SENSE8 Casting and Plot Revealed (http://collider.com/sense8-cast-plot/)

Here?s how Straczynski explained the plot:
?The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other?s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.?

I looked there but all the ones I saw appeared to be scams. Buy a card for a low price which is cool. Find out that they bought the card with a stolen credit card and they cancel the Netflix card. They would get cash refund back from Netflix. I don't trust Ebay in this case.

Just buy from a reputable seller and you'll be fine. Even in the unlikely event you have a problem, ebay almost always sides with the buyer so you would get your money back that way. I bought one on ebay before with no issues.

I have been searching eBay for the last few weeks and there have only been a couple of gift cards being sold by the same person who joined within the last month. I just thought of something. I'll just add my credit card to my parents account and pay that way since Netflix doesn't want to sell gift cards.

Bloodline Teaser Trailer; Netflix's Original Series Stars Kyle Chandler (http://collider.com/bloodline-teaser-trailer/)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de50trNEvf8

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming original series Bloodline. Per the logline, “Set in the Florida Keys, Bloodline centers on a close-knit family of four adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home.” That’s a solid premise, but it becomes a must-see when you have a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, and Sissy Spacek. This teaser trailer is incredibly brief, but it immediately conveys the show’s presumably dark and brooding tone.

Ah. Well, for those times you want to watch something not on US Netflix, why not just use Hola and plug your computer into the TV? Assuming you have an HDMI out on the PC and an HDMI in on the TV, it is really simple. Simpler than setting up a VPN on your device, I would imagine.

Peaky Blinders. A BBC gangster show, set in 1920's Birmingham. Two seasons are on Netflix, the third is in production. Cilian Murphy is terrific in the lead as the leader of the gang, as is Sam Neill, who plays the cop chasing him. I haven't gotten there yet, but Tom Hardy is in Season 2. Beautifully shot, great production values. If you were a Boardwalk Empire fan, this is right up your alley.

Is Netflix declaring war on geo-dodgers? (http://www.canberratimes.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/is-netflix-declaring-war-on-geododgers-20150104-12hlvq.html)

The crackdown reportedly began over the Christmas break, when several providers of virtual private networks (VPNs) - tools used to make it appear you are in another country - noticed their internet protocol (IP) address ranges blocked from accessing Netflix, according to TorrentFreak, a blog that reports news and trends on file sharing.

An updated version of Netflix's Android app also started to make it harder to bypass location restrictions, the blog said.

One of the largest VPN providers, TorGuard, told TorrentFreak it started noticing problems mid-December.

Despite this, Netflix told technology publication Engadget there had been no change in the way it handled VPNs.

"This is a brand new development," TorGuard's Ben Van der Pelt told the publication.

"A few weeks ago we received the first report from a handful of clients that Netflix blocked access due to VPN or proxy usage. This is the first time I've heard Netflix displaying this type of error message to a VPN user."

Unblock-Us, another service that allows people to bypass geolocation blocks, also noted issues on its website, but said it had found a work-around.

TorrentFreak said the crackdown didn't come as a surprise. A leaked document it obtained showed a draft of the content protection agreement Sony Pictures Entertainment prepared for Netflix earlier last year, which required Netflix to verify that registered users were where they said they were.

Netflix must "use such geolocation bypass detection technology to detect known web proxies, DNS-based proxies, anonymising services and VPNs which have been created for the primary intent of bypassing geo-restrictions", the document, posted on the publication's website, stated.

Sarandos was, of course, ready for it and said there were multiple reasons why Netflix hasn't told you how many people watch their shows and why Netflix will continue not to tell you how many people watch their shows.

"The biggest one is that most of the business reasons why you would publish ratings is you would use it to justify ad rates and we don't sell advertising and you might use it to justify carriage fees to cable operators and we don't have those relationships with cable operators. So there's no real business reason for us to internally or externally report those numbers," Sarandos said.

Oh, I think I like this guy.

Rabbit Lets You Watch Netflix, YouTube, Browse the Web with Friends (http://lifehacker.com/rabbit-lets-you-watch-netflix-youtube-browse-the-web-1678199419)

Chrome/Opera: Watching Netflix online with other people usually involves counting down and hitting play together. Rabbit gets around this by allowing everyone to watch the same feed together. The service supports Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, or anything that runs in the browser.

At its core, Rabbit is a group chat service with voice and video support. In that respect, it's not much different than Hangouts. Where it distinguishes itself, however, is by allowing you to launch a window where you and your other guests can watch things like Netflix together. As you'll quickly notice, what you're really watching is a small virtualized Chrome instance, so anything that can be played in a browser can be shared with your friends. It even has Adblock Plus pre-installed.

My new addiction on Netflix is RAKE. This is the original Australian show (boobs!) and not the crappy US remake with Greg Kinnear. It's about a criminal defense lawyer who loves drinking, gambling, cocaine and hookers. Basically, if you can imagine Bender from Futurama as an Aussie criminal defense lawyer, you have a pretty good portrait of the protagonist. The actor who plays him is terrific and pulls off the charming, charismatic a-hole role with aplomb.

The first episode stars Hugo Weaving as a mild-mannered economist who also happens to be a cannibal; he can't quite understand why this is so upsetting to people. After being arrested, he allows that his wife might be "a little upset" finding out about him eating another man (and feeding him to her as "chicken") and asks his defense team to pass along a message to her that "every marriage has its ups and downs" and that they'll "get through this." It's a great little show, check it out.

Adam Sandler’s First Netflix Movie Called RIDICULOUS 6; Huge Cast Revealed
http://collider.com/adam-sandler-ridiculous-6/

Back when it was announced that Adam Sandler had signed a four picture deal with Netflix, there was a lot of misplaced schadenfreude. On the face of it, a lot of people were happily interpreting this whole thing as a career blow for Sandler when it’s likely anything but. Netflix is a very smart company and it’s not like Sandler and his posse work for scale so the likelihood is that whatever metrics Netflix is looking at (info we don’t have a prayer of obtaining) indicate that the money they stand to gain from this outweighs the rather large above-the-line costs for these comedies.

With that out of the way, the first movie out of the gate looks to be called Ridiculous 6. Per The Wrap, it was previously set up at Sony and Paramount. It’s a Western and the cast includes names not old and new to Happy Madison with Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz, Vanilla Ice, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell and Lavell Crawford set to appear. The movie was written by Sandler and frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy, with a director announcement coming soon. It starts shooting next month.

I’m not always a huge Adam Sandler fan, but I oddly found myself really liking That’s My Boy, which is one of his least successful “on brand” movies. If Netflix allows him the freedom to make something that amazingly off color and tacky with Ridiculous 6, I’m onboard.

That's a great cast.

Netflix has announced that 2016 will see the premiere of "The Get Down," a new series from the "Moulin Rouge" filmmaker. Luhrmann will executive produce and direct the first two episodes of the thirteen-episode, one hour program focused on the troubled New York City in the 1970s. A rag-tag crew of South Bronx teenagers make the most of their ruined environment, armed only with verbal games, improvised dance steps, some magic markers and spray cans. From Bronx tenements to the SoHo art scene; from CBGBs to Studio 54 and to the just-built World Trade Center, "The Get Down" is a mythic saga of how a nearly bankruptcy New York City gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco.

Netflix Nears Big Deal For New Cary Fukunaga Film (http://deadline.com/2015/03/netflix-beasts-of-no-nation-idris-elba-1201384775/)

Netflix is near a deal to acquire Beasts Of No Nation, the new film by True Detective helmer Cary Fukunaga about the experiences of a child soldier fighting in a civil war in an African country.

The film, which Fukunaga scripted based on the novel by Uzodinma Iweala, stars Idris Elba as a warlord who takes in the child soldier and systematically strips away his humanity.

and then...

Netflix To Release $12 Million Beasts Of No Nation Simultaneously With “Select” Theatrical Release (http://variety.com/2015/film/news/netflix-releasing-beasts-of-no-nation-simultaneously-in-theaters-and-streaming-service-1201445241/)

The new media giant stunned Hollywood this week when it plunked down $12 million for worldwide rights to the drama about a child soldier in Africa. It boasts a top-shelf cast that includes Idris Elba and arrives courtesy of director Cary Fukunaga, the auteur behind “Sin Nombre” and the buzzy HBO series “True Detective.”

Netflix stresses that the film would debut in “select” theaters — an important caveat given that its distribution platform will mean some exhibitors won’t show the film. Most major theater chains refuse to screen films that do not honor a 90 day delay between their theatrical debut and their home entertainment premiere. Netflix is partnering with Imax and the Weinstein Company on a sequel to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” but most exhibitors are boycotting the film because it does not honor traditional release windows.

Those movies often play at festivals but have few opportunities beyond that to get eyeballs. With Netflix, these documentaries will have global distribution on the streaming service that now claims to have 57 million subscribers in 50 countries. That, plus DiCaprio’s brand name, opens these documentaries to a lot of potential eyeballs and an opportunity to create awareness for worthy issues.

Is it just me or has Tucker had the weirdest/laziest career...if you can even call it that. Good in comedies and so much untapped potential in dramas, check out Dead Presidents or his cameo in Jackie Brown. Even in the formulaic Rush Hour movies you can tell he is special. Just finished the first season of Black Mirror, a British show. The first season was only three episodes long but they are stand alone stories and man are they memorable. I'm struggling to describe it so I'm just gonna rip the plot line off imdb, "A television anthology series that shows the dark side of life and technology".

In the first episode a member of the royal family is kidnapped and the only demand is that the prime minister must have sex with a pig until completion live on television. A crude and disgusting way to get your attention but it worked for me, that's a premise I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. While the first episode is sort of gimmicky, the following two were very good, definitely way better. They portrayed some sci fi scenarios of where our society could be heading if what pop culture is now gets taken to the extreme. The production value and acting in this show is terrific.

Check it out, I'd definitely recommend it. Not for everyone though, but the weird and disgusting is mostly contained to the first episode so feel free to skip that if you're put off by it.

The wife and I finished this last night. It was a lot better than I was expecting. It's got a very similar style of humor to 30 Rock, without being as funny. If you put it on a scale of Big Bang Theory (0) to Arrested Development (10), I would say it scores a solid seasons 4-5 of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

I recommend it, to fans of 30 Rock, but be wary that it is overly upbeat and bouncy at times. The theme song makes me want to kill myself.

But it was good fun.

Ben Mendelsohn as Danny is absolutely brilliant in Bloodline. I had seen him in something, but couldn't remember what, so I had to look it up: "Killing Them Softly." He was also terrific in that, which is a very underrated flick in my opinion. A great cast with Mendelsohn, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Sam Shepard, Ray Liotta. Available for streaming on Netflix and well worth a look.

I need to watch that movie again because I was unimpressed with it when I saw it in theaters.

Andrew Dominik, though, so it deserves another shot.

Paul Verhoeven's 'Flesh & Blood' is on Netflix.

http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/60033889?trkid=439131

A buddy of mine, who says Verhoeven is his favorite director of all time, reviewed the film thusly:

Some medieval mercenary peasants led by Rutger Hauer are betrayed by a king or a lord or whatever, so they rob the king lord's caravan and end up kidnapping his son's fianc? (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and she has to pretend to become one of them to survive, and maybe kinda does become one of them. This film is dark, vicious, and ****ing epic. Verhoeven's direction and the performances of Rutger Hauer and Susan Tyrrell are totally amazing, but Jennifer Jason Leigh is phenomenal. Not only am I pretty sure that she's naked just as often as Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls, but she also gives the first performance I've ever seen where I feel it necessary to use the word "nuanced." She makes the movie entirely her own story, and it's brilliant.

I'm excited.

Netflix Adds to its Horror Slate with Montauk
http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/95546/netflix-adds-to-its-horror-slate-with-montauk/

Netflix, the world’s leading internet TV network, has ordered “Montauk,” a new supernatural drama series written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (“Wayward Pines,” Hidden). Eight one-hour long episodes of the series will premiere exclusively across all Netflix territories in 2016.

In the series, set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family, and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one very strange little girl. “Montauk” is a love letter to the 80s classics that captivated a generation.

“Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense. Their unique voice infuses this coming of age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix.

The Duffer Brothers, who recently directed their first feature film, Hidden, for Warner Bros., are writing and directing the series and will serve as executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen via their 21 Laps entertainment banner (The Spectacular Now, Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night). “Montauk” is a Netflix production.

Some of the key points being criticized are inaccurate in terms of how I understood the logistics of the crimes in the show. Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but I actually thought it was clever how they were able to re-introduce some grittiness into an increasingly upscale real-life Hell's Kitchen.

Seriously, isn't it weird how gritty Hell's Kitchen was when these stories were originally being written? And now it's hipsterville, lol, there goes the neighborhood.

I finished Daredevil yesterday which was full of so much win. The action in that series, but what made it so good was just well the characters were developed and the inclusion of great flashback sequences. It was really sad at times too.

Sweet Christmas! Now I am really excited for the Luke Cage series and seeing what they do with that character and his story. We are going to get more than just a big dude beating on people while shouting Sweet Christmas. Not that seeing a big dude opening a can of whoop ass on people who are really asking for it isn't worth the price of admission. ;)

Netflix Picks Up David Michod's 'War Machine' Starring Brad Pitt (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/netflix-picks-up-david-michods-war-machine-starring-brad-pitt-20150608)

Last year, "Animal Kingdom" and "The Rover" helmer David Mich?d signed up to write and direct the movie based on Michael Hastings' best-seller "The Operators," that tells the true story of the rise and fall of General Stanley McChrystal, the commanding general of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Brad Pitt was previously signed up to produce and will now star was well, with the movie taking on the tone of a "satirical comedy." Here's the book synopsis:

A shocking behind-the-scenes portrait of our military commanders, their high-stake maneuvers, and the political firestorm that shook the United States.

In the shadow of the hunt for Bin Laden and the United States’ involvement in the Middle East, General Stanley McChrystal, the commanding general of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan, was living large. His loyal staff liked to call him a “rock star.” During a spring 2010 trip, journalist Michael Hastings looked on as McChrystal and his staff let off steam, partying and openly bashing the Obama administration. When Hastings’s article appeared in Rolling Stone, it set off a political firestorm: McChrystal was unceremoniously fired.

In The Operators, Hastings picks up where his Rolling Stone coup ended. From patrol missions in the Afghan hinterlands to senior military advisors’ late-night bull sessions to hotel bars where spies and expensive hookers participate in nation-building, Hastings presents a shocking behind-the-scenes portrait of what he fears is an unwinnable war. Written in prose that is at once eye-opening and other times uncannily conversational, readers of No Easy Day will take to Hastings’ unyielding first-hand account of the Afghan War and its cast of players.

Netflix confirmed what had been long rumored today —the company is working to get a fifth season of "Arrested Development" on their streaming service. “We are plugging along,” Ted Sarandos said today. “It’s a very long, complex deal to make for these guys, both because the talent is very busy and working on other shows, but also because the show is owned by Fox… It is our intent to have a new season of 'Arrested Development.' All the negotiations are underway.”

I am now about midway through the second season of Breaking Bad via NetFlix. Glad I got to do the series the right way and watch it from the very beginning. The show is better than I thought it would be. Ding!

It's all about getting started. I think I got into it when people wouldn't stop talking about it. By that time it was maybe... the 3 season? Maybe 4th? When I watched the first episode, it didn't blow me away either. All I can say without spoilers is that the pacing of Breaking Bad is different than all the TV shows I'm used to. I didn't dislike it, so I kept watching. After a few more episodes, I was absolutely hooked on the characters.

So yeah, make yourself watch it. You won't regret it.

John Oliver, Lena Headey & Count Duckula Join Diversifying "Danger Mouse" (http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/john-oliver-lena-headey-count-duckula-join-diversifying-danger-mouse)

The bombastic British superspy rodent called Danger Mouse may be on nostalgia listicles everywhere for its ’80s heyday, but at Comic-Con International 2015, the dry-witted cartoon revealed a very new face, diversified ahead of its Netflix revival — and a lot of new cast came along for the ride including HBO stars John Oliver and Lena Headey and longtime cartoon counterpart Count Duckula.

Did I miss this?? Awesome!

Very interested in this, even if only because Jose Padilha is directing the first episode and producing. I still haven't watched the Robocop remake, but when the man gets to do what he wants like with the Elite Squad movies, he's pretty fantastic.

I thought I saw Jiro Dreams of Sushi (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1772925/) on the list of titles to be removed this month, but I don't see any removal date in the description. Nonetheless, I finally watched it. It's a good thing I ate beforehand, otherwise the images of sushi would have caused some cravings.

Overall, it was an enjoyable documentary, and the portrayal of dedication to quality was an inspiration to my own life.

To quote Event Horizon "liberate tutame" - "save yourself.". It's so bland and nondescript as to actually be nothing. There are two scenes where his visual flair for shooting action sequences is actually allowed to happen and they aren't good enough to justify the movie.

Binge watched Narcos on Sunday. I dug it. Reminded me of some of the modern crime shows that have been on lately like True Detective or Breaking Bad. Guy who played Pablo was pretty good.

Review: Netflix's 'Narcos' Starring Wagner Moura And Boyd Holbrook (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/review-netflixs-narcos-starring-wagner-moura-and-boyd-holbrook-20150902)

For all the talent that was there behind and, for the most part, in front of, the camera, the result is so muddled that I have to wonder if there was too many cooks in this kitchen. Perhaps a more creative route would work better for this grand crime tale. After all, Netflix isn’t bound by the typical rules/structure of traditional TV. Why not make duel mini-series, one from the US side and the other focusing on Colombia? Or just focus strictly on Escobar and go from there. It’s hopefully not too late to right this ship if we get more episodes. But one thing is certain: great crime tales are all about immersing the viewer in the world of the characters, and “Narcos” never stuck its hooks in me. It even became a slog to finish about midway through. But, if this show can’t do it, maybe the next film about Escobar will let the man be at the center of his own story. [C-]

Venice Review: Cary Joji Fukunaga's 'Beasts Of No Nation' Starring Idris Elba (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/venice-review-cary-joji-fukunagas-beasts-of-no-nation-starring-idris-elba-20150902)

It is long, it is demanding and it gives us no easy answers or pat conclusions, but "Beasts of No Nation" performs a crucial service in making us understand that this is not "Boko Haram" or "ISIS" or a bunch of undifferentiated, unwanted kids killing each other in a distant Third World country. This is you or me, but for the grace of whatever God Agu prays to in vain. And why would God answer? As even the Commandant says at one point, this is not the work of God, but of man. [A]
