When I saw John Landis at the HHN panel @ ScareLa he told a really funny story about how he met Rick(or Ricky as he kept calling him) Baker when he was young and trying to make his mark. Their history runs deep.

I remember reading the original issues of Fangoria and reading about Baker's work in the first Friday the 13th and The Howling. I have always liked his work. Not surprised he and Landis go so far back. I don't work in the industry but I am sure it is really a small world much like the rest of business and industry.

Adrian shows us around his On-U studio and talks us through his fabulous racks of gear – including his old favourites that may only make one sound – but a sound so good it’s worth trying to keep the machine alive.

Using the song “Soon Come” by Denise Sherwood, Adrian goes through the channels on the desk and explains his work flow – combining Protools and live analogue dubs – and demonstrates comprehensively how he uses live dubs and effects to get the sound he wants. Adrian shares his thoughts on automation – that whilst it has its uses, the final mix is really something that he does live.

Unlike most people, Adrian doesn’t mark up the desk, as he feels strongly that he should learn the tune and how it is distributed across the desk in order to interact instinctively and play it like an instrument.

Adrian also discusses how his career developed and the philosophy behind how he works – how he creates his own sound by sticking to the gear he loves, then twisting and mangling it to keep it fresh.

Nice shot of Cash. Can you imagine how many Benzos he's on in that picture? Enough to see god i'm assuming. Don’t listen to country music but I do own “Folsom Prison”, because, duh it transcends the genre. Just “added to my list” on Netflix a documentary (Tricky Dick and The Man In Black) about Nixon trying to use Cash’s “redneck” songs to push his own political agenda by having them preformed at the White House; and how conflicted Cash was because he was super patriotic but did not want to be used in that way. It may be worth your time, dolphin. *Shrugs*

My mother-in-law gifted me my father-in-law's LP of "At Folsom Prison" last Christmas. There is nothing like listening to that via an old needle. The LP is ancient but is in pristine condition.
