whether you agree or not this is a very interesting read. Best thing I've read in months and I in some ways agree with it.

the NFL may not fix games but I believe they do carry out narratives for financial gain.

Reasons Why The NFL Is Fixed For Profit 03-03-2012-11:41 Covers Blog (http://spaces.covers.com/blog/MaximumWins/NFL/03042012-Reasons-Why-The-NFL-Is-Fixed-For-Profit.html)

small part of article/blog

In 2007 a Jets season ticket holder sued the NFL for $185 million and the case reached the US Supreme Court. The court documents are available online at http://thefixisin.net/resources/precendential+opinion.pdf. The Jets fan argued that, all Jets fans are entitled to refunds because they paid for a ticket to a legitimate sporting event. Had he been aware that the games were not real then we would not have gone.

The NFL's attorneys argued that the fan simply "purchased a ticket which gives him a contractual right to a seat in a stadium to watch an NFL game between the Patriots and Jets, and this right was honored." More, Senior Judge Robert E. Cowen agreed stating that a ticket to a game only provides you access to the stadium and nothing more. The fan entered the stadium, witnessed an NFL game, therefore he did not suffer any damages to legally protected right or interest. The fan's lawyer, Bruce Afran disagreed and argued that the NFL committed consumer fraud saying "This seems to suggest that no matter how much ticker holders pay, they can be frauded by NFL teams which puts the NFL on the same level as professional wrestling".

Afran is correct in his judgement based on the interpretation of game fixing laws. A team can't fix their own games for gambling purposes, nor can they fix an intellectual contest (a ruling based n the Quiz Show scandal of the 1950s) But judges ruled that fixing a game for entertainment purposes was completely LEGAL NFL Attorney Shephard Goldfein actually argued in court supporting this argument saying "fans would likely still buy tickets even if they knew teams were stealing signals" In other word, the NFL knows you will still pay to see football even if you knew it was fake because you love football.

Much like pro wrestling. The Supreme Court threw the case out in favor of the NFL which ultimately makes it legal to fix your own games for entertainment purposes

fast forward to 17:07 of video, expand youtube window to see better.

a slo-mo of the play with Moss and a DB going after a pass.

they get close and grab each other but don't really push off at all. I doubt it was legal to just hold a guy for 10 yards 14 years ago.

they hold each other like they are guiding each other and it even looks like the DB nods at Moss. It looks like Moss touches the DBs shoulder to make him turn to the ball.

Moss got a little injured because its still a sport LOL but no complaint about being held and no officials say anything and the announcers avoid it too.
I'm not looking for aliens or some crap. I just think I see staged football

watch their arms alone a few times. Watch the DBs head alone a few times. Watch moss touch his shoulder a few times. I don't think I'm seeing something that's not there.

I still do not understand how the NFL keeps it's Non-Profit status.

All that money and not a dime in taxes.

And the commissioner only makes 29 mil a year.....

What I love about NFL is that the quarterbacks have a speaker/ear piece in their helmets that they can get plays and whatever else radio'ed into them, and they also wear a trapper keeper on a wristband with about 4 pages of plays on them, and then they have 42 coaches up in the press boxes and on the sidelines and then they get to look at pictures (assuming video by now) on tablets on the sidelines of previous plays and possessions.

as a off the cuff social experiment, I have posted this and and a few thoughts on patterns and coincidences on a few sites .

very few people want to believe its remotely possible and get downright defensive and insulting in the process LOL. I've been banned from 4 sites already LOL.
frankly, There is no doubt in my mind and I know for a fact the games are manipulated and staged but I'll still watch to see what the story line is that develops. I'm the new breed of sports fan. I know its entertainment and that ultimately all the stats are useless.
I still hate white trash wrestling LOL but I guess I cant make that much fun of them anymore.
But I'd rather be around sports fans than people who don't like sports at all.
I like football helmets and the aesthetics of the game. But I now know reading what Peter King has to say about anything is useless and just what the league told him to write.

The TEAMS don't pay taxes. And there's no reason for them to. Almost all revenue goes back into the team by way of marketing, administrative salaries, player salaries, etc. And all those people pay taxes on the money they get. It's not like the government isn't seeing their share or something.

Why do people think it shouldn't be a non-profit?

Also, the games are orchestrated? Ok. If you believe that, great. You're wrong, but roll with it. Literally doesn't change anything.

nope I aint wrong.

you are saying you believe every fantastic finish every week and every year ? you believe a back up QB can throw only 47 passes one year and yet still lead a team to a great playoff win throwing the ball all over the place in one fantastic 3rd quarter ? no, that was obviously manipulated and any intelligent adult cant come up with any other conclusion.

Were the Miracle on Manchester and Frenzy on Figueroa fixes? How does a team so hopeless early in the game find so many goals in a short period of time to win it?

What about the entire 2012 postseason? How does a team with one of the most anemic offenses in the NHL suddenly score 3+ goals a game and start off every series 3-0?

Richards and Carter coming back from down 0-3 again? Suuuuure.....

By your logic, "any intelligent adult" should chalk up any fantastic finish across all sports as a fix. If this is true, why do you even watch sports? Just to see the lolz that the writers came up with this year?

you need to think long and hard about what you just said and maybe rewatch the games. I'M not concerned with other sports right now. I simply know how the NFL does it. You need to understand that if a league and a network can stretch something to 7 games for more profit they definitely will.

sports aren't classified as sports by law. They are classified as tv shows (football is ). they can make any outcome they want.

This one's even more mind-boggling. Now here's my thinking: what if - and this is a big "what if" - what if the NHL was able to embed something metallic into a puck while magnetizing the goal? Couldn't the league then perhaps control a game, repelling an unwanted goal while also being able to pull one in? Far-fetched, I know, but completely crazy?

I'm confused... you do or don't think other sports are fixed? I'm guessing by the videos you posted that you think those are both examples of fixes. Why "aren't you concerned" with others, only the NFL?

I for one think it is amazing that no former player, ref, executive has EVER come out and blown the whistle on this whole operation.

I know specifically how the NFL does it so i'll comment on it.
how is it amazing ? employees make thousands to millions of dollars and do what their employer tells them. Nothing wrong with that.
the whistle has been blown but people are so dumb they think theres no proof unless its in court and a player says something. Anyone who writes an extensive book is laughed at. People are illiterate and have no common sense or deductive reasoning. AT Least half the country anyway. The other half likes football.

The following was sent to me by a fan. It was taken from "Long Island's Own Newspaper" Newsday dated December 8, 1978, and was attributed to Peter Gent, member of the Dallas Cowboys from 1964-68, and author of the great book North Dallas Forty:

"For there should be a fundamental difference between professional and amateur sports that goes beyond the technical distinction of whether athletes make money from their sport. I learned the difference at the end of training camp my rookie year with the Dallas Cowboys. Management called a meeting to explain the responsibilities of being a professional football player. The man to give the best advice was the team's public relations director. He told us: "Boys, this is show business." With these words in mind, nothing about professional sports, even Howard Cosell, is mystifying. Professional athletes are first and foremost show business, dealing in illusion and entertainment. The first responsibility of the players is to the audience, not themselves. If the audience wants winners, that is what is given. If it wants losers, that also it will get. The principle is the same for midget wrestling and the National Football League."

He's just better than us folks without his intellect. The several thousand players are all in on it. Especially the ones that go bankrupt a couple of years after they leave. They don't want to expose the system that made them so wealthy. Wait...hold on. That didn't add up.

Then again, most conspiracies never do.

Also, to answer your question, yes. I believe all those comebacks and fantastic finishes. Know why? Because of the hundreds of other completely regular and common ones that you ignore. Also, because there's zero way to suddenly be able to act after competing at a top level for twenty years. You actually believe that they get to the nfl and they're told in training camps that they have to make it up now? That's supremely laughable.

its fascinating how people cant fathom something so simple.Athletes are by and large not bright. They only last a couple years and waste money. That's just life. It doesn't prove anything else cant happen.

why is it so hard to believe when in fact its true they produce billions of dollars in the NFL.
Again.. you aren't a bright human if you believe a back up can lead a team to the greatest comeback ever when he only threw 47 passes all year. 2 years after one brother gets into the league he goes against his brother in a SB ?! the fact is its always too perfect and they pile up year after year. Its time to get wise.

I just gave you a quote from an ex player how they introduce rookies. Is it that hard for you to comprehend ?

the catholic church hid the fact they were a gay organization hide out for 50 years and you don't think billionaires can do what they want with all the media outlets in the same bed with them ? they make money for and off each other and anyone who complained would be black listed and never work again. Writing a book would make money for a year and that's it.

opening snap- he's so amped he thinks he's hiking for a punt ?

kick off TD 4:55
look at 36 give a lame one arm attempt from behind.
53 gives a cute little fake dive even though he is well behind.
84 falls for no reason just to get out of the way.
54 and 56 just let him go by. Everyone is taking bad angles and slowing down.
and the kicker gives some lame ole bull crap not even trying to slow him down or cut him off.

5:44 Thomas fumble. Tell me it doesn't look like his hand is completely relaxed when the ball is knocked out in the close up replay at 6:07. tell me it looks like the defender tried really hard to knock it out.He is hardly using any force. as a matter of fact it looks like Thomas helped the ball just drop.

Kearse TD 6:14

basically, players are just bumping into him to make it look good. 32 is right there and just caresses Kearses hips .52 just tries to pretend he's a cape on his back. Don't give me the poor tackling clich?

1. If it is all about the storyline, why haven't they scripted a Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl yet?

2. What exactly was the point of fixing the Seattle vs. Denver game to be a total slaughter? Shouldn't the goal be to keep fans interested?

I mean we obviously aren't going to change each other's minds here, but I'll say two more things.

1. Of course there is always a storyline going into the Super Bowl, because the media/PR always finds these storylines and pumps them up. There is always an angle.

2. You site one quote from 40 years ago that is from a FAN (not direct source) as proof that this has been going on forever. Where did he hear this, at taco bell? And even if the quote is 100% accurate, how is telling rookies "this is showbusiness" the equivalent of saying "now you cheat and throw games". Any chance he meant that they are now playing on the grandest stage, everyone is watching, and that they should conduct themselves accordingly?

the quote is Peter Gent who played in the NFL. He said if the public wants a winner or loser, that is what they will get. How is that so confusing for you? The point is there are too many perfect storylines that keep happening and don't you think its weird that older/aging players are getting to Super Bowls so often ? its because they are the popular money makers.

1. If it is all about the storyline, why haven't they scripted a Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl yet?

A- that's a stupid question
B- I don't know, I don't work for the NFL
C- this year it might happen

2. What exactly was the point of fixing the Seattle vs. Denver game to be a total slaughter? Shouldn't the goal be to keep fans interested?

your thinking is incredibly one dimensional. They appease owners as well as appease the fan bases and try to intermingle the 2. plus now they have it set up for Manning to get one before he retires as a great comeback story. Remember how Elway got 2 very late in his career...they are just varying it up with a loss first this time

perfect storyline...sure they are able to bend one any way they choose but they pick the most obvious ones and try to make them seem so natural. Elways last SB was against Atlanta who just so happened to be coached by his old coach Reeves. You were supposed to believe Reeves was so good that he lead this new team to a SB so soon. But Atlanta never sniffed one before or since then. They aren't a major market and or the owner didn't mind just collecting checks. They made sure to take Deion out of Atlanta and put him in the 2 major market Cities SF and Dallas so they could have the post season with him because they had no intention of getting Atlanta deep into the playoffs often.

Remember what Strahan said at his hall of fame speech over and over again... he said " the improbable is not impossible"
its the NFL telling you to believe any outcome that they feed you !

the improbable is not impossible-parity- any team can win on any given sunday- they could call holding on every play-
these clich?s were invented to make you believe anything that happens without question.
sports clich? pseudo logic is what I call it. None of those things are actual truths but they want you to believe they are.

Man conspiracy theorist make me laugh. You put concise logic in their face and they tell you how dumb you are. It's why they tell you that athletes are also dumb but that they're intelligent enough to pull off the biggest hoax in the history of the world for 50 years. Because of all that sense. They spin around in circles so you can't even start on how silly they are before they point you in another senseless direction.

It does make sense though. When you think about it. Why WOULDN'T the NFL want their most popular team worldwide (the Dallas Cowboys) to be mediocre for 20 years in a row. Why wouldn't they prefer that teams like New England and Seattle and Pittsburgh and Baltimore have such success? I mean, it's not like having the Cowboys or the Giants or the Raiders be good every year would be better for them. Pssh. Nonsense. It's all a fix.

what hoax? employees are following orders. There is no conspiracy. An entertainment business is providing entertainment

you don't know what you are saying either. Ive already explained in detail how various things can play out. All you are doing is saying if you were dishonest you would be more obvious about it.

Dallas already had a 2 part dynasty so they have been told to lay low.. they have been bad and yet are still top 3 in jersey and product sales and got a new stadium so that owner is appeased. Baltimore is a major market, theres no surprise that they get to look good. I don't get your sarcasm ? the Giants are always good because they are of course the top 2 major market and and owned by the all mighty Mara's.

at its core you are just one of those people that cant tell when a referee is lying on the field. I don't make up excuses for it. When I see multiple bad calls I know its a premeditated structure for a reason. I can see when a player lets another player go by him without trying to do anything or fakes diving at him. I don't think something stupid like poor tackling. I know he did it on purpose.

THE PROOF: Five Facts - The Fix Is In (http://thefixisin.net/theproof.html)
actually try to read this link in detail and see what you think.
If this guy was wrong or lying wouldn't the NFL had sued him by now ?

why is it that as soon as a regular guy tried to patent words like Harbowl the NFL threatened to sue him and a year later the Brothers end up in a SB as pretty as you please ?

What's your endgame here? Is your goal to take down the NFL by showing that it is rigged? I can assure that won't happen here at a hockey forum. Or are you just trying to get people to not watch football anymore? Did the NFL touch you inappropriately? I don't watch football and you can take credit for that if it'll make you feel better.

there is no end game. Books have already been written. Its the same as knowing wrestling is fake. Some people like sports and some don't but now I know the truth and I'm not mentally 12 years old to not know when something is too good to be true.

LOL you think too hard. I'll watch football but now I know its about a story and appeasing owners. Fans of small market that think their team might win it one year based on actual talent are idiots and damn proud of it.

I researched and found out what is true but people are so childish and scared and cant put 2 and 2 together that the most obvious clues pass their clouded senses. half this country cant think for themselves and don't want to but the other 150 million actually know sports is manipulated.

but the fact is, if the NFL is fake then all sports are. the Lakers making it t 15 finals in 30 years make that not too hard to figure out.

my end game is to find out a majority of people are just plain dumb. I'm giving them every detail and every clue to process and they too stupid to do their own research and think like rational adults.

my end game is to find out a majority of people are just plain dumb. I'm giving them every detail and every clue to process and they too stupid to do their own research and think like rational adults.

what hoax? employees are following orders.

This is ridiculous. Everything you're saying is out to lunch and you have to be a troll. You have me laughing imagining the players who suffered gruesome career ending injuries. They couldn't have been happy when they see that come up in the script. I guess they just take it for the team. They are entertainers, right? You're ridiculous.

you have absolutely no critical thinking skills. Players get injured from contact. You cant avoid that even when you stage things. Wrestlers get injured too as you know.
the players are mad from the 60s/1970s because they did treat it more like wrestling and guys thought the pads protected them from hard hits.
what you fail to understand is that while the new rules are explained to better protect the players it also makes faking big plays a lot easier because the players are farther apart and faking whiffing on tackles.

What I've Learned In This Thread:

1. The NFL is fixed.

2. Other sports may also be fixed, including potentially a multi-million dollar force field that can keep the puck out of the net but is almost never used; most notably used in an arbitrary regular season game by Jonathan Quick. But we shouldn't worry about other sports being fixed for some reason.

3. I am not an adult, I am a child.

4. I lack critical thinking and deductive reasoning.

I don't make silly excuses for repeated bad calls and damn well know something is up when a defender makes a weak ass effort to make a tackle. Its very simple to find that out.

this does happen to be the football section of that forum and I am conducting my own social survey/experiment to see how sports fans and football fans think.
what I am finding out is people are so conditioned and indoctrinated that the simplest most obvious clues completely baffle people and pass them by due simply to a conditioned bias and clich?s that have no basis in fact.

I have shown a video of a receiver actually helping a DB to a ball and yet they make a million excuses that that isn't really happening.

Simple question that I'd love a serious answer to, because I'm really trying to enlighten myself.

Is EVERYONE in on it (every player, every ref, every coach), or are there just a handful of players/coaches/refs around the league that are in on it that can impact the games in big ways without risking the exposure of letting everyone else in on it?

What about when a kicker hits the upright on a field goal inside of the 20 yard line? I'm well aware that the ball is constantly being swapped out after every play, so that leads me to believe that there are magnets in the ball and goal posts.

of course everyone is in on it. Why do you think Peter Gent said after he made the team that all players were told if the public wants a winner or loser that is what they get.

OK. I think I get it.

Accodring to Sgt. Schultz here, "We know nothing!"

And, of course, since the same things are seen in college, high school and lower level games, this apparently means that the NFL taint must echo recursively all the way down to Pop Warner teams, right?

To my thinking, it's much more likely that a player, or team, will cheat on their own behalf than league puppetmasters controlling every play, of every game, of the season to fabricate a desired outcome (especially with the typically large number of unforseen happenings due to random chance during the course of said season).

People need to start actually thinking for themselves with critical thought and deductive reasoning but they shut it completely off when watching sports.

I would argue its next to impossible to stage an entire outcome of a game, perfectly executed with no screw ups between two entire teams of actors for an entire hour of play with the predetermined outcome of team B winning by _ points with flawless execution. Think of all the scoring deflections in hockey that would screw the end result up 99% of the time. However, I absolutely believe that if a league can extend a series via bad calls or refs looking the other way, that they wouldn't hesitate to do so. Wasn't it Tortorella that accused the NHL of intentionally sending a winter classic into OT based on a bad call? Obviously he struck a nerve in the league's office that threatened the validity of the game. Professional sports are a business at the end of the day(whether its legit, rigged, a bit of both) and the bottom line is they are out there to make as much money as possible while protecting their product.

My gut says no, they aren't 100% rigged. Compassion, tears, and emotion are very difficult to fake (look no further than Robbier Parker for example) - and you see nothing but that from a championship winning team in any sport.

"Johnny Football" is clearly the backup and will not be taking over any time soon with Hoyer playing well. The Browns sit in last place in the AFC North.

Of course, your response to this will be "wait and see" or "maybe it'll be next year or the year after, but it will come". You are my favorite type of person on the internet; any time a prediction is wrong, you can play the "it'll happen later/I'm not wrong" card, but when you one is right you can brag about it.

At least wait until you are actually right before bumping the thread, though.

The NFL loves storylines and drama so much that they've made every single prime time game this year a complete blowout by the second quarter. Nothing breeds drama like a team being shutout by 27 and being down 20-0 15 minutes in. Or being down 24-0 in the first quarter like Houston was on Thurs. The NFL loves games like that because then advertisers lose viewers and the NFL gets less money later. It's how they do it...

nope, you aren't paying attention to the whole picture,
they make you believe any outcome no matter how absurd. teams blow out teams and then the next week get blown out by teams that were blown out the week before...also so you are confused on who to bet on, because now the illogical anything can happen bull comes into play.

the Packers-Saints game was complete bull...Packers are the better team with a better record and the Saints suck but are 1.5 favorites. The Pack should have been favored and leading at half if things worked out logically but somehow its a slow ass close game and weak ass Saints blow the pack out. That game was complete and utter bull to get everyone to lose money on the Packers. But all the dumb ass fans chant the mantra 'anything can happen'

The Buffalo Bills... what exactly?

Two of your three "perfect occurrences" make no sense.

IND at NE = "Young up-and-comer Luck vs. seasoned old-timer Brady, new chapter in IND v NE rivalry..."
BAL at DEN = "Last time Baltimore went on road to beat NE and DEN, here they go again..."
BAL at IND = "Two teams of destiny, as if they would ever actually upset DEN and NE on their own..."
