Damn, standup guy and all-around great ambassador for baseball in SD.

I'll always remember him for being a beast in Ken Griffey Jr's baseball on SNES

Ahman, way too young! He was my favorite once Rod Carew retired.

Rattled. Saw him not too long ago. Us padres fans are crushed right now. Thank you Mr. Padre

Crap =\ RIP to a class act player. Don't like the Padres but always respected this guy for HOW he played the game.

Kinda scary when the players you used to idolized when you were a kid start dying :S Last week it was Bob Welch.

RIP to a great human being.

This guy was a hero of mine through childhood.

I'll never forget being bat boy for the dodgers in 1995 in a game against san diego, when a dodgers team rep that found out I was a huge fan took me on the field to ask Tony to sign a ball. That "Mr. Gwynn would you please sign a ball for me" almost made me crap my pants. Biggest smile ever when he signed the ball, took a picture, and talked for a good 5-10 minutes to say hello, remind me to learn my fundamentals and enjoy the game.

Was a pleasure to watch him play year after year.

I hate when people who made up good parts of my childhood pass away.
