 3 hour show and who gets the 2 hour show? If there isn't a brand split, I can see them eventually going to Shane vs HHH or whatever depending on how they book stuff.

I didn't get to see the pay per view but was reading updates on 1wrestling.com. Saw Enzo was released from hospital so that is good news. I still remember watching the Owen Hart fiasco live, and when Marcus Bagwell suffered a bad neck injury. It's scary and highlights that these guys really need to be good at what they do, but accidents can happen.

Wish Styles would've been screwed with. Hate when someone does all their finishers then a guy like Reigns just kicks out. Totally makes the "finishing move" less impactful and takes some of the fire away from the wrestler.

The Shane and Stephanie have to share raw is lame. Stephanie seems to see it in her acting.

Agreed. When they first announced 3 hours, everyone thought it meant giving more time for all the superstars to wrestle but unfortunately that's not the case. Every RAW starts the same now.. opening promo, announce the main event, have filler matches, and lots and lots of recap. =\ I think it's annoying when they recap the opening segment at least 4 times per episode. I mean seriously, all that precious time wasted and not used for actual matches.

Right now, I think they couldn't even go back to 2 hours if they wanted to. They're making too much money with the 3 hour show, it's like USA Network demands it or something. Then I can't even watch Smackdown anymore because they'll use that time to recap RAW. Ugh.

TooCool, if you ever see the "rollup" finish again (and you will, since as you point out it gets used a lot), the one using one arm through the legs is called a schoolboy. I noticed it was used on RAW also, and Michael Cole called it a rollup. A rollup is the one where you rush your opponent into the ropes from behind and then roll them backwards. I'm not sure if Cole's version is the WWE way or just Cole continuing to not know basic wrestling moves after zillions of inexplicable years calling matches incorrectly.

FWIW, I thought Ryback's and Roman's matches were the best I've seen them have. Granted, I've not seen many of their matches.

Michael Cole has definitely poisoned my mind over the last decade. For so many years now, they just refused to actually call the match properly. There had been so many times where they don't announce what's being done so it's almost as if all the moves lost its name. I think that's why sometimes you hear JBL joke by saying, "What a maneuver!" because that's Cole's go to line when it's something he doesn't know. However, I think I just called it a rollup because everyone else does as well. But that move happens once every show that I just call it the rollup of death.

I know I said above that Smackdown isn't worth tuning in for because they do a lot of RAW recaps there, but they also edit in all the crowd noises to the point where it's extremely blatant. Anyway, Mauro is really solid when it comes to calling a match though. Maybe more of him will do me some good.

BTW, I should have added that if I didn't know it was a schoolboy, the "rollup of death" is a great phrase.

Now, if I can just get them to reign in the misuse of "enzoo goory" for the enzui-giri (and not even due to pronunciation but for the miscalling of the move itself). Unfortunately, I think, that's far too entrenched now.

The recaps, in general, are out of control. The worst is when they recap something that just happened before the commercial break. Haha! I guess they feel a wrestling fan's attention span is under three minutes.

I love Mauro calling MMA. It's taking me some time time get used to him calling wrestling, but I definitely appreciate him being able to both call the match and progress the broader story arc, which is the part I think interests WWE more.

And on a side note, the best match of the night was the Fatal Four Way for the IC Title between Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, and The Miz. If you have the WWE Network and you missed the PPV, WATCH THIS MATCH! It's almost as good as the Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura match. It told such a great story with so many nearfalls. They're going to do the draft and brand split again. It's about time since they have way too many people on the show along with all the NXT callups. But still, unless they change the writers it might still be the same old ****.

A SmackDown shakeup is about to completely reshape all of WWE. Beginning July 19, the second longest-running weekly episodic program in television history, SmackDown, will move from Thursday to Tuesday nights and air LIVE each and every week — for the first time ever — at 8/7 C on USA Network, the exclusive cable home to WWE’s marquee properties.

This bold move will have major ramifications for all of WWE and exemplify the New Era, as both Raw and SmackDown will each feature their own unique rosters and rivalries following an imminent Superstar draft.

"WWE's flagship programs will both leverage the incredible depth of our talent roster, distinct storylines and the unpredictable nature of live TV," WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon said. “This move will undoubtedly build more excitement and deepen engagement with our fans around th*e world.”

With so many explosive competitors emerging from WWE NXT, and top Superstars like John Cena and Seth Rollins returning from injury, WWE’s star-powered roster has never been stronger. Its historic division and the monumental revelation of SmackDown’s shift to a live format each week reflect the excitement and unpredictability of WWE’s New Era.

What awaits SmackDown on its new night, starting this July? Which live shows will claim your favorite Superstars? What will this all mean for the future of sports-entertainment? Stay tuned as WWE prepares to get shaken up like never before.

Back then, I loved the roster split and I actually preferred Smackdown over RAW by a mile. Let's hope they can recapture that magic.

Even with the same writers, a split may help them, because they will not be trying to sustain thin storylines across two episodes per week. Also, it might help the product have fewer recaps, although somehow I doubt they will buck that tradition.

Agreed.

The only thing I wonder is... will the superstars benefit more by being on RAW or Smackdown? I'm sure many people will always see that as the main "brand". Plus they got an extra hour to work with so that helps.

If they really don't want to strip the WWE World Heavyweight Title off of Roman Reigns, then I really think they should split the WWE and World Heavyweight Title again. This way they can at least give someone else that "championship" spotlight on Smackdown.

If they really want to get bold, I think they either buy out or compete with wrestling companies in other markets and expand those. For example, create local product for Japan and try to expand that as a northeast Asia brand in general; same for UK and western Europe; and, perhaps Mexico and Central America. Then, use Smackdown as the North American version of the local product. The Smackdown Champion will be the North American champion. Use RAW to cull the best talents from all the brands as a global wrestling show. Some global talents who catch on can become regulars on the RAW show, while regional champions can do guest shots on RAW and on PPVs to create supermatches.

So the bullet club is back together, styles snapped. Yawn. What was the point of pretty much the entire time he's been in wwe thus far? Gallows and Anderson turning on him at least seemed to be going somewhere.

I actually thought cena/styles vs gallows/Anderson would've been fun and a good way to get styles over. Hell even having a Styles/Cena angle by itself could've been fun in the "respect goes both ways" theme.

Or just styles vs gallows/Anderson as its own unique angle.

This just seems rehashed and blah.

So let them kick around folks for awhile, then let's get Finn balor in there.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I'll feel about that because once again we know they'll feed Styles to Cena, just like they fed him to Reigns. I don't see how that makes Styles look strong but whatever. WWE just keep creating "heels" because they insist that Roman is a face. It's unfortunate how they're booking things really.

As for the draft, I think it would be a mistake for them to split up Tag Teams. I remember the old draft, that really ****ed things up. But I was just looking at the Tag Division and how they could really make something happen if done right.

Look at the teams right now...

- New Day
- Vaudevillians
- Enzo & Cass
- Dudley Boyz
- The Usos
- Anderson and Gallows
- Lucha Dragons
- Breezango
- Golden Truth
- Wyatt Family
- The Shining Stars
- Social Outcasts
- The Ascension

That's a lot of tag teams and if they split them up, that'll be bad for the Tag Division. Guess we'll see how they handle it. That promo to open the show was pretty stupid though. They made Shane and Steph seem incompetent because they don't know anything.

The only way it might work - Styles and the Club lay epic beatdown on Cena. Someone comes to save the day and helps Cena beats styles. Styles/The Club then begins feud who ever that person is. But again you've buried AJ in a way. Would've been easier to have the Club started right when he arrived. Or, have him go the route of "I need to prove I can do it on my own". Then he loses to Reigns, Cena, _____, ______, all in close matches. He then realizes screw this I'm going to bring the Club back and obtain glory my own way, and becomes the heel.

What if Cena came back and said "new era this, new era that. I'm going to show you I'm not going anywhere by going after Reigns? He might try to go heel and the crowd would have to decide whether to accept? Forgetting techincal wrestling exploits for a minute, imagine the crowd reactions for a Cena vs. Reigns feud!

It's also funny how much the crowd was eating up Seth Rollins when he attacked Reigns, only to have him go the super heel route the very next night. Did they not expect the initial reaction he got? Or is more of just "no no, Reigns is the face here".

Speaking of Reigns, while he still sucks on the mic and he doesn't have much in the way of personality, I find myself rooting for him more and more each week. Maybe it's just the tough love he gets from the crowd. But I love his minor smirks and gazes to the crowd when he walks in. The quick winks to folks he sees who actually like him. I love that he seems to just take it all in stride (even though you know he doesn't). I find myself thinking yeah Roman, screw the crowd, go do what you gotta do and show me that big smile.

The big show with that NXT guy was pretty funny. "I like you, but not in that come to my trailer and eat all my food way". Maybe it's because I'm in the middle of reading Chris Jericho's "The Best In the World: At What I have No Idea", and there's a chapter on working with the big show that makes me like him even more.

I don't think they'd split a lot of tag teams yet. I'd keep Enzo and Cass together. They have a good thing going, and at some point down the road I can totally see Cass turning on him and going heel. I don't think anyone in New Day has enough personality or mic skills to stand out on their own. Anderson and Gallows aren't big enough on their own yet to split and have the whole Styles angle going on (speaking of which, they already had a promo ready for the Club to speak no smackdown. You know where they're headed. The Dudley Boyz are the Dudley Boyz. Maybe the Wyatt family if they ever all come back.

LetTigerIn
May 31st, 2016, 11:29 AM
Hopefully they are priming Bullet Club to be top heels on one of the shows and expanding the group. Before the split, they should heat up the Styles and Cena, then put them on different shows and see if maybe they can bring that back to a boil for Mania.

Maybe I should stop watching PPVs live because that's the only time they'll book the matches correctly.

The Money in the Bank ladder match was the main attraction of the PPV and I would say that the match was above average. Some spots were really good and some were kind of botched and sloppy. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are so damn good. I want to see a 2 out of 3 falls between them at Summerslam. Strangely enough, I felt like Jericho and Ambrose really took a back seat in this match when it came to memorable spots. The setup at the end looked dangerous with 2 ladders connecting to the turnbuckles and that super tall ladder standing in the middle of the ring. However, I kept waiting for something huge to happen there and nothing did. Ambrose winning was nice but I was pulling for KO. Obviously, KO will be a future world Champ, so it's cool to see Ambrose finally get the nod here as well.

Super Cena AND Super Reigns lost? On the same night? That's just nuts.

Granted, I didn't like the way Cena lost because it *still* made AJ Styles look bad. It's like they had to make a point that Cena would have had a 10 count from that ref bump. Really did wish he would have lost clean but what can you do? Looks like they'll have Cena beat Styles at Battleground and then they'll have yet another match at Summerslam.

Speaking of losing clean, Roman losing clean was shocking. The spear that was countered into a flying pedigree was a great spot. And again, that's where I think back to AJ Styles and how weak it makes him look. It didn't take much for Rollins to beat Reigns clean, yet Styles couldn't get the job done and he did more. Seth held the title for about 2 minutes before Ambrose cashed in the contract on him. It's cool that all 3 Shield members as WWE Champion (and on the same night). Now they can do a Triple Threat Match at Battleground or Summerslam.

The rest of the card was kind of forgettable.

-New Day retaining was sort of shocking, because they could have dropped the titles without being pinned. That's a good way to put someone over without hurting The New Day. They're more than established now, so they don't really need the Tag Titles at this time. Give it to someone else and build them up.

- Rusev winning was no surprise. I don't think anyone took Titus O'Neil as a serious contender anyway. Poor buildup for the guy. All we really know about him is that he's a good spokesperson for the company and a Father of the year kind of guy. What I found hilarious though was Rusev telling Titus's kids ringside that his father is a loser.

- Charlotte & Dana Brooke defeating Becky Lynch and Natalya. Meh... just give us Sasha Banks vs Charlotte already. Vince is blind if he thinks Sasha is injury prone. Especially since the ref injured her at a house show. Natalya turning heel on Becky was different. Poor Becky.

- Golden Truth picked up their first win over Breezango. Well.. I'll give Tyler Breeze and Fandango credit for selling that sunburn.

- Lucha Dragons defeating the Dudley Boyz. I know the Dudley Boyz are here to put other teams over but they also lost their hardcore gimmick in this PG Era.

- Baron Corbin defeating Dolph Ziggler was no surprise but that feud better have ended.

- Apollo Crews beats Sheamus with the rollup of death (or whatever you wanna call it) ;) Either way, I didn't care for that finish because Apollo needed a statement win, not a lucky one.

Overall, I'm also surprised that MITB went 3 hours and 23 minutes. With the WWE Network they can go over without any worry. At the same time though, it can be overkill though. Look at Wrestlemania. That PPV should not have been 6 hours. Summerslam is going to be 4 hours this year too.

And last of all... the Royal Rumble will be at Staples this January!!! I'll definitely be there since that's my favorite PPV. It's been a long time since they've been here. The last time they were here was 1999 and that was in Anaheim.

“I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy,” Reigns tweeted. "No excuses. I own it."

I wonder if they knew about this before the PPV so he could drop the belt. The next PPV, Battleground isn't for another 5 weeks though and they set up a Triple Threat Match between all 3 Shield Members. So he can technically wrestle at the PPV but with the suspension... it doesn't seem right to reward him with a title shot.

I didn't watch the PPV until last night.

I thought Jericho looked good in the ladder match. I will not soon forget the giant swing into the ladder. First of all, who doesn't love the giant swing? Every time Cesaro does it, I'm just waiting for someone to do the dropkick on the guy he's swinging. Maybe that is frowned upon as too dangerous.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Owens and Zayn continue their program for a long time. Each of their matches would likely have show-stealing potential.

I'm not too worried about AJ Styles yet. As long as they keep him near the top of the card, he'll be fine. The WWE fan base has sort of evolved, I think, post-Punk and -Bryan, even if the writing staff has not entirely caught up. Plus, I think AJ could well be the best they have right now. At least I've been really, really impressed with him. His match with Cena was the best on the show.

With Reigns out, Ambrose and Rollins pretty much have to carry the storyline for a month before the ppv? Weird with a 3 way too....I figured they'd make rollins (who beat the champ) and Reigns (who was the champ) to have to face each other for the right to face Ambrose. Maybe the plan is they both cause each other to fail in pins while Ambrose wins the 3 way, and they feud anyway.

It was weird to see Rollins beat Reigns cleanly. Now I would venture to say it was as though they knew the suspension was coming?

The stupid idiot chant is a hilarious and good one for Jericho. He's definitely the best in the world at what he does!

I agree with you on Sami Zayn's intro. I just wish they would stop cutting his music off so damn fast on RAW and Smackdown. His music is great but it is SO much better when the crowd can sing along to it. But they keep cutting it right when he does the pose on the ring steps and that's generally when the music really picks up. Another thing to add to the list that I don't understand how the WWE Crew can miss.

Speaking of which, have you seen Shinsuke Nakamura's past few NXT entrances? The crowd has been singing along to that and they even continue the song even when it stops. Now that's pretty damn amazing.

There are lots of rumors that a lot of old wrestlers are returning for the draft. That includes Kurt Angle. He's still one of my favorite wrestlers ever and I would absolutely love to see him team up or manage American Alpha. Hell, bring back Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. Then merge Team Angle/The Worlds Greatest Tag Team with American Alpha and you got something amazing there.

Another idea I kind of had to make Baron Corbin's character not so bland is to have him join the Social Outcasts or something. He doesn't need to be a goofball or anything. Just make him the muscle of the group. Let him fight Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas's battles. Now that could be fun. And if you don't want to do that, he at least needs a manager. Give him Paul Heyman or someone similar. That will get someone over in a hurry.

You get 3 of them. 1 for you, 1 for your 3 year old, and 1 for your 7 year old nephew.

And you make sure to get this for yourself.

And after just watching NXT from wed night, the perfect 10 is now about an 8.

All part of the story. Funny thing is, people are suppose to hate him because who brags about being a Perfect 10 all the time right? Instead, he's a huge fan favorite. I'm not sure where they're going with his character. Is he pissed at the fans because he's distracted by them? Phillips and Graves kept mentioning that he needed a win.

Anyone notice last night on RAW that they kept referring to Dean Ambrose as the WWE Champion and not WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Looks like we're getting two main titles again. The WWE really can't make up their mind on this can they?

I know everyone is mainly waiting for the draft for story lines to really pick up. But I just want to say that it's stupid when they have Shane, Steph, Big Johnny (People Power!), Teddy Long, Corporate Kane, etc all show up on RAW asking to run Smackdown... only to have Steph and Shane say that they want to run it. But guess what? Neither Steph or Shane has ever bothered to show up on Smackdown for months. The wrestlers seemingly book their own matches there. I swear.. the writers can't put two and two together most of the time.

Very technical, good high spots, lot of brutal skin slap sounds....very entertaining. And nice to get a 20+ minute match on a weekly show.

Finally caught up with NXT last night. I was busy the last few weeks and couldn't watch it in full. (I'm the kind of person that needs the whole hour to watch NXT. I can't watch one match, pause, watch another, pause, etc... even though the WWE Network is perfect for that lol)

Balor vs Nakamura was fun. While it was nowhere as amazing as Zayn/Nakamura, it still delivered. I love how they dedicated the whole episode for it, although I think the "commercial breaks" were a bit much. I still don't understand why they have to advertise WWE2K17 and their own Network shows over and over. We get it. We have the god damn network you morons.

So what exactly is strong style wrestling? I couldn't help but noticed that when Balor worked on Nakamura's leg, he was selling the attacks. However he then uses his injured leg as offense and no-sells there. What gives? Graves and Phillips even mentioned that and then I think Graves said something about Shinsuke's determination was enough to ignore the pain. Granted, it's still leaps and bounds above Super Cena where he no sells completely. Shinsuke would show pain when Balor would go back to kicking his leg whereas Cena would forget that an opponent even worked on it the whole match. But that just made me wonder if that's what Strong style is... which is to overcome the pain and win regardless.

That's two losses in a row for balor, is he finally out of NXT and heading up?

Seems that way. They usually pass the torch on NXT so they hardly go out a "winner". Hopefully I'm not spoiling anything here but when NXT did their next set of tapings, all leading up to the Brooklyn Takeover PPV in August, Finn Balor was not seen. He is still working NXT house shows, even up to this past weekend. He said something like this to the crowd, "Did someone leave the window open because I feel a draft coming in."

Speaking of the draft. Here are the rules and roster.

The rules for the WWE Draft are as follows:

Raw has the first overall pick
Since SmackDown Live is a two-hour show and Raw is three hours, for every two picks SmackDown Live receives, Raw will receive three picks
Tag teams count as one pick unless a Commissioner/General Manager specifically only wants one member of the team
Six draft picks will be made off the NXT roster
The list of current WWE Superstars eligible for the WWE Draft will be as follows:

Male Superstars

AJ Styles
Alberto Del Rio
Apollo Crews
Baron Corbin
Big Show
Braun Strowman
Bray Wyatt
Brock Lesnar
Cesaro
Chris Jericho
Darren Young (w/ Bob Backlund)
Dean Ambrose – WWE Champion
Demon Kane
Dolph Ziggler
Erick Rowan
Jack Swagger
John Cena
Kalisto
Kevin Owens
Mark Henry
Neville
Randy Orton
Roman Reigns
Rusev (w/ Lana) – United States Champion
Sami Zayn
Seth Rollins
Sheamus
Sin Cara
The Miz (w/ Maryse) – Intercontinental Champion
Titus O’Neil
Zack Ryder
Tag Teams

Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze)
Enzo and Cass (Enzo Amore and Big Cass)
Gallows and Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson)
Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth)
Shining Stars (Epico and Primo)
Social Outcasts (Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Heath Slater)
The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor)
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley)
The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) – Tag Team Champions
The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso)
The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch)
Female Superstars

Alicia Fox
Becky Lynch
Charlotte – WWE Women’s Champion
Dana Brooke
Eva Marie
Naomi
Natalya
Paige
Sasha Banks
Summer Rae

So quick thoughts... RAW gets first pick. Kind of dumb to be honest. Now don't get me wrong but my question is... why? Unless Smackdown can make two picks right after, it seems a little "unfair" to award RAW the 1st pick without anyone having to earn it. They could have done a match tonight on RAW with Steph and Shane picking someone to "represent" them, even if they're not guaranteed to be selected by them. At least that way, something is on the line.

RAW gets 3 picks for every 2 Smackdown picks just because RAW is 3 hours is kinda weak too. On paper, it doesn't look fair to Smackdown at all. We all know they treat RAW as the flagship show, but don't make so obvious you know? The idea is to have Smackdown be better than RAW. These draft rules don't favor Smackdown at all.

Tag Teams being counted as one pick is interesting.. it's a good way not to split them up. But it does say that they can be split up, if Steph or Shane wants to. I think the only teams that should be split up are probably the Dudley Boyz, Social Outcasts, and maybe The Usos (because they're boring anyway). Any other teams that get split up is a huge mistake IMO.

And last but not least... 6 NXT Stars will get drafted. What are your guesses? Mine are...

- Finn Balor (Long overdue)
- Bayley (Also long overdue. They kept her in NXT because the division would be terrible without her... but it's time.)
- American Alpha

Those 3 picks have to be made. The other 3 NXT picks are hard but my guesses are...

- Tye Dillinger (He's been there a looong time. He often gets thrown into matches to lose because he's good at putting others over. But he needs a chance to shine with that Perfect 10 gimmick.)
- Alexa Bliss or Carmella (I don't think Bayley is the only women to go up. So if there is another women, it's either of these two. Both well deserving. Especially Alexa. She's come a long way and is a terrific heel. Hell... I'm still shocked they called up Dana Brooke before these two.)
- Austin Aries (I don't see him making a run at the NXT Title. So WWE it is.)

It's tough to not include Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Dash and Dawson, Asuka, and Nia Jax but HHH has always said that they need to keep their stars too. Plus, even if they're not drafted now it doesn't mean they can't just randomly get called up after Takeover in Brooklyn. If they get drafted though, that would be an awesome surprise.

And last of all.. HHH and Undertaker can't be drafted.

Interesting that Lucha Dragons are listed solo instead of as a tag team. Also, the members of Wyatt Family are listed individually.

I think a fun story line would be to have Stephanie split up a tag team out of spite, then have the offended wrestler constantly annoy Stephanie to try to get traded. They could maybe work towards a Wrestlemania match where the result will be either reunion or release.

Ending of Raw last night was dumb. If the referee was well enough to wave "no no" at rollins, he couldn't have gave any indication what happened? But of course, another rematch. Does anyone even remember Reigns exists and is going to be at the ppv?

And a hell of a way to lead into the ppv. Why not do the draft the day after a ppv so any storylines could finish? Unless they will cross rivalries/stories across the two shows.

Okay, thoughts on draft for the 6 NXT spots:
- Balor, although I wish it wasn't after two straight defeats.
- Not sure on Bayley. Why would they call her up when she still has the open ended contract for a rematch with asuka? Unless they draft both her and asuka and let them have it out on raw and/or smackdown. I've heard the comments in the past that Bayley likes the freedom of NXT and wasn't keen on being called up. not sure how much truth there is there, but it's gotta happen at some point.
- I also think Nia Jax would be a nice draft pick. Sure she didn't run the gauntlet in NXT, but she's a solid worker and her size would immediately make her an impact player in the women's division. Carmella - maybe, although she'd probably have to immediately put with enzo and cass or be seen as a cheap imitator, no?
- I don't think Samoa Joe will be drafted as he's got the NXT title to defend. Which also makes me believe Shinsuke won't either as he's next in line for Joe. Too bad as I think Joe, Rhyno, and Shinsuke have different things that could do well at the main level.
- I'm in on American Alphas and Dillinger. Aries I'm not sold on. He's got skill and isn't going after the NXT title as you said. But he just seems little boring to me. Not the personality that is going to captivate people. Maybe a Dean Malenko-ish heel, but perhaps Jericho can work with him :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I just wanted to let you know that Sami Zayn was called up weeks before his Takeover match with Shinsuke Nakamura. Kevin Owens was called up the same way even though he had a Ladder Match for the NXT Title against Finn Balor. And Sasha Banks was also already called up but she challenged Bayley for the NXT Title anyway at Takeover Brooklyn last year. Basically what I'm saying is that they can still work the last big NXT event but they'll lose as a way to "pass the torch".

So I can see Bayley called up.. hell, she is most likely going to be Sasha's mystery partner at Battleground this Sunday. NXT already finished taping their shows up to Takeover, so Bayley is free to work on RAW/Smackdown for a whole month anyhow.

You could tell that WWE did not think this draft through. After the 7th round of 3 picks for RAW and 2 for Smackdown, they just went ahead and gave 3 picks for Smackdown to match RAW's 3 picks.

Heath Slater was the only one not to get picked which could be a funny running joke if executed correctly. They were told before hand that they would all count as one pick. They were hilarious all night long on the WWE Network. They first said that they should be the #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) pick. Then they got pissed that Seth Rollins was the #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) pick. Bo Dallas said that those were the appetizers and that they're the main course. All they had to do was "Bo-lieve". After that, Bo Dallas got picked and then Heath and Curtis went nuts when they found out they weren't included on RAW. Soon after, Curtis Axel got drafted and then Heath Slater was the only guy not to get picked. Seriously. He should show up on both shows and see what happens.

But anyway, back to my original statement. They really didn't think this draft through. They announce the Cruiserweight division for RAW and Kalisto goes to Smackdown.

Bayley not getting picked was the real surprise. But I think that was the point. It's kind of a loophole for her to be the mystery partner to team up with Sasha Banks at Battleground and then she can just show up on RAW.

All in all, you could tell that the draft had the stupid idiot writers fingerprints all over it. None of these decisions were truly made by Mick Foley/Steph and Daniel Bryan/Shane. Unfortunate.

Thought the same thing. At least I had it on Nia Jax.

Through the whole thing I just kept coming back to not liking the brand split idea more and more. Some guys I want to see on Raw, some guys I want to see on Smackdown. 3. Weird to see the "locker rooms" watching the main event out of character (e.g. watching the miz come out to celebrate and applaud for ambrose)

I had a softball game so I couldn't watch it live but I did catch the whole thing afterwards.

#1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) - Agreed. Loved the reaction she got. It's good to see that people *DO* follow NXT. That reaction should be great moving forward for the oblivious management that actually don't pay attention to NXT. I expected her to do more too, but since the focus was mainly on Sasha, that's fine too. JBL said that according to his "sources" and Bayley even mentioned in a backstage interview on Youtube that this was a "one time deal". No explanation why but whatever, she made her freaking debut. After she loses at Brooklyn Takeover, then she can officially be on RAW or Smackdown.

#2 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) - Man, Sayn/Owens absolutely stole the show. The sequence near the end was so good I have goosebumps all over just typing this. It still didn't top Zayn/Nakamura as far as match of the year goes, but this is probably #2 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) . They are so damn good together.

#3 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=3) - Did you see how sad the Usos were when they had to lift Ambrose up on their shoulder? Their cousin didn't win. Boo hoo. I'm not sure if you watching the WWE during the previous brand extension but that's how it is. The babyfaces and heels root for the brand they're on. The idea behind that is that The Miz is "happy" because that means he might get a shot at being WWE Champ someday, while RAW doesn't have a main title. It's funny to see the casual fans go nuts over this because they're like, "Wait, what's the point of RAW with no main title?" And they have no clue that all Steph and Mick has to do is announce a tourney and bring back the World Heavyweight Championship.

Another couple of things I wanted to mention about Battleground.

- Enzo's mic skills. Holy crap, he is so damn good on the mic. Even John Cena was impressed as you can see the reaction on his face. We all know that Vince only cares about Big Cass because of his size. And I'll admit, Cass is no slouch on the mic either, so that's a huge plus for him. But Enzo? When they do split up in the future, I hope he can get a serious run at the US or IC Title.

- Mojo Rawley's debut was... ehhhh. Would have been better to see Rusev try to attack Mojo and then he had to retreat because of it. Something to make Mojo look good. But instead, all we saw was Mojo yelling at Rusev, only for him to back away without a fight. It gives people the impression of Rusev not taking Mojo seriously. I hope they give the Hype Bros a good tag run on Smackdown.

- And finally.. let's talk about Daniel Bryan and Mick Foley. I kind of have a gripe about them already. They both say that they want the shows to be more about the wrestlers. Daniel Bryan himself said something like "RAW had too much focus on the authority and not the wrestlers. That's why Smackdown will be the better show." But now, we got all 4 of them (Mick, Steph, Shane, and Daniel) all appear on TV and even during the WWE Title match. Daniel's YES chants are unreal and I love to see the crowd all participate in chanting along but guess what? He's pretty much stealing Dean's thunder. Do you guys see it that way or am I just paranoid and nitpicking? It happened on Smackdown live and it happened on Battleground.

For the first time in a long while, I'm looking forward to RAW and Smackdown to see what they'll do. Dirt sheets claim that these shows will have their own writers so you might actually see two different shows entirely. Guess we'll have to wait and see if that's true or not.

Outside of the mic skills, I loved when Enzo got in the ring with the two big guys and started his "alright let's go" dancing.

Agreed for the most part on Bryan/Foley. I think the "yes! yes!" chants have in a way become the standard for the crowd showing they appreciate/like whatever is going on at the moment. But when Bryan started it after the match ended, you could say he was stealing Dean's thunder in a way. Everyone just loves him.

So if Raw creates a new heavyweight title, does that set up a National League/American League style set-up where the two champions face each other at one of the big 4 ppv's?

Caught the announcers saying Bayley was a one time gig. I'm good with that, she can go back and battle asuka. But you'd think the reaction she got might get the higher ups thinking we're on to something here. I can't wait down the road when she teams up with Cena in a mixed tag match and forces him to hug.

The "YES!" chants in general is fine. Especially like you said with the crowd showing they appreciate what they're watching. Look at the Zayn/Owens match. The crowd went nuts and gave them a standing ovation and "yes!" chants while they're both struggling to get up. It's not very often we see a match where both guys get a standing ovation from the crowd like that.

So if Raw creates a new heavyweight title, does that set up a National League/American League style set-up where the two champions face each other at one of the big 4 ppv's?

Nope. They're both acknowledged as the main champion and will never fight each other for the belt unless they're trying to unify it or something. In the past though, the WWE Title has always been seen as the 1A Title, and the World Heavyweight Title has been seen as the 1B title. But when you look at Cena for example, they just say that he's a 15 time World Champion. However, he has won the WWE Title 12 times and the World Heavyweight Title 3 times. But they say 15 because those two titles are technically equal and quite frankly, less confusing to the general audience.

If I remember correctly, I think during the last brand extension, the winner of the Royal Rumble had a choice on which title he wanted to challenge for. That would allow him to switch brands, if he won the title at Wrestlemania. But then again, they usually held the draft shortly after Wrestlemania anyway so that didn't really matter. It's been awhile, I forget how it all went down exactly.

And speaking of RAW. They kinda have a new stage and they're moving the announce tables back near the stage. I think Jim Ross hated being that far away from the action. But the commentators never look at the action up close anyway right? It looks like they're always staring at the monitors since they need to call it the way the audience sees it.

I just hope Smackdown brings the fist back with their stage. That one was really unique.

RAW was surprisingly good and the 3 hour show wasn't a chore to watch. Granted, I had to work until 5. So I missed the opening segment, the first Fatal Four Way match, and the Nia Jax squash match. I didn't tune in until the 2nd hour of the show.

The pacing was good though. It seriously felt like it was directed by new management, as strange as that may sound. Some quick thoughts.

- WWE Universal Championship. Stupid name. I'm sure we'll get used to it but I don't like it. So Smackdown has a World Champion and now we need someone to be a champion of the Universe? Come on.

- It's one thing to have the announce table near the stage, but it's interesting that every time it showed Saxton, Cole, and Graves.. they were standing. That alone gives it a different feel.

- Pre-match and post-match interviews. The interview with the jobber was hilarious when he was about to face Braun Strowman. The post match interview with Sasha Banks and Roman Reigns was a nice touch.

- Sasha Banks winning the Women's Title. Well deserved. She paid homage to her favorite wrestler, Eddie Guerrero with that lie, cheat, steal bit to get Dana kicked out. That suicide dive though? Geez... don't break your own damn neck Sasha! I'm glad she's alright from that bump. Charlotte with that top rope moonsault onto Sasha outside the ring was executed to perfection. Great match and I'm glad they did the title change on RAW instead of saving it for Summerslam. They needed to get off on the right foot with the new era stuff and this was the right call.

- I personally didn't find the New Day and that "Sonny Boy" thing funny. Maybe if he only said his name like 1-2 times but to say it 7+ times? We get the point. That segment just dragged for me. And I'd love to try the Booty O's cereal... but at $13 bucks? No thanks.

- Balor getting the win over Reigns was the right call. THIS is how you put someone over and push him as a main eventer right off the bat. However, I can't help but wonder if Reigns would even lose at Battleground, much less lose to Balor if he wasn't suspended. I'd love to think that they're just pushing Balor more so than punishing Reigns.. but I don't know. The thing that really bugs me about Reigns and how they're booking him is that they're still trying to make him the sympathetic babyface. He's no John Cena. Pepole are legitimately booing his ass every night because WWE keeps shoving him down everyone's throats. After Balor's win and Saxton's interview with Reigns, it was the perfect opportunity to just turn heel and attack Balor and become a sore loser. Hell, he should just start flipping off the crowd while he's at it. But no, WWE keeps insisting that we root for him. It's just baffling how stupid and blind they are.

So to sum it up... RAW felt fresh and it was fun. I'm hoping Smackdown does the same. Bring back the fist stage, that'll get people talking. I'm looking forward to an American Alpha win tonight. I guess we should also expect Bray Wyatt to finally take a run at the WWE Title by feuding with Dean. Plus, I'm sure we'll see Alexa Bliss and Carmella debut and win. I hope they keep their announce table ringside so that it doesn't feel like a copy and paste off of RAW.

The first fatal four way was my favorite match of the evening. So many good spots.

I was really surprised about Balor. I thought they'd gradually introduce him to those fans who haven't followed NXT. I jumped up and yelled when he won the fatal four way. I figured something was up when the other 3 guys had ten second intros, but they gave him the full song. Even after, I figured they would let him have a decent showing against Reigns to demonstrate his heart, but in the end it would have to be Reigns going after Rollins. But man I was marking out when he won. That due has facial expressions that you know a crowd can eat up. I noticed during his first intro, some but not a lot of the crowd knew the key point in his intro music to throw their arms up. However after he beat Reigns, lots and lots more people into it. Wait until he dons the demon makeup too, people are gonna go ape****.

Agreed it could've been a time for Reigns to go heel, but Rollins seems to be the key heel they're going to focus on now. I definitely feel like there was some element of punishment to Reigns losing from his suspension. But since I'm still marking out, it's still because of Finn f'n Balor! There's no way he'll beat Rollins at summerslam, but we can dream..

Really nice to see Banks win the women's title, and really nice to have her show the emotion after the fact. Now get ready because the pride of san diego is eventually coming for you...

Speaking of Nia Jax, that squash match along with the Strowman match, along with the new day segment that went about 15 minutes too long....Raw can and should easily be cut to 2 hours.

I'd like to see The Club approach Balor to become the new leader and Balor to reject them. Then, I'd like to see them get Rollins to lead them instead.

On Balor's side, Zayn for sure, and Cesaro would be a good fit. Reigns could go to either side, and either way would likely be good for him.

While Smackdown wasn't terrible, I don't know why I thought Raw flowed better and kept me more interested. It might be burnout after watching so much in the span of 2 days.

Did not expect Ziggler to be the guy, but I've always felt he has talent in the ring. Could put on a good match with Ambrose.

The women's intros where each one was cut off 5 seconds into their speaking was a bit off. Don't think it gave the NXT women enough time to properly introduce who they are. Also unsure whether Carmella is going to translate to the top level, just seemed a bit minor league-ish compared to enzo and cass, and a bit too jersey shore-ish for me. But it's early and she's got time to refine her delivery.

I actually enjoed Smackdown more. The only negative was that dumb segment with the women introductions and especially Eva Maria.

RAW definitely had a better flow overall and I'll agree that Smackdown didn't get off to a good start last night. It's just bizarre to me that with Smackdown being the two hour show, it had way more promos than RAW. It makes no sense and I can't help but feel that the crappy RAW writers probably went to Smackdown while the NXT writers who got called up actually went to RAW. In the end, Vince will always see RAW as the flagship show no matter what. Maybe that's why it's so stacked compared to Smackdown. But I don't know. It's only been 1 show, so we'll see how it performs down the line. All I'm saying is that Smackdown felt like a 3 hour RAW last night, meaning that it was a chore to watch. That's never good.

- Battle Royal and Six Pack Challenge. I like that there was something on the line. The battle royal winner gets a spot in the main event and then the winner of the 6 pack challenge gets a shot at Ambrose. It gives the wrestlers something to fight for, that's for sure.

- Quick Battle Royal note. Did you guys notice how Simon Gotch got eliminated in like 10 seconds? It's just proof that backstage politics exists (not that any of us ever doubted that). Reports were that he got into a legit fight with Sin Cara backstage at catering during last weeks Smackdown Live Draft episode. And when they did house shows last week, Aiden English worked singles matches. The match itself was fine and while they made Kane look like a monster again, the right guy won in Apollo Crews. All he needs is to develop a persona to get fans behind him. Right now he's just the guy who is smiling all the damn time.

- Natalya vs Becky Lynch. Meh, they just had the match at Battleground. Shouldn't they move on from this feud already? It's your typical 50/50 booking so it was nothing new. I agree with you ucsdguy, I don't understand the point of the women interrupting each other only for nothing to happen. It was definitely a disjointed segment and it didn't benefit anyone. Alexa Bliss got in a few words and Carmella couldn't even finish her catchphrases. I think they dropped the ball by putting her on Smackdown. They should have put her on RAW to wrestle and also manage Enzo and Cass again. Especially since she does the same "How you doin?" gimmick too. I'm not saying she won't succeed on Smackdown but sometimes I worry that the crowd (depending on the cities they go to) won't know who the hell she is. If they do, she'll be fine. But a lot of people don't. Eva Marie's entrance was hilarious though. I loved how there was a voice over talking the whole time during her entrance, that was genius. Now they know people will boo her since they think she doesn't deserve to be there, but at least the writers understand that and that's why she's a heel. Now if only they would do this for Roman Reigns. And damn, Eva Marie is hot as hell.

- American Alpha not being able to make their debut was a huge mistake.

- Shelton Benjamin returning soon is great. I'm not sure how I feel about old talent coming back only to lose to the newer dudes. Granted, I don't see him losing right away, they need to make him look good. But knowing that they're coming back just to put others over in general makes me care less about them. (They're going to bring back Curt Hawkins and Jinder Mahal as well). Either way, Shelton has a lot of talent and he'll certainly put on some great matches.

- Heath Slater cut a great promo. That guy is good on the mic. But WWE continues to use him as a joke character as he got gored by Rhyno (who is also back to put over newer talent).

- Miz and Orton's promo was kinda boring. Orton isn't that good of a speaker. He's especially boring when he's a babyface but right now he's cracking jokes, so I guess there's that going for him. Overall, I felt like they wasted a lot of time with Miz TV and then they still had a match, to put over Orton's dangerous RKO.

- 6 pack challenge was a mess to start. Too much focus on 2 guys in the ring and 4 guys resting outside. For awhile, it felt like I was just watching Baron Corbin vs Apollo Crews in the main event. The final minutes of the match was great though. I don't think anyone saw Ziggler winning which was nice. Everyone expected Bray to win since we all know Cena will be fighting Styles at Summerslam anyway. So that's interesting. Does Ziggler have a chance? Hell no. But I guess the story here is that he was at least given an opportunity so he'll make the most of it.

If you had to pick between Balor winning the WWE Universal Title or Ziggler winning the World Title, who would have the better shot? I think the answer is Finn. I highly doubt both of them will win but at least 1 of them will.

Speaking of which, I couldn't help but notice that they're calling it the WWE World Championship now. Yes, they added the word "World" back in, but not "Heavyweight". I guess it's to stay consistent with the Universal Title on RAW.

I think if we had to pick a winner this week, it easily goes to RAW.

Totally agree on American Alpha. Why make a point of getting them air time in the draft and not even debut them? And these guys are the ones who can make an immediate impression on a crowd.

I don't think Balor or Ziggler win at Summerslam. Just seems like they want to give Ambrose a little more time with the title than for Ziggler to win it. I would say the same thing about Rollins. And since Rollins is a top heel I doubt he loses so quickly. If I had to pick, I guess I go with Ziggler for the mere fact that Ambrose has done enough in recent times to put someone else over, but I don't see either. Then again wwe may to truly show it's in a new era!

Enzo in a backwards hat doesn't work. Let the hair flow.

Testing him for a singles run are we? Well that intro segment with Jericho, Sasha and Charlotte had me laughing pretty good.

I like the idea of reigns going after rusev. Let him work his way back up. But you have to think they want a long belt reign (no pun intended) for rusev, but could be a fun heavyweight battle. Is part of Roman's suspension punishment to have to tap out to rusev?

Time to get nia Jax into a feud with someone established, no more jobbers.

Decent match from Rollins and zayn. But where are they going with zayn..

And, a lot of talent/stories I really don't care about for large portions of the show

Yeah, it felt like RAW kind of went back to what it was used to. I guess the pace of last week was such a surprise, even for them. There's no way they could keep it up. Also, the crowd in Atlanta sucks.

Enzo and Sasha vs Jericho and Charlotte was new and fun. I'd give Enzo and Cass a shot at the Tag Titles before splitting them up.

You think with Rusev cutting a heel promo on Americans and the Olympics would signal Kurt Angle's return, but instead we got Roman. Vince will not turn him no matter what. I think we all knew that already, but this all but confirms it. "You WILL root for him damn it!" While I agree with you ucsd that Rusev needs a much longer reign with the US Title, I think it's also good that Roman got dropped to the mid-card for now. That was the main issue with people in general. Being pushed as a main eventer when no one wanted him there. At least he can "earn" it by being out of the main title picture for a good while. Speaking of which... did his Superman punch get downgraded from a finisher to a regular punch? He just uses it however he pleases and if he does connect, the other guy doesn't get knocked out anymore. He can just get up and run away...

Onto Braun and Nia. Squashing jobbers for one match is fine. But I hate it when they do it for weeks and weeks. It's the same formula that fails to get them over in the long run. I remember they had Ryback squash a jobber for 3-4 weeks. Then he faced 2 jobbers at the same time for weeks.. and then 3. Just give them a meaningful feud/story and get them over that way. If you just come out to crush a jobber, people are going to treat your match as a bathroom break match.

What happened to that Cruiserweight division? I could have sworn it was going to debut this week or did I remember wrong?

I'm excited for Smackdown tonight. Hopefully they can create some kind of buzz since last week was tough with RAW being extremely good. So with RAW being mediocre last night, the window is open for Smackdown.

- American Alpha with their debut. Are they going to face jobbers too? Or will they face Breezango, Usos, etc?
- I can see Alexa Bliss face off against Naomi or something. It wouldn't surprise me if they a 6 woman tag with Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Naomi vs Alexa Bliss, Eva Marie, and Natalya since they all interrupted each other last week.
- We can see what they'll do with Ambrose/Ziggler and Cena/Styles as they build for Summerslam.
- And they need to have wrestlers want the IC title as well.

Look at this gif of Sasha this past Monday.

http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2016/08/tumblr_oba8zxjCoN1sbzhteo1_400.gif

She needs to change the way she dives out the ring or she's seriously going to break her neck. She kind of did the same thing when she won the Women's Title last week too. (Can't find a gif of that one)

And here is one of her at Wrestlemania, where she kind of flips while jumping out.. o_o

https://45.media.tumblr.com/c4b80bda040fb68fde84d9bd60b3f245/tumblr_o54gn9mx7Q1sbzhteo1_400.gif

----------------------------------------------

I thought Smackdown was better than RAW this week. So that makes it 1-1 if anyone is keeping score. Much better flow overall. I just wish there were longer matches.

- Becky Lynch vs Eva Marie. I thought it was genius of Eva Marie to fake an injury. It's also funny because people love chanting "You can't wrestle" at her given her slow development in the ring. She's been with the company for what? 2-3 years now? She was okay in NXT and she's getting better, but hey.. fans are cruel. So I thought it was awesome that she actually "couldn't wrestle" because of the injury.

- Carmella vs Natalya. Okay, so Natalya's character is to attack everyone from behind. I can dig that. But once again, it's not a good showing for Carmella. She couldn't do her lines again, and that's the thing that makes her character likable, like Enzo and Cass. No sign of Alexa Bliss either.. bummer. All I have to say is that this is not how you build NXT stars that are just called up.

- So yeah.. two advertised Women's matches that didn't happen. Women's revolution!!!

- Triple Threat #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) Contenders match for the IC Title between Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, and Kalisto. Not a fan of how Apollo won (rollup of death). Why are they still trying to protect Kalisto? You need to have Apollo use his finisher so that he would look strong going into Summerslam. Baron Corbin attacking The Miz after was a nice touch since it means he really is a lone wolf.

- Styles/Cena promo was fun. Might have gone a tad too long. As long as they don't do this every week it should be fine.

- Orton vs Fandango was pointless. The cool thing about the RKO outtanowhere is that it really came out of nowhere. On Smackdown, they pretty much kept advertising Brock Lesnar, wondering when he'll show up. So his showing up was no surprise. That "security" though.. they didn't do anything. Brock hopped over the barricade like it was nothing. I'll have to admit. I didn't care when they announced Orton/Lesnar for Summerslam. I'm actually kind of intrigued now.

- American Alpha had a nice debut. It's kind of sad to see how fast The Vaudevillians became jobbers already just like The Ascension. This is what bad booking is and it's hard to recover from it. The Nashville crowd also sucked though because the reaction wasn't that good for Gable and Jordan. They really should have had their debut match last week.

- Ziggler/Wyatt was great. I think this is a great way to make Ziggler seem important again. Him wanting to prove people wrong... especially Shane, Daniel, and Dean. Plus, he's actually winning too.

All in all, it was a decent show. Smackdown wasn't great by any means. It improved on the mediocre show last week and it also helps that RAW was pretty meh this week.

Agree that

1. Cena/Styles went too long
2. American alphas had a good debut but very little crowd response

I had to fast forward through a lot but yeah that first gif, when I saw that in realtime I was like dayyum did she just legitimately injure herself?

And Ziggler, pleasantly surprised at his mic skills. With his look and pretty good in ring skills, he's got lots of potential..

Another very solid NXT ppv tonight.

Only souring note was bayley losing AGAIN. (That much closer to a call up?)

Tag team match - amazing, made moreso by crowd nearly dying at each of the about 20 near falls for the DIY boys.

I have to admit, no way Jose had me moving the hips. (Yeah I said it). His crowd-wide conga line has potential.

Nakamura/Joe - damn there were some Woooo shots. Congrats to shinsuke

Big thumbs up to the Brooklyn crowd. An intense and boisterous crowd can really add so much to these events.

Sasha Banks wears glasses. Who knew?

Only souring note was bayley losing AGAIN. (That much closer to a call up?)

I'm almost certain that the match tonight was Bayley's last match. Hence the "Thank you Bayley" chants. It was a sendoff, just as they did with Finn, Sasha Banks, etc.

---------------------------

Onto my thoughts on the PPV. It was great. I think last year's Brooklyn Takeover was better though but it was still a great show tonight.

- No Way Jose vs Austin Aries. Wow, I honestly didn't expect the crowd to be pro-Aries here but they were. No Way Jose still had a really good pop and like you said, the conga line was kind of neat. Pretty good match from the both of them and Aries was able to show why he is a good wrestler. Hideo Itami coming out and giving the crowd what they wanted, the GTS was pretty sweet.

Itami vs Aries moving forward should be awesome to watch. I didn't really watch NXT when Itami was there before his injury. He was there early with guys like Balor, Breeze, Owens, etc. I know he uses the GTS (like CM Punk) and the Running Knee finisher (like Daniel Bryan). So it's cool to see a hybrid of that.

- Ember Moon vs Billie Kay. Ember Moon's entrance was pretty cool. The people down at NXT have done a great job in making them stand out. Billie Kay will probably grow on people in the future. Right now she's kind of bland.. like Liv Morgan. I'll have to admit, the NXT Women's Division after Asuka looks pretty bad with Bayley, Nia Jax, Carmella, and Alexa Bliss all called up. The match itself was average. It didn't help that the crowd was dead for it which is a little uncanny for a Takeover crowd. But it seems like they were saving their energy for the matches to come. I liked that top rope spinning stunner Ember Moon has as a finisher. It looks effective.

- Bobby Roode vs Andrade Cien Almas. GLORIOUS! Holy crap, Bobby Roode's entrance was so cool. I didn't expect the crowd to already know all the lyrics to his song too. That made it even cooler. We haven't seen much of Andrade yet so I'll admit, I didn't care much for him. But he was pretty solid and would be a great fit for the Cruiserweight division on RAW in the future. It's funny I say that about Cien, when I haven't really seen Roode or Aries wrestle much before either since I don't watch TNA. It might just be me but Bobby Roode looks like he could pull off this gimmick with Curtis Axel, if they let Axel do the Mr. Perfect bit thing again.

- Tag Team Match. Wow. So great! The one thing though that sucks is that no matter how great we see Tag Team wrestling in NXT is that they never have the TV time on RAW/Smackdown to tell a story. Look at American Alpha on Smackdown Live. They fought jobbers and then get thrown in a 12 man tag team match.. and they'll have that same match at Summerslam tomorrow. It's hard to see Dash and Dawson tell a great heel story if they're only going to have 4-5 minutes on RAW/Smackdown in the future.

As for the tag match itself, there's no other way to describe it. It was almost perfect. Nearfalls everywhere and I honestly didn't know who would win. However, one thing did bug me about the finish and that was Johnny tapping out when he was so close to the ropes. It's one thing to tap out when you're in the middle of the ring and all hope is lost, because Tommaso Ciampa ate the ring post at the end. But the position of that submission hold, Johnny Gargano could have simply reached over and grab the ropes or at least attempt to but it's out of reach. Instead, he tapped in a hurry and that kind of bugs me. Do you guys feel this way or am I just being really nitpicky? I mean, I know storywise, that chop block in the end could have severely "injured" his knee but still. However, in the end.. that was a 5 out of 5 star Tag Match. Just perfect.

- Bayley vs Asuka. Quick note. I thought it was cool that Sasha and Becky stayed ringside to watch the Tag Match, The Women's Match, AND the Main event. Usually that spot is for people to say "Oh look, I'm here. Goodbye!", like Ric Flair during the opening match. This match was above average to me. I liked that Asuka worked like a heel here and Bayley did a great job. She no-sold some stuff like Super Cena but I think that's the point of it. Bayley was also wearing white and blue... (hint hint) so we'll see. Smackdown does need her more than RAW so we'll see. Either way, this was a decent enough match and it's great to see Women's wrestling still at the top of its game in NXT.

- Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe. Holy balls, what an entrance for Shinsuke. Kinda funny how his entrance was like 10 minutes long and Samoa Joe didn't get any special treatment. His entrance was like 30 seconds... This was a good match. It fit the "strong style" theme with heavy hitting and lots of technical submission holds. The pace was definitely not what I expected but thinking back on it now, it was a good pace for these two. That first Kinshasa shot to Joe.. did that break his jaw or was he just selling that? Damn. The ref did call for the X after the match so we'll see if he was really hurt.

Overall, great show. The NXT roster always does a great job in making sure they upstage the RAW/Smackdown roster huh? Summerslam should be fun tomorrow but 13 matches might be overkill. Remember when Wrestlemania went 6+ hours for no reason? I hope Summerslam stays at 4 hours and not stretched out to 5-6 hours just because.

Quick predictions for Summerslam 2016.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus (Best-of-seven series even though Cesaro technically won two matches on RAW recently against Sheamus) - Match #1.. Sheamus HAS to take it. Right?

Sami Zayn and Neville vs. The Dudley Boyz - Faces will win. Dudley Boyz have been jobbers lately and there are rumors of them breaking up.

American Alpha, The Hype Bros, and The Usos vs. Breezango, The Ascension, and The Vaudevillains - Looks like the same match from Smackdown. I expect the same result with American Alpha looking like they dominate everyone.

Enzo and Cass vs. Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens) - Enzo and Cass has to win here. As far as Tag Team goes, you should always have the established team win over a make-shift one.

The Miz with Maryse vs. Apollo Crews for the WWE Intercontinental Championship - Terrible build for this match. Apollo wins a Triple Threat Match on Smackdown to become the #1 Contender. He doesn't show up for like 1-2 weeks. I mean.. really WWE? You guys are so stupid sometimes. As for the match, I can see Apollo Crews winning. Just allowing him to be the champ for awhile could help his character moving forward because otherwise he'll fall back into obscurity in a hurry.

Carmella, Becky Lynch, and Naomi vs. Natalya, Alexa Bliss, and TBD - It's a shame that Eva Marie got suspended. Her gimmick with not wrestling each week was worth tuning into. Quite frankly, I thought it was genius. There are no other divas on the Smackdown roster other than Maryse, and she only came back to be on Total Divas and a manager. I don't see her getting in the ring here. Nikki Bella is cleared to return but would she return just to join the heel team? No idea what they do here nor does it really matter I guess.

John Cena vs. AJ Styles - Rumor has it that Cena is leaving to film his American Grit reality show again soon. So all signs point to a victory for AJ Styles right? I'm not sure though.. AJ won at Money in the Bank, and then Cena won in a 6 man tag at Battleground. But when we're talking 1 on 1.. AJ had the upper hand here. So I wonder if they'll make him take a loss just to even things up. But if Cena is really leaving again, then Styles should win so he can face Dean Ambrose for the title. I personally think AJ Styles needs the wins more. He jobbed to Roman so much earlier this year.

Rusev with Lana vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE United States Championship - So Vince is still adamant on making Roman the "sympathetic babyface" and that's annoying as hell. They gave away this match for free on RAW for no reason and Roman won clean too. By that logic, I don't see Roman winning the US Title here. A win for Rusev would be huge for him too, so I hope he wins.

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte for the WWE Women's Championship. Dana Brooke is barred from ringside - This match would have been more interesting if Sasha was still chasing the title. But now that she's the champ, surely she can't drop it right back to Charlotte right? I hope they get at least 15 minutes but I don't know. Either way, Sasha retains.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. Gallows and Anderson for the WWE Tag Team Championship - With Big E gone, this is the perfect chance for Anderson and Gallows to finally win the Tag Titles. The New Day doesn't really need the title anymore anyway. And hey, when they lose they can have Big E return and say that he didn't lose the Tag Titles. There's your rematch after. Or if they really wanna break up The New Day (which would be another mistake), they could have Big E blame Kofi and Xavier.

Finn B?lor vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship - This is a sleeper match and can possibly steal the show. There is no way Demon Balor loses on his debut. I know Seth is "The Man" and he really represents the company well, but he'll have other opportunities. If Balor loses, I think it's a mistake.

Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE World Championship - I can't see Dolph winning this mainly because Dean's run needs to be longer. Plus he still needs to feud with AJ Styles for the title before dropping it. In a way, I'm more interested to see how Dolph's character turns out after he loses. Heel turn perhaps?

Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) vs. Randy Orton - This should be a fun match but I don't see Orton winning it. He'll hit an RKO but I think he'll eat two F5s.

Well, it should be fun.

Forgot to bring up nakamura' entrance. Live violin player was awesome!! Even nakamura walked by him with that "dayum" look on his face.

Tag match - hear what you're saying on being close to the ropes. I think at that point they just had to get the finish in. Seems like a minor detail as they had already sold his leg injury, so I'm okay with it.
On the near 3 count when they thought they had one, I thought it would've been better if the ref counted 3, called the match, then the dude's tag partner could point out to the ref the foot on the ropes, he'd then signal to DIY he was wrong and the match had to continue. That could've given an out as to they really won the match, but that might be anal retentiveness on my part too.

I thought samoa joe was selling the jaw injury. Didn't cross my mind he might actually have injured his jaw. If not he did a great job selling it. Hope not!

And back to no way Jose, I kept having images of him tying to get cena to dance, or even stoic guys like rusev, and had a laugh.

I'm mainly interested in the balor/Rollins match. I just don't see balor winning. Rollins is "the man" right now. Balor feels just to new to put the title on so quickly. Should be a very entertaining match that goes both ways though.

Good weekend of WWE. Nakamura's entrance was epic. Matches were good.

I was prepared to say two things about Summer Slam, but had my opinion changed a couple of times:

First, I was getting ready to say that Sasha and Charlotte stole the show… but then AJ Styles vs John Cena happened. The more I see of AJ, the more I'm convinced he's the best there is overall right now. I wonder if they will keep him heel after that match, and/or if they'll have trouble keeping him heel if they choose to try.

Second, I was ready to say Summer Slam completely blew away Takeover. In the end, I thought Summer Slam was far better than a very good Takeover, but I really thought the show dragged a lot after the AJ vs Cena match due to the number of matches. However, the Lesnar vs Orton match was main-event-worthy with an interesting finish.

I like that even though they portray Brock as a beast, his persona is somewhat grounded in reality, and his arrogance in promos, while not subtle, is not over the top. I wish more of the product were presented this way, on the whole.

The Brooklyn crowd, BTW, was nuts with their bizarre chants. F4W/WO reports there was a "Delete! Delete!" in there, at least I hope there was. Hahaha! Broken Matt Hardy! Personally, I thought it was hard to make out some of the oddball chants, but I knew there were some weird ones.

Favorite match: AJ vs Cena.
Second favorite match: Col. Sanders vs. Chicken. (seriously. well, mostly)

Oh, and I thought it was great when Bullet Club tried to get Balor to re-enlist. Apparently, Balor was in a sling after the show but not this morning, so hopefully nothing serious. EDIT: Balor out 4–6 months possibly with torn labrum. Bad break! Scheduled to relinquish Universal championship on RAW.

Quick thoughts after I blasted through summerslam. Way too many matches.

Styles/cena and balor/Rollins stole the show for me. Banks match was close behind.

Balor being out 6 months is real?? That is just brutal.

I'm over Rollins. Cass, no way. Reigns, no way, probably after a rusev interference. Give it to Owens and let him squash Jericho for his first defense. (But probably will be Rollins)

ps rumor is Samoa Joe has a dislocated jaw, but I didn't see any official confirmation on that yet.

Triple H, what the heck?

I love that KO is supposed to be a heel, but the crowd was pro-KO all night. Even the "you deserve it" chants as he won. He's getting real good on the mic and should be a solid champion in ring and out.

I may be grumpy, but is the "you deserve it" chant a little overused? I seemingly hear it all the time now. I get when someone comes from NXT or another federation et al it's nice to have the crowd show support for an accomplishment, but the fact that they're at the top level means we know they deserve it. And we know it was scripted that way. Let's get original.

Meh I'm probably just b*** hurt over my 95 minute drive to glendale this morning.

Also , with hhh involved in Raw now, does smackdown really have any name power besides Styles going for it?

Well, KO always gets cheered but you know how Vince is. "He is a heel damn it! Boo him! And Roman Reigns is a good guy, cheer for him!!!" That's just how it's going to be, unfortunately. So it doesn't matter if Owens get cheered, the WWE will treat him like a bad guy no matter what. Just like no matter how much people boo Roman, they'll pretend they don't hear it.

Funny thing is, he does deserve it. I do agree with you that the chant feels overused a lot lately, HOWEVER... they *DO* deserve it though. We're talking about Shinsuke Nakamura, to Bayley, to Sasha Banks, and now Kevin Owens. They really deserve all the success. It's funny you mention the chant because there was a time where I kept hearing "This is awesome" so much that they even chant it for things that are not so awesome.

Looking at how it went down, as far as "shock factor" goes, I think it was great that HHH helped KO win the title. Yet it always feels like HHH is involved in the decisions isn't it? He helped Orton win the title by attacking Daniel Bryan at Summerslam years ago. He helped Seth Rollins during his title reign. And now here he is yet again... helping Kevin Owens. I guess he really can't stay out of the spotlight no matter what lol.

As for Seth, I think this is suppose to be his babyface turn. Anyway, I think they could really make a good story line out of this. Supposedly, Steph had nothing to do with this either so it makes you wonder why HHH did what he did. That's exactly what RAW needed, a reason to tune in. Just like with Smackdown tonight, we all want to see what happened after Miz blew up on Daniel Bryan.

If I had to guess, they might go with the affair story line. I couldn't help but notice that Seth would give Steph a big hug when he talks to her backstage. Maybe HHH is pissed about that? ;)

Oh yes. I felt the same way back in my ecw days with the amount of "holy s***" chants that arose.

Would've liked to see owens win a title on his own, but will see how the storyline develops. Not sure about Rollins as a face yet, but this would seemingly start a feud between he and owens, or he and hhh (latter more likely). The affair storyline, I still chuckle every time I go back and think about hhh taking a passed out stephanie through a drive-through marriage parlor in vegas..

Bayley and New Day together was enjoyable. They're setting her up to go after the women's title, so where does that leave sasha banks?

I keep hearing royal rumble at staples was a rumor. Then happening. Then no just a rumor.

Yeah, I am hearing the same thing. Part of me thinks that the reason why they haven't announced it yet is because they're still trying to sell tickets to RAW at Staples in early October. Once that's over with, they're free to announce it.

Anyone watch the Backlash PPV yesterday? I thought it was a really good PPV. It had an NXT feel to it with only 6 matches booked so that each match had plenty of time.

- Baron Corbin defeating Apollo Crews was a good match in the kickoff show. No storyline there but it was a nice match to watch. I really hope they do something with these two characters soon. Otherwise Apollo will forever be known as the black dude that flips and smiles a lot. And Baron will be known as the big dude with no friends, but wins his Vince likes his "potential".

- Becky Lynch winning the Smackdown Women's Title was great. I'm so glad it went to her instead of Nikki. The women all had good moments in the match and they all shined for the most part. Naomi's entrance has got to be one of the best ones now in the WWE.

- The Usos defeating The Hype Bros was a fun match. I dig The Usos new look. No more face paint and Jimmy wears a shirt to wrestle so you know which Uso is which. I liked their aggressive style and could almost picture Roman Reigns as a heel... Great storytelling with Zack trying to get that hot tag to Mojo. And Mojo's over aggressiveness cost his team the win as The Usos damaged Ryder's leg the same way they did to Chad Gable.

- Heath Slater and Rhyno winning the Smackdown Tag Championship. Now this is why I like Smackdown over RAW so far. They are able to get people to care about people like Heath with this fun storyline. We all know how WWE ruins their characters by jobbing them out and making them look bad for far too long. (Look at Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Jack Swagger, Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, etc) It's good to see that they could turn things around with Heath. People actually want to root for him and that's great to see. The awkward relationship with Rhyno is funny. The match itself was similar to the first one. The Usos worked over Heath while he tried his best to get the hot tag to Rhyno. One thing that did bug me if I had to nitpick was that The Usos didn't even work over Slater's leg the same way they did on Gable and Ryder. Poor ring psychology there. Do we blame The Usos for forgetting or the person who booked the match?

- The Miz retaining the IC Title. It was a good match. Loved how The Miz was using Daniel Bryan's moves in this match. He really should have won the match using the Yes-Lock if they're trying to set something up between him and Daniel. But instead, he got help from Maryse and used the Skull Crushing Finale.

- Bray defeats Orton by forfeit and then Kane beats Bray. Not sure why Orton suddenly didn't get cleared for the match. Kane defeating Bray on paper sounds terrible but after watching the match, I'm okay with that.. since Orton came out to give Bray the RKO. Plus, it was a no holds barred match so to the casual fans, they can still think Kane is a force to be reckoned with. And moving forward, it'll be good for Baron Corbin to beat Kane. However, Bray needs to start winning. It's dumb to have him call himself a god if he can't win matches at all.

- AJ Styles winning the WWE World Title. Great match. I think they got 35+ minutes (not including entrances). I would personally have liked to have seen AJ win cleanly and then use heel tactics to retain, but I guess this way works too. Like he said, all that matters is that he's in the record books.

Anyone watch the Cruiserweight Classic?

The finale was so damn good. T.J. Perkins beat Gran Metalik to win the trophy. On top of the trophy, HHH awarded T.J. Perkins the new Cruiserweight Championship and he'll debut it on RAW.

There were a lot of people who were upset that Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. lost in the semi-finals. But the reality is that neither of them has a WWE contract. Kota Ibushi didn't want WWE to have exclusive rights to him at this time, so he didn't sign a contract when offered one. Zack Sabre Jr. I'm not sure what his deal is. He's extremely talented too but he has booked a bunch of indy dates and I think that's why he doesn't have a contract. =x I'm not taking anything away from T.J. Perkins and Gran Metalik though. They are awesome in their own rights.

If you have the WWE Network and haven't seen it yet definitely check out the final matches. They were off the charts insane.

I do have a few issues with the Cruiserweights going to RAW.

#1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) - You know Michael Cole will not call the moves.
#2 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) - The casual RAW crowd won't know who these guys are and they won't care.
#3 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=3) - The biggest fear is I have is that Vince will be stupid and eventually feed these Cruiserweights to guys like Braun Strowman just because he always prefer big dudes any day of the week.
#4 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=4) - Just like with NXT Tag Teams and why they are so great is that they can work 10-20 minute matches. They get to tell a story. The Crusierweights need the same thing. It won't work if they get a 5 minute segment on RAW. Smackdown has kind of been doing this too. This past Tuesday if you saw.. two tag matches had like 2 minutes each. Are you serious? These writers can be so stupid.

So yeah, those are my fears. I hope they prove me wrong but we've all been watching this for far too long to know that they're bound to **** it up.

Okay watched the cwc semis and final. Great matches.

One complaint - camera work. Was it just me or did many big moves seem to have total wrong camera angles that missed the spots? Needed work until I saw replays.

While matches were great, these guys are going to struggle on raw. (Winner primarily). This will not translate to 3-5 minute matches, and I don't see enough charisma to get the casual fan interested. But, I wish him all the luck in the world

Few thoughts on Smackdown last night:

- I really don't care about Baron Corbin
- Credit to Cena for taking a clean loss. But does that improve the build up to the 3 way title match? I had just assumed AJ would interfere causing a DQ or match stoppage and all three would go at it.
- Appreciate American Alpha, but outside them, lynch, and the 3 mentioned above, Raw has a much bigger and better roster of wrestlers I care about. Thank goodness smackdown is only 2 hours.

Pretty decent pay per view yeah?

I really enjoyed the women’s match. Charlotte really carries. That moonsault onto both women? Crazy! I’m obviously very partial to Bayley, but Charlotte definitely has that torch right now (until she inevitably gets turned on).

Sammy Zayn losing to Jericho – entertaining match, but a clean loss? How exactly is Zayn being built up here? I’m very pro-zayn so this SUCKS! (I’m also a huge Jerichoholic, so whatever)

Cruiserweight was fun match. A few missed spots here and there, but entertaining nonetheless. I think it will take time for fans to develop relationships with some of these guys though.

Won’t comment on Seamus and the no contest match, because frankly I haven’t been interested in that storyline at all.

Good for Roman beating Rusev. Do they finally turn him heel, or does he keep just getting stuffed down everyone’s throats? I did however notice quite a bit more cheering for him after the victory.

Title match was also very entertaining. I love that Rollins keeps getting screwed when he won by screwing over other people for so long. Not even sure if he’s turning full face, if this is being built into a mick vs. Stephanie storyline, or a little of both. But Owens is a solid champ. He sells bumps so freakin well with a blank stare when he seemingly has just been knocked out for the 18th time. I love it. Good on the mic, good in the ring, prime for a sizeable title run.

I actually thought it was just okay. Lots of wrestling but the booking decisions are just so bad on RAW. I really don't care anymore. lol. Smackdown is so much better in getting me to care about the characters compared to RAW.

I really enjoyed the women’s match. Charlotte really carries. That moonsault onto both women? Crazy! I’m obviously very partial to Bayley, but Charlotte definitely has that torch right now (until she inevitably gets turned on).

That moonsault was definitely a thing of beauty. I also think the 3 women had the match of the night. I like that they keep bringing up Charlotte's record in PPV matches. I think she's 12-0 now right? That's a big deal. So maybe they can just have her drop the Women's Title on RAW, like she did a few months back to Sasha Banks, but keep that good PPV record. What I don't like is what they're doing with Bayley. They're kinda burying her and you can tell that her fan reactions aren't as good as they should be right now. I don't quite understand her losing to a boot too. It's such a weak move to lose to. But Bayley lost to Charlotte's boot on RAW and at Clash of Champions.

Sammy Zayn losing to Jericho – entertaining match, but a clean loss? How exactly is Zayn being built up here? I’m very pro-zayn so this SUCKS! (I’m also a huge Jerichoholic, so whatever)

They don't know what they're doing with Sami Zayn. Same goes for Cesaro. =\ I guess the plan is for Jericho to eventually feud with his best friend Kevin Owens.

Cruiserweight was fun match. A few missed spots here and there, but entertaining nonetheless. I think it will take time for fans to develop relationships with some of these guys though.

Oh man.. Brian Kendrick screwed up a few spots in that match. But overall, it was decent enough. They still need way more time to tell a story but as I heard from RAW last night, the stupid idiot crowd in Cincinnati was chanting "CM Punk" and "Randy Savage" during the Cruiserweight match. That's what I feared about the division. The casual crowd aren't going to care who these guys are because they don't know them. What they really need to do is have guys like Neville and Sin Cara join in on the Cruiserweight fun. At least they're more known so people might care.

Good for Roman beating Rusev. Do they finally turn him heel, or does he keep just getting stuffed down everyone’s throats? I did however notice quite a bit more cheering for him after the victory.

He's going to keep getting stuffed down everyone's throats as a "good guy". But at least he's out of the main event picture for now.

One thing that bugs me about the Universal Title is that they're booking KO to be a chump. It's the same thing when Rollins had the WWE World Heavyweight Title and was with The Authority. There's just so much outside interference that the heel champ looks incapable of winning by himself. That's why I enjoy Smackdown because AJ Styles is a heel and can win matches on his own.

Yeah with Bayley, having her kind of beat a nobody on Raw last night...looks to further back up the "burying" claim. Her crowd reaction isn't nearly as hot as it was in NXT. I thought it could've been a nice heel turn time for Sasha Banks and let her feud with Bayley (you screwed my title chance), while Charlotte gets turned on for her own feud. Although at this point more of the crowd might cheer for Banks out of familiarity.

At least Cesaro/Seamus being forced into tag team matches is somewhat of a new direction. They'll win and win and eventually face the New Day is the direction it seems to be going. What happens to the big baldies, and what exactly is the direction for Enzo and Cass at this point?

What they should do instead is keep Jericho and Zayn together for a while with Zayn eventually coming out on top and going after Owens (and Jericho) again. Zayn, Cesaro and Owens all seem to be good overall at making a compelling match, but they could all learn from Jericho as well.

It will be interesting to see how much patience they have with this division. It's clearly a good product, but in the past, when they've had problems selling a Light Heavy or Cruiserweight division overcoming their big guy culture, they've pulled the plug pretty fast. Maybe they CWC alone was not enough for ignition and they need to keep a separate show on WWE Network for this division to build interest first and/or run the division on NXT, where the fan base is clearly more receptive to the style.

One thing that bugs me about the Universal Title is that they're booking KO to be a chump. It's the same thing when Rollins had the WWE World Heavyweight Title and was with The Authority. This, in and of itself, is not a bad thing, especially because both Rollins and Owens can back up the position by actually being very good wrestlers. It's actually a classic. Roddy Piper was this guy often (not as champion, necessarily, but as a guy you thought could beat anyone but still resorted to cheating). The catch, though, is they need a real hero to chase the title. Seth Rollins is not quite that guy, partially because of how he was portrayed with the belt. Ironically, Roman Reigns was totally that guy, and they were put into a tough corner by Rollins' injury, and they made the wrong choice. Maybe if they'd continued to screw Roman out of the title until WM, they would have had a better result, but that's both speculation and water under the bridge now. They've got Roman going in the right direction again, but he seems like he will be damaged for a long time, maybe forever. Really, Rollins, Zayn or Cesaro would all be great guys to build to pursue the belt, but, at this point, none of them have the right image as the dominant hero that deserves to be champion but is denied. Also, theoretically, more than one superstar could be that guy at any given time.

No Mercy was pretty solid last night.

They kicked off the PPV with the WWE World Championship Match because of the stupid Presidential Debate. Did Vince forget that if people miss the PPV or main event, they can watch it anytime on the WWE Network? Of course, the excuse is that it was Shane's idea and on Talking Smack he said, "You like it?" I think the good thing about the Smackdown roster is that it's solid from top to bottom thanks to the booking. However, when they have the big four PPVs, it's a good excuse for Smackdown to open the PPV with the World Title match and then they can pass off the excuse that they like to start things off with a bang. They did that during the last brand extension anyway.. so no big deal.

- WWE World Title Match was great. I wonder how hard it is to coordinate a Triple Threat match in general. Because I could see Cena calling some spots, but he was telling Dean and then he'd go over to Styles and the 3 of them would do something. Either way, the flow of the match was great. The finish to the match was kind of surprising. Cena got pinned after 2, yes.. TWO chair shots. In a way, it makes me shake my head with the way they book Roman Reigns. He can take 10 chair shots and 3+ finishers and he still won't lose.

- Miz vs Ziggler in a Career vs Title match was amazing. It really should have closed the show. I can't recall the last time the WWE audience cheered that loudly for an IC Title Match. That's what great storytelling and booking does for you. Ziggler really overcame everything. From The Miz removing the turnbuckle cover to Maryse spraying him again with "perfume", and even the Spirit Squad interrupting. It was a roller coaster of a match.

- Orton vs Wyatt. Alright, we know Bray needs a win badly because he usually loses. The problem is that he once again needed the help of Luke Harper (who came back from injury and was a free agent). Erick Rowan got "disowned" like 2-3 times already so I don't even know if he's still part of the Wyatt family. Either way, Bray really needed to win this match cleanly. The problem with guys like Harper and Rowan is that they constantly lose as well. It makes them look terrible. So unless the new Luke Harper starts winning, I'm not going to hold my breath.

- Nikki Bella beating Carmella was okay. Not too surprising but I wish they did a No DQ match based on their story. I guess the last thing WWE wants is Women beating each other up with weapons huh?

- Becky Lynch didn't compete because of a medical issue. She was in the hospital o_o. Hope she's okay. Alexa Bliss is still the #1 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contender and she'll get her Women's Title match on Nov 8 in Scotland. So they had her lose to Naomi just so she has something to feud with for a month. Naomi won with the typical rollup of doom and I liked how Alexa just yelled "She cheated!" because that's what heels say right?

- I'm really glad Slater and Rhyno retained. We all know the main feud for the Tag Titles will be American Alpha and The Usos anyway. The question is when? All I know is that I didn't want Slater and Rhyno to drop it so soon. The crowd cares about Slater now ever since he has to fight for a contract and that he has kids. But when he got the Tag Titles, they barely showed up on Smackdown. I really hope they do something fun with them to keep the momentum going.

- Curt Hawkins making his debut in the ring was hilarious. He delivered on his promise. His first match will be on Smackdown Live. It's cheesy as hell but I love it. It almost feels Eva Marie like so that's fun.

- Corbin vs Swagger was slow to start but they really picked up the pace during the last 2-3 minutes. Not much to say here since Corbin is getting pushed but I really do love the End of Days finisher. It's amazing and looks strong.

Overall, fun show.

Paige just got her 2nd violation now with the drug policy. Suspended for 60 days. She's been on one hell of a downward spiral ever since she got together with Alberto Del Rio. I wonder what kind of magic he's got, because he somehow got Paige to get an "Alberto" tattoo on her body and a "Papi" tattoo on her finger.

I breezed through some of the matches late last night and while getting ready this morning. I really regret my decision to watch the debate last night instead.

- Title match was high quality. All three guys put on solid performances. I didn’t even notice cena calling shots, but I’m a bit desensitized to that kind of thing since the many RVD/Jerry Lynn matches I used to watch. The ending was strange, and does the 3 man storyline now carry forward even more months ahead? Or do they just let a Cena/Ambrose feud start and move AJ on to something else? Interesting to see who the fans would follow in a Cena/Ambrose direct feud (maybe). Oh and how hard did AJ sell that Ambrose leap through the ropes after he pulled the ref out? Ambrose barely touched him and he flew 10 feet to the fan barricade. I love it.

- Loved Diggler/Miz. No secret I’ve been a huge fan of this storyline the past few weeks as I think both guys have been incredibly good on the mic. I also really love Ziggler’s style in the ring. He reminds me of an HBK with a dash of Mr. Perfect and a lot of athletic ability. The man sells like freaking crazy. And man I wish I could grow hair like him. The jew-fro doth limit me. Really good ring performance from both guys. I loved every Miz facial expression of “what the hell do I have to do?!” Oh and the fans were awesome. I text a buddy of mine as Ziggler was celebrating with the fans, "I dare you not to shed a tear"

- I also really like Slater and Rhyno. I wasn’t as familiar with Slater before this storyline, but he’s impressed me. And Rhyno is just Rhyno (I love him). While Rhyno doesn’t talk much, there is a lot of comedic potential with their relationship, and ability to dominate in the ring. I also really, really hope Rhyno gets elected next month to public office in the real world. Let American Alpha get some more exposure and go after the tag titles whenever a true heel tag team has the belts down the line. Ps if Reigns went full heel and aligned with the Usos to form a new “shield”-like group, there’d be a lot of good potential there too. But I guess that thought is for an alternate reality.

- Orton/Wyatt was okay. This thing just doesn’t do much for me still. Even the finish I just felt like “really?” I still think Wyatt would be a great anti-hero (and was headed that way with fan reaction before his injury some time back).

That’s about most of what I watched, but was a good show. Totally agree in that I wish Ziggler/Miz had ended it.

Paige – for some reason I thought she was already let go from the wwe after the whole del rio saga. But sheesh.

Haven't watched the last 4 episodes of RAW. Just reading the results and can't help but feel "same old, same old".

Sucks that they're going to feed Sami Zayn to Braun.

And I personally don't care about Goldberg returning. Was never a fan of him (didn't watch WCW) and his last match with Brock was absolutely terrible. And to think that they want to do it again.. I think it's a desperate cry for ratings but that's the stage they're at right now.

Edit: Just saw a clip of the Bayley/Dana Brooke match since you said she botched it.

You weren't kidding. She totally missed the ropes for that leverage pin and Bayley ended up looking extremely weak losing like that. Yikes.

NXT Live at the Palladium was so ridiculously fun last night! I had seats 4 rows from the ring, in a section next to the ramp where wrestlers walked out.

Showed up at 6:00 for a 7:30 start time and the line was already around the block. Thing this was probably due to the large amount of GA standing tickets they sold. I am quite glad I ended up reverting to seats. I seriously doubt an event like this will ever be at a venue the size of the palladium again. Big for a concert venue, incredibly small for this type of event.

The crowd was HOT. It felt like an old school ecw crowd. The announcer guy who entered to get the crowd ready had to stop twice and recognize “damn you guys are hot tonight”. You got such a feeling as people were singing Roode’s theme music while waiting to get through security outside. Lots of pops, lots of great spur of the moment chants. A natural favorite was the whole place chanting “ten, ten” every time the ref counted from 1 to 10 if wrestlers were outside the ring, or later on for regular pin counts.

I won’t even bother going through details of each match as it would probably be 15 paragraphs. Roode vs. Ibushi was awesome, as was a 3 way championship between Samoa Joe, Nakamura and one of the Sanity guys. Asuka and Enber Moon had a tag team match between Billy Kay (or whatever her name is) and her Australian sidekick. Asuka showed a lot of funny personality in her taunting, quite funny. Also a classic “you f****d” up chant once the sidekick slapped her in the face and got a death stare, more of a “that was a no no” indication. Tye Dillinger performed like a 10.

They announced at the start cameras were filming two of the semi-final tag team tournament matches taking place, so I’m sure will see some highlights on upcoming NXT programming. And both matches were very entertaining.

William Regal made an appearance, thanking the crowd for the support and talking about how working NXT was perhaps the most satisfying thing he’s done in his career.

Overall the venue was quite intimate for a wrestling show, the crowd was fantastic, and the matches were high quality for a live show. I’m still hyped up. I wish I could post all the video and pictures I took, but I might overload the system!

I'm a little behind on NXT but I just saw the DIY vs Authors of Pain match last night. (I'll be all caught up by Saturday for Takeover Toronto.) Great match! How was that in person? Did you see The Revival go under the ring before the match or anything like that?

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic this year has been handled well. I think untimely injuries really screwed up the bracket though with Aries and Itami out. I believe The Revival had someone hurt too (forgot which one), that's why they "forfeited" their match to DIY. But at the same, they did a great job in furthering their feud with DIY for the next PPV, unless they'll fight at Takeover Toronto.

I remember last year, they had teams compete in it at house shows for the earlier rounds but they didn't film it. So all we got was like a 30 second recap from a camera phone or whatever telling us who advanced. This year, I'm happy to see that they filmed it at House Shows. With two matches in San Jose and 2 in Los Angeles. What's really cool is that these matches had a PPV feel to it since it wasn't the Full Sail crowd.

And Carrlyn got front row seats for the Hollywood show. Awesome stuff. I wonder who she was sitting next to because it looked like she was explaining the matches to the two dudes on her left.

I am not down with the raw women attacking Bella on smackdown tonight. Bayley is not a heel.

I'm okay with that even though it's extremely out of character. That's how Survivor Series is. They're supposed to show team unity. What is she suppose to do? Run out to the ring with Sasha, Charlotte, Nia Jax, and Alicia Fox and just sit in the corner and watch? (Though that would be funny now that I think about it).

What I especially like is that the teams are comprised of heels and faces. I remember that for a few years, it got so stale that they just went with face teams vs heel teams. The Survivor Series I remember watching growing up were teams that had to work together despite their differences with each other.

I really wonder which teams will win. Usually going by WWE logic, the Smackdown Men's Team should win because the RAW team got the upper hand before the PPV. And the RAW's Women's Team should win since Smackdown's Team got the upper hand. One thing is for sure is that Nia Jax will likely be eliminated by countout since she'll spear the random barricade for no reason. They're definitely not going to have her pinned. The same goes for Braun Strowman. They will definitely have to protect him. I can see him getting DQed when Luke Harper tries to interfere or something.

With Smackdown getting a Cruiserweight show called 205 Live on Nov 29th, all signs point to Kalisto beating The Brian Kendrick to win the Cruiserweight Title and bringing the Cruiserweight Division to Smackdown. While that's great, I think it'll hurt Smackdown to have The Miz drop the IC Title to Sami Zayn. Does RAW really need the US AND IC Title on their show? I really hope that doesn't happen. I'm holding out hope that Sami Zayn can win the IC Title but somehow gets traded to Smackdown. We'll see where they go with this. Either way, Survivor Series is actually build up well and it's been a long time since Survivor Series has meant anything.

And Undertaker coming back full time is awesome. I'm definitely going to cherish his final run.

The match was very cool in person. We did not see the revival under the ring at all, at least from where I was sitting. When they came out it actually was on the other side of the ring from my seats, so it wasn't until they jumped around and into the crowd that we figured out what happened. I actually thought the crowd noise for that match appeared low watching it on tv. It sounded a lot louder and crazier in person.

I'm excited for the NXT ppv Saturday night in Toronto. I'm pretty sure the Authors of Pain will win the tag tournament since they seem to getting the big push. Had a fun conversation with a guy next to me at the palladium show who felt Sanity had basically taken any momentum or "heel charisma/likeability" away from the Authors, which I kind of get.

Roode/Dillinger and Nakamura/Joe should be very fun. No idea how Mickie James will look against Asuka. Oh and Revival vs. DIY 2 out of 3 falls for tag championship could be a sleeper for awesome-ness. My only problem - a severe lack of No Way Jose

I think my problem was the out of character for bayley. I get that they're trying to build up "we're raw" vs. "we're smackdown". But she looked so awkward with those leg stomps, like she literally had no idea what a heel was supposed to do in that situation.
By the way, how freaking funny was it on Raw when Jericho stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Ellsworth? "What the hell is that?"

I've been a little on the fence with the heels and faces teaming together. I'm supposed to believe Sasha and Charlotte all of a sudden are on the same page because they want to beat Smackdown so much? I look for various instances of face/heels on the same team going at it and/or causing teams to lose to further feuds as wrestlemania.

I do like that over the past couple weeks they've been building Nia Jax as opposed to just more jobber matches. Her random spear into the railing was hilarious. Not so much a fan of her destroying Bayley on a previous Raw match (do they have any idea what to do with Bayley at this point?) for obvious fan-boy reasons. But I think Jax can be a superforce in the Chyna vein if set up right.

Undertaker was great. Old school entrance. I also enjoyed Edge again too.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing from your vantage point. The audio was definitely toned down for those house shows. I think they had to do it because Tom and Corey weren't there and they just recorded their voices from the studio at Stanford. At the same time though, WWE has a tendency to do that though because they're stubborn as hell. Remember when Smackdown was taped? They added in crowd noises to everything which was unbearable. It was always the cheering and booing sound.

And when RAW was in Scotland like 2 weeks ago, they heavily edited the boos that Roman got and the cheers that Bayley got. They even edited out the love the crowd gave Bailey. Unfortunate. =\ Here is segment they edited out on RAW. I think it's stupid because if they leave it there.. they can help the casual audience realize why they should adore Bayley.

Completely understand where you're coming from. It would be great if there was incentive for them to work together. All Steph did was threaten to fire them and we all know they won't get fired. What they should do is reward each individual with a future title shot if they don't get eliminated. That would make the most sense.

At least Undertaker kind of said that he was rooting for Smackdown and whoever fails will likely have to face him. So I can see him feuding with Orton or AJ Styles or whoever that costs Team Blue the match.

I LOVED this segment, and thought the crowd interrupting over and over was absolutely fantastic. Again was probably a bit of my fandom knowing what was happening and what they were singing. The actual crowd may not have come through as loudly on TV as it was in person. But I got the point (as did Charlotte, as did Sasha Banks, who had to sing it with them at one point and hug bayley). I remember seeing this segment when I taped Raw though. Was a portion of it edited out, or maybe in a later broadcast?

Bayley was in that "this is amazing but what the hell do I do" state too.

Totally agree, that was the perfect time to demonstrate it to the casual audience. I think the announcers did their best to either downplay it or keep from mentioning it if I remember correctly too.

awesome

Seriously you guys, just go watch bobby roode's entrance from NXT takeover tonight.

Seriously.

It was GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!

Last night's Takeover was amazing as usual. It's pretty crazy that by the time the Asuka/Mickie James match came on, I was thinking "Holy crap, this one could be the weakest on the card". That's how good the PPV was. Even the Authors of Pain and TM61 match was surprisingly entertaining. Granted, they still need a little more character development because both of those teams look pretty generic even though the talent is there.

Did you think that was a sendoff for Tye Dillinger last night after he lost to Roode? His mouth was saying "I'm sorry" but at the same time it's like they gave him 1-2 minutes with the crowd. Everyone wants him to be a surprise entrant at the Rumble at #10. (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=10.) That would be pretty cool.

Match of the night easily went to DIY/Revival. Man, that was so fun to watch. The story telling is absolutely great. So many near falls and tag team moves to get to those near falls. The ending sequence was so great.

Asuka/Mickie James was just about what you expected. I'll admit, it was a little hard to get invested in this one because you know Asuka wasn't going to drop it to Mickie who isn't signed to NXT. I was just enjoying a good match and Mickie showed that she's pretty damn talented. If I remember correctly... when she was in her prime back in the WWE, she was in the Bra and Panties era so she didn't exactly get to showcase too much of her wrestling skills. So to see her so athletic and trade stiff shots with Asuka? That was nice.

And last of all, Nakamura vs Joe did not disappoint. Nakamura's entrance was pretty awesome too. I love these Wrestlemania type entrances too. The matches are already important but when you add this kind of spectacle to it, it makes it so much better. Honestly, I was very surprised that Samoa Joe won the title. Especially with NXT going to Japan in December. I figured they would let Shinsuke and Asuka hold the titles as they head home. But I guess they have to continue this feud just a little longer since Austin Aries and Hideo Itami are injured. They need the star power.

It still amazes me how NXT is essentially WWE, yet they always put on the better show from beginning to end. It's night and day how HHH runs it compared to Vince. Now onto Survivor Series. I just hope it's not overbooked, because these Elimination Matches tend to do that. They try to do too many things and it'll feel like nonsense... but we'll see.

Yes it was glorious! Seriously I've watched that entrance like 6 times since last night. Nakamura with 5 violin players was excellent too!

I still thought Dillinger had some work to do to build his brand before heading to the top level. I thought they just gave him some extra time with the crowd because it was in Toronto. I loved how the crowd was chanting "this is awesome" just after the two entrances.

I was watching with a friend who said as much , , he can't get into tm61. I agree they and authors of pain are pretty generic. But they performed well. That dive off the metal crane thing was crazy!

I'm in on DIY. Great match, and such a perfect way to end it with the double tap out.

I loved asuke and James each holding the ropes for the other and doing their own denial. Solid match if not the worst on the card (not saying much).

Shinsuke and joe was brutal and solid. I was shocked that joe won. I really figured they'd let nakamura go on an extended title run. I guess win them showing highlights on WWE today of him sitting alone backstage after the match unable to accept his defeat, it'll be a redemption path for him. But it wasn't that long of a title run.

You have to start getting roode into title level status in NXT soon right?

And the crowd is chanting "10" for every count out call during the opening match at survivor series 😏

Quick Thoughts on survivor series:

Women's opening match was okay. Seemed a bit too easy for some of them to get pinned, but I understand the time constraints. Good for bayley, maybe this will start a nice feud with Charlotte

I'm tired of the miz. I get he's a heel and his wife will help him cheat, but how many times going can we see that? Just let one of them win. So if smackdown gets the ic title because of interference, what random interim title will they create for raw?

American alpha are awesome! Cesaro and Seamus who win but hate each other is growing on me..

I'd say that was a pro-Y2J crowd..

Fun 10 man match, nothing groundbreaking. Ellsworth's bump from strowman was nasty. So funny they push roman as a face, he gets booed. They're pushing AJ as a heel, his cheers are getting louder..

Finale - uh what the heck was that? Is that Lesnar's pennance for testing for a "substance in UFC?

They advertised Survivor Series as 4 hours since it started at 4 PM. But it was only like 3 hours and 25 minutes long. o_o That's fine I suppose since 4 hours is way too much anyway.

- Women's Match. Yikes, it was a botch fest for the most part. That's the thing with the Traditional Survivor Series matches. Typically they don't break up pinfalls or submissions, but strangely enough Team RAW was doing it and Smackdown wasn't. I do like how they developed the story for both sides. Nikki Bella being taken out before the match. Who did it? Was it Natalya so that she could get a spot on the team? Then you got Charlotte eliminating two people with a simple boot to the face. You're right, a little too easy. But they added story here with Bayley getting the final pinfall but Charlotte attacked her after so they can feud at Roadblock.

- Miz retaining the IC Title was actually kind of genius. That's just how heels are, they find a way to win no matter what. I laughed when Maryse rang the bell and just pointed at the bell guy, "He did it!". That's just how heels are. They'll hardly ever win cleanly. I wish they would more often to add to their credibility but Vince doesn't see it that way. But keep in mind ucsdguy that RAW already has a midcard title. The United States Championship that Super Roman has. If Smackdown lost the IC Title, that wouldn't have made too much sense.

- The Tag Team Elimination match started off dumb. Breezango getting eliminated right away and then New Day. Mauro was screaming "WOW!!!" as if the fast elimination was suppose to be shocking. But I personally hate that. It makes the teams look very stupid. However, they made American Alpha, The Usos, Gallows & Anderson, Enzo & Cass, and Sheamus & Cesaro look really strong. That's the most important thing. They all looked really good so that was nice to see.

- Kalisto vs The Brian Kendrick was okay. The point of the Cruiserweight division is that we're suppose to see high flying action all the time. But Brian Kendrick's style is to slow everything down, which unfortunately makes it a snooze fest. Baron Corbin being extremely selfish and costing Smackdown the Cruiserweight Division is interesting. Daniel Bryan said he'll deal with him on Tuesday. What I'd really like to see is a trade between Corbin and Zayn. Especially since Sami Zayn is being wasted on RAW.

- Men's Elimination Match was nuts. Did that match seriously last a whole hour? The pacing started slow but there was so much to digest. Ambrose being eliminated first was surprising and quite frankly, it was stupid of him to keep going after AJ Styles. Shane was suppose to keep the peace, but seriously. The logical thing would be to strip Ambrose of his title shot if he didn't get along with the team. But since that wasn't the case, he kept screwing his team over.

I think Shane got in a little too much offense. But man, I hope he didn't get injured. Something tells me that he was suppose to be one of the sole survivors because when Roman speared him, the ref counted to two and stopped when he realized Shane wasn't moving. Good on the wrestlers for recognizing the injury and quickly moving the fight to the outside while the refs and doctors can tend to Shane. I also noticed that Orton quickly went to Shane's kid at ringside and told him what happened. No idea what he said to Shane's kid, but it was nice of Orton to think of him. WWE = Family.

Owens getting DQed by using the List was weak but I guess they had to find a way to get him out without being pinned. The same thing with Ellsworth grabbing Strowman's legs so he would get counted out. Pretty smart and I forgot Ellsworth was at ringside. He took a nasty table bump off the stage too. Good on him for being a team player. Overall, the story is that Orton sacrificed himself to make sure Bray Wyatt got the win. I really hope Orton sticks around as a Wyatt Family member for a longer period of time. It's an interesting dynamic.

- Lesnar/Goldberg sucked. Lesnar, a part timer and Goldberg was a one time deal. And to be honest, I never liked Goldberg since his matches (and how he got famous) was just because he would win 1-2 minute matches in WCW. I think two things happened with this match. Goldberg got hurt while training for the match so he couldn't actually wrestle. But also because Vince probably wants Lesnar/Goldberg again at the Royal Rumble since it's at the Alamo with 40,000+ fans. So my best guess is that the story here is Lesnar not being ready for Goldberg or that he underestimated him. Either way, I hated that finish big time because they had Lesnar END Undertaker's streak, only to job to Goldberg. That to me, is stupid as hell. Plus I also wonder how much bonus $$$ Vince had to pay Brock to job like that.

So overall, NXT blew WWE's main PPV out of the water as usual. It was a fun weekend of wrestling though. Smackdown's TLC PPV is in 2 weeks so we'll see where they go from here. So far it's Ambrose vs Styles in a TLC Match. They'll likely have Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss for the Women's Title. Throw in Kalisto vs Corbin, Nikki Bella vs Carmella/Natalya/Whoever took her out, and Slater/Rhyno vs The Usos for the Tag Titles.

yeah I get the heel aspect. I guess I was just surprised of how Ziggler went through so much, and put his career on the line to finally beat Miz, then boom loses it so quickly. Wish they would've had the entire Ziggler/Miz thing happen after survivor series somehow.

ah forgot about the US title, thanks.

When the ref stopped the count, I thought either Shane is acting really well or that guy is concussed! The announcers seemed a bit perplexed too.

TLC in only 2 weeks? Too many ppv's! (cynical me)

PS did we all see Jim Ross at ringside for the NXT ppv? Miss that guy!

It's actually cool that the WWE keeps falling out with JR and yet they keep reconciling over wrassslin'
