View Full Version : Where to get the jerseys numbered and lettered properly?

King Smokey

I know its been asked again and again, but I did a search and didn't see any old thread. I just got a jersey from that great sale and now I need it numbered, lettered, and patched. Where is the best place?

P.S... I'm in Huntington Beach so if there's one in OC I'd try it, but I am not afraid to send it somewhere to get done.

Thanks for any leads.

^ +1. I had my wife's jersey (Kyle Clifford) done at the kiosk, as well as mine. We opted for heat press, dropped off before the game, was ready by the 2nd intermission. I also had one done at HockeyMonkey in Irvine for my wife (Willie Mitchell), it was sewn on. My buddy was a supervisor there so I got a great price for the jersey and numbering/lettering.

I just got a blank authentic, and plan on taking it to him to get it numbered, lettered and adding a SC Champs patch (leaning towards getting Williams). I'll report back on it once it's done, but he's been answering my emails and such in the meantime.

I had trouble getting the slew of jersey's I sent him done, but it did happen during the lockout.

Thanks guys. All my jerseys so far are authentic and I was soooo close to buying a chinese one but I read that the colors aren't perfect or the patches are the wrong size..... This one is too important to me to not be correct. I emailed bobcat athletics and I will double check with hockey monkey because I know a bunch of people there...

I'm going to eventually get a Brown from 2012 but for this one, I am going to get either Kopitar or Williams. Not sure yet...

ya, i got it done at the dick's down in tustin. i live in HB also, but the HB location doesn't do it.
dick's in the tustin marketplace has a jersey customization office in the back that's open M-F, 9a-5p.
prices are as follows--
$9 for heat press + $50 if they have to order the NHL kit (which is likely).
$45 for hand stitching + $50 for NHL kit + tax = $102 for the throwback jersey i had done.
add $5 if you want the letters stitched onto a name plate like the authentic game worns have.
i'm pretty sure they do the heat pressing in house. they send the jerseys out to get stitched, but there is no extra shipping cost.
UNLESS all you want stitched on is the cup final/champ patch. that's $3 for the stitching and $5 for shipping. otherwise, they'd lose $ if they didn't charge the shipping fee on a small job like that.

i'm pretty happy with my jersey. they also did my moller jersey about 5 yrs ago.

my bad. they offered it to me, going off a model on their computer similar to this:
https://static.squarespace.com/static/5007b2ea84aef6ab9cd08134/52de001ae4b0702987180f2c/52de002ee4b07029871905db/1286493511037/1000w/KingsThrowbackRendering.png

i declined though because i couldn't remember either way, mine's not an authentic and i actually don't like the look of the name plate. so my letters are sewn on individually.

here's a pic I had posted in another thread.

So I called Monkey Sports in Irvine to see if they have what I'm looking for.

Sold out, not ordering any more because they want to wait to see if there will be changes to the sweater in the upcoming season.

River City Sports - Strike 1
Bobcat Athletic - Strike 2 (apparently)
Monkey Sports - Strike 3

there's an office tucked into the very back. it looks almost like you would be walking into their stock room or something, but it's not. just ask one of their sales lackeys in the front if you can't find it. they'll point you in the correct direction, that's what i did. remember, they're only open M-F, 9a-5p.

It seems "Authentic" no longer means what it used to. The ones they sell in the stores are now made in Indonesia. Still a good jersey, but not the same quality as what the players wear on the ice.

Authentic Jerseys are the same EDGE material as the replicas. The players wear EDGE 2.0 which is mostly Air Knit Material like the older CCM jersey sets.

I've just been in communication with EPS myself. Very quick response, I must say. I am leaning heavily towards going there, but depends on lead time (waiting on that answer). Bobcat is within driving distance, so that may be the deciding factor for me, but we'll see. I did, however, ask EPS and they do it exactly to team specs. So you will get individually sewn-on letters and numbers.

They also will strip existing letters/numbers and replace them. Thinking about doing it with my Doughty jersey, which came customized as a nameplate.

I've been learning a lot from EPS. Talking to a Joshua Kliebe there via email, and the longest its taken him to reply to anything has been 36 minutes (!!). Very, very impressed so far. I've learned from him that coolhockey.com (where I got my Doughty jersey) typically uses heavy (and awful) adhesive under the nameplate, so stripping my Doughty jersey and re-lettering it to team specs is probably out. I will definitely be sending him my new blank one for customization shortly - $55 for that, $6.50 for sewing on the SC Champs patch and $13.95 for return shipping (insured). Not too bad - pretty much in line with everyone else on the net and elsewhere. But the customer service so far...off the charts. The kind of thing that restores your faith in humanity a little bit.

Joshua Kliebe personally handled my order. Initially i was concerned about the authenticity of the materials. Joshua guaranteed that their materials/tackle twill is of the highest quality, and their ability to replicate to exact team specs, is the best in the industry. My other concern was shipping a rare BK sweater to the east coast! Could he also guarantee the integrity of the jersey (white jersey) while in their possession? Joshua ensured me that the jersey was in good hands, and that he'd see to it that no soiling would occur during the alteration process. His willingness to listen to my concerns, and address them with the utmost confidence sold me.

Yep - I think the deal is sealed for me. I'll be processing my order and shipping my sweater off to him soon. I just have to fully commit to whose name.number I'm going with, LOL.

And then I need to find a good, reliable source for the Canadian-made authentic sweaters. I lucked out through River City Sports on this one, but they are getting very hard to find...

More than likely, yes. I looked at my patches, and I don't see this hard plastic backing, so I'm not sure if I got lucky or what. But, best bet is to e-mail them over at EPS - Joshua Kliebe is likely the one who will answer, and from my experience, you will not wait long for a professional answer.

So far, I have gotten NO response from Bobcat Athletic, and the prices at Hockey Monkey are $49.95 for Name and Numbers, and $6.95 for a C or A. I am guessing around the same price for the Stanley Cup Finals patch except they don't have any so I'd have to supply that and they will sew it on.

Dicks in Tustin, the entire thing is $99 (minus the finals patch). Thats a BIG price difference. I am hoping Monkey does a good job for the people here because I will be heading there soon.

It appears EPS charges $55 for name and number which is a great price but you have to add shipping in both directions.

Anyone get theirs done at Hockey Monkey and want to share their experiences?

Bob at Bobcat called me this afternoon. he explained they have been absolutely slammed with work and just were not able to keep up with all the business they've been getting. Also there was employee vacations that had had to be taken. Answering phones and email in a timely manner was next to impossible.

He's a super nice guy and a giant fountain of info. Bob said he'd be all to happy to letter my jersey to exact Kings specs...

My jersey???

D'oh!!! I was contacting him to buy a jersey and have it lettered.

Bob explained how Reebok is running the truly NHL-authentic jersey (Reebok Edge 2.0 Model #7287 (http://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=7287) ) business, and it's not pretty. Apparently Reebok just does't care much about their NHL merch and only sells the real-deals to the teams. Once in a while the real NHL jerseys will slip out, but not many and not often.

Hopefully he'll be able to contact you soon.

Kind of off topic. Has anyone had a name plate replaced on their reebok replicas? In specific on the current white away jerseys.

I'm thinking of getting a custom name plate, but I know it would be smaller than the current name plate it's replacing and I was wondering if the old name plate would leave an outline on the white jersey?

It not only looks cleaner, it's closer to the actual on ice version that the players wear!

That would be tough to say. Talk to Josh at EPS (jkliebe@exclusivepro.com). He was a wealth of knowledge for me, and also the reason I elected NOT to send my Doughty sweater (with nameplate) to him for stripping and re-lettering. He told me a lot of places (including the one I ordered my Doughty sweater from) use an awful adhesive under the nameplate, applied before stitching it on (obviously). Many, many of the ones he's seen leave residue that just cannot be taken completely off. Talk to him, and I bet he would be able to make the new nameplate match the existing one so there's no evidence of the swap - and if the adhesive is cooperative (or non-existent), he can even just letter the new name directly to the sweater and it would be to team specs.

I'm sending off my new blank one today for him to customize. I'll report back once all is said and done...

Thanks for the info. It's replica so everything has adhesive instead of stich. I fear that it will leave a residue, but I suppose I can still have the plate be the same size, just with less lettering.

I figured that there might be residue from the old name plate, which is why I'm leaning towards opting to just get a new plate. Also it's a replica jersey so I don't see a great need to have it stiched if it will cost more money and take more time to do.

She did say they did NOT have the Stanley Cup Finals patches so I got a couple online for about $11 each and they charge $7 or $8 to sew those one. My girl doesn't want any players so she is only getting the Finals patch and I am going Kopitar. I will put pictures and exact prices as soon as I have everything.

My girl doesn't want any players so she is only getting the Finals patch and I am going Kopitar. I will put pictures and exact prices as soon as I have everything.

Ya it will only be 50 for hand sewn 2 layer tackle twill numbering trust me :) its really is an amazing price

I was given an authentic last night and just dropped it off at hockey monkey. 50 bucks sounds amazing, and that is the price. I am looking forward to seeing it.

So, I got the call yesterday that my jersey was ready at Hockey Monkey. I dropped it off Saturday at around 3PM, ready at about 10:30 am on Tuesday. So, not the 10-14 business day lead time. Maybe I got lucky. The quality is awesome, superb- phenomenal for the price ($50). It is that tough tackle double twill shenanigans, like the authentics. I am very-very happy.
I cannot post pics now, but if you pm me (or email me at jramirez63@aol.com) I can fwd you a pic.

Hey Mods!

Please make this thread a sticky! It seems to come up every couple of months and a lot of people seem to be wanting the info.

I know that down the road I will be looking into having a jersey or two lettered.

Thanks!

I'll give a thumbs up to Bobcat. $60/jersey, all included. They put on a 'Final' patch that I provided and an 'A' at no additional charge. They also had a smaller font available for my wife's jersey.

Finally picked up my jerseys from local embroiderer this week. Bought the 2012 and 2014 scf and champions patches online and had them stitched onto my two away jerseys I picked up during the jersey sale and my og doughty jersey. Debated for a while on patch placement but this is what I came up with:

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l538/fjcruiseruser/LA%20Kings/20140818_210046.jpg (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/fjcruiseruser/media/LA%20Kings/20140818_210046.jpg.html)

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l538/fjcruiseruser/LA%20Kings/20140818_210054.jpg (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/fjcruiseruser/media/LA%20Kings/20140818_210054.jpg.html)

All together, $10/patch and $10/stitching. Had everything stitched at Sports Jackets Unlimited in Whittier (just down the street from my house). Guys were cool to deal with and even offered advice on patch placement. Will be taking more jerseys there to get patched.

The only thing left is to get my two new away jerseys autographed at meet the players haha.

I got my 2 jerseys back from Hockey Monkey. The numbers and letters are awesome but BOTH jerseys, they Stanley Cup Finals patch is on crooked. Now they want me to bring them back to have them fixed. Will I see any damage in the patch OR the jersey from this?

Welp... Bobcat's not replying to emails or phone calls so I dropped it off at Hockey Monkey in Irvine today. Gonna be a long 4 weeks but if they do it right it'll be worth it!

It turns out Monkey Sports in Irvine is the real-deal.

I was told my sweater would take a month to get done, they ended up doing it in a week! Everything looks spot-on and I'm very happy with their (well, whomever they sent it out to) work. Price = $50.

$50! That's a good price, did you have to send it in or just show up at the store and leave it there? How's the quality?

I need to get my road jersey lettered, but still deciding on who to get. And where to get it done.

I have lots of letters in my name, 2-digit numbers, captain "C", 2012 Final patch sew-on were all just $49.98 which I think is a great deal.

There's nothing to it, you go in the store and at the front counter will fill out a form with what name/number/C or A/patches/nameplate or no nameplate/etc and where they go. The people I worked with obviously do this all the time and knew what they were doing.

Due to the problems I had in the past I thoroughly inspected letter, number, and 2012 patch and was very satisfied with the materials and work. If I do another sweater I'd go back to Monkey Sports for the work.

The tags in that picture indicate that it is a 7287 authentic (M7287112C and on the ID line is 14M-051-7287RBK-???)

So it took over 2 months, but hockeyMonkey finally came through for me.

To recap, my first jerseys to them came back with the Stanley Cup Finals patch just slightly crooked. So we sent them back and they fixed them and that took a normal amount of time, around 3 weeks. But when they came back, the staples they used to attach the order form to the box caused nasty snags in both jerseys.

Now it took them a little while to replace my xxxl Reebok but they did it, renumbered them and put the patches on, and now they look perfect. Dana worked very hard to help get the situation fixed, and even though it took a while I'm very happy with the jerseys I got from them. If and when I get more jerseys numbered, I have no problem going back to hockey monkey.

Also, because of this situation, they changed their procedures on putting jerseys in a heavy bag before going in boxes and how they attach the order forms so no more staples are used.

Team La (Staples Center) has Canadian made authentic jerseys for those looking, blank and name+numbered. I think they've done away with Indonesian authentics too as I didn't see any in the store.

I sent my brother's jersey to get personalized at HockeyMonkey. I expected good work and was still blown away. The 2012 Final patch was where it needed to be. Great price too !

I think they used the wrong A for my throwback Kopi but I think it looks better so I'm happy.

Now I'm just expecting my Gretzky BK and Martinez 2013 Stadium Series jerseys to come back from that spot in IL that was recommended in this thread. I am so excited ! Only a couple more weeks. I might even get the poncho personalized if I make a few more bucks. Hahaha.

Received a Reebok Forum Gold Premier jersey and want to customize it. I live in Ventura Co. Suggestions welcomed as to hand sewn, ironed, Staples kiosk etc. Was hoping to have it done by the next Legends game in February. 47 year Die Hard.

Just received my BK and 2013 Stadium Series jerseys from Exclusive Pro Sports. Wow !!! They cleaned up a botched lettering job on the BK. Everything looks amazing. Worth every cent I paid. It took a little longer but wow... I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I will send them my Wild Wing jersey and get that done.

Just a heads up for anyone with a Legends jersey. The LA Team Store does not carry the letters or numbers for these so they ship out your sweater. 4-6 weeks for p/u.

Anyone know where I can get a heat transfer number done in the valley? This is going to be on a beer league jersey, so as long as they do a half decent job, I really don't care if it is perfect or not.

Discount Hockey on DeSoto & Victory. It's like $7, I think. And if the right person is there, you can get it done while you wait.
