Good idea. It should be interesting.
Honestly, I think they need to set up a WWE Network kind of thing as soon as possible. Granted, they'll have no library to work with but as for PPV pricing, I don't think it's reasonable at all in this day and age to charge like $50-60 for a show when WWE does it for 10 bucks. I'm sure their argument will be that they'll only have like 4 PPVs a year so they can charge that much. But we'll see.

So AEW is promoting a 6 man tag match for their first TNT show: Young Bucks/Omega vs. Jericho/2 mystery partners. Thoughts on partners? I was trying to figure out when Revival's contracts would be up but I think they go at least until next Wrestlemania.
Also supposedly crowning the first women's champ on that show. Side note: I had no idea Britt Baker was in a relationship with Adam Cole.

Sucks that Moxley is out of the PPV with elbow issues. (Is it the same one he had in WWE with the infection??)
Either way, at least they can revisit that feud once AEW is established on TV. Might be better to be honest. PAC (Neville) as the replacement is great though.

I wacthed a highlight segment of All Out on youtube this morning. This is probably how I'm going to have to follow their ppv's as I have no desire to pay $49.99 for individual shows. I also realize there's a lot of talent I just don't know a lot about. The weekly show will have to do a lot to build up why I should care, which I have confidence they will do.
Totally agree on Luchasaurus. He is the perfect "hot tag" and is quite the agile guy for his size. Between his "soft" chops on Dreamer at the last battle royal and last night, I'm also pretty sure Orange Cassidy might be one of my favorite new guys too. Pac/Omega, damn. Both guys sell moves where it appears pretty much every move they do could cause serious damage. Surprised Omega lost after Pac was a replacement, but could set Pac up to be a top heel. Young Bucks and Pentagon/Fenix had all the high spots, and there were many. But the fans seemed to completely eat it up.
Oh and I am definitely not down with paper cuts.

I don't think it was groundbreaking but did have quite the good wrestling. And good matches at that (that Riho/Rose match, Rhodes/Guevara with insanely hot crowd, pac/page, and final 6 man tag, damn).
Between that and NXT there was some solid, solid wrestling on last night. I do however not like the split screen with commercials during matches.

Good first show. MFJ was hilarious on the mic as he walked to the ring. The ending was meh. Jack Swagger is not a guy I get all psyched to see. A b level talent. Jericho is doing a great job as a heel. Cannot wait til next week.

I thought it was a pretty good show. Great pacing overall. I especially liked the overhead camera angle that panned through the crowd during the ring entrances. I also liked how they gave the wrestlers their full entrances and then went to commercial break.
- First match was pretty decent between Cody and Sammy Guevara. I thought maybe the pacing felt a little slow to boot as they were going for those near-fall facial reactions way too early. I know nothing of Sammy so it was good to showcase him like that.
- MJF vs Brandon Cutler. I have no idea who Cutler is but he looks like a very generic dude with no future. (Maybe too harsh? lol) Either way, an expected win for MJF and that's fine by me.
- Then I think the next segment was a bunch of Tag Teams getting some mic time. That's alright. I don't know anything about any of them. I just know Jack Evans and Angelico from Lucha Underground and they're freaking great. Private Party feels like a Street Profits clone to me though to be fair I don't know who came up with the gimmick first.
- PAC vs "Hangman" Adam Page - I enjoyed this match. This is the kind of wrestling I'm fully expecting from most of the AEW staff. I'm not sold on Adam Page yet so hopefully he'll grow on me.
- AEW Women's Championship Match: Riho vs Nyla Rose - What the hell was up with Britt Baker on commentary? She felt so disengaged and couldn't answer many questions from JR and Tony. Very bizarre. The match itself was okay but it told the story just fine. People bagged on Nyla Rose mostly being sloppy during that Battle Royale but I think she was okay here. Putting the title on Riho is a good start.
- Kenny Omega & Young Bucks vs Chirs Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz - I really love Jericho's music and The Elite's music was super catchy. Loved Jon Moxley's appearance here and I don't know why but I liked how he took out Omega early. You don't want to give too much of Kenny Omega away on TV yet and it builds their feud at the same time. The Young Bucks sure have a lot of flashy moves so that's fun. Jericho's wrestling was also very limited in this 1st episode and that's okay with me.
- I loved Jake Hager making an appearance. I'll have to disagree with Mitchrock here as I was a huge fan of him in WWE. I just think he was very poorly booked during his WWE run (no surprise there). Now he looks more buff and fit from MMA so there's that.
Overall, very decent first episode and they didn't even use Luchasaurus and Shawn Spears. I'm sure they will have a lot more surprises in store and that's all we can ask for.
I do however not like the split screen with commercials during matches.
Oh man, speaking of which I did think having Jericho attack Cody throughout that commercial break while on split screen was a mistake. I know most of it was just to kill time as Jericho was mainly prancing around the ring and whatnot, but what a terrible idea to use that as a split screen commercial segment.

Swagger's heyday was probably back when I was hardly watching any wrestling. Still, I'm with TooCool on this one, which is to say, I'm a fan of his. I couldn't/can't understand why this guy wasn't a bigger star than he was/is. He's got the size, amateur wrestling background, and now MMA cred as well, which puts him way ahead of the curve. Bottom line, I guess, is it's entertainment, so if you're not filling houses or getting viewers to tune in, even great credentials will eventually determine your limits.

Man that was a great match. A Tag Team heavy show but once in awhile I think it's okay.
For the main event, Jericho did a hell of a job putting Darby over. Enough believable nearfalls and also allowed Darby to showcase his stuff, especially while handcuffed. He even needed Hager's "help" to retain so that's cool.
Honestly, the only weak part about AEW by a mile is the Women's Division. Everyone just feels really green when they're in the ring.

Agreed, although I thought the Riho/Baker match was pretty good. Maybe a bit sloppy in parts but for the most part both came off well. I was reading earlier Baker is still working as a dentist 4 days a week, and AEW is letting her fly to the weekly shows either tuesday night or wednesday morning then fly back after. Insane.

I caught some of the Full Gear PPV. Couldn't justify shelling out $50 for these PPVs though.. they really need to come up with a price similar to the WWE Network if they want my $$$. But I did find a really good stream of it... ;)
Adam Page vs PAC was fun. They really put over PAC's record well but I think too many stars are starting off around .500 which doesn't seem too impressive. They still haven't exactly explained what the standings mean in the long run or why we should care though.
Which leads me to my next point which happened to be the next match with Shawn Spears vs Joey Janela. Shawn Spears was previously 0-2. Right before the PPV, they quickly had him win 2 matches on AEW dark to make him 2-2 so he doesn't go into the PPV still winless. And I guess on AEW Dark he had a mini feud with Janela? Either way, they didn't really bring it up during the PPV or why they were even having the match. AEW needs to do better there.
- AEW Triple Threat Tag Title match - Great match. I fully expected SCU to retain since they recently won. I really love the Lucha Bros since I know them from Lucha Underground. The tag division is one of their bright spots as long as AEW continue to let them work longer matches.
- AEW Women's Title match - Riho is a good wrestler but overall their women's division is extremely weak. It was not good that they had her defend it against Emi Sakura with zero buildup. Then they tried to hype the match up via Twitter. Kenny Omega even posted a bunch of history between Riho and Sakura and fans were replying with "Why did you mention ANY of this on TV?" So far AEW has been extremely good with feedback so I would expect that they would listen and improve.
- Jericho vs Cody - Holy pyro fest for both dudes. I also really love Cody and Jericho's theme music. Another really good one is Darby Allin's and Jon Moxley's entrance music. They supposedly had 3 judges that will decide the result should the match go 60 minutes. So I immediately assumed they were going 60. But thankfully it only went 29 minutes. Cody did himself no favors by hurting himself with that dive onto the ramp. (I remember WCW did that ramp that went all the way to the ring in previous PPVs and I was never a fan of that.) All I can say is that is was a damn good match with great buildup. Now Cody will have his loophole of never challenging for the AEW title if he lost. He can have a huge feud with MJF in the meantime. The only problem is that there aren't many babyfaces to go up against Jericho. I'm thinking maybe AEW isn't going to care about a heel vs heel match. If Moxley or PAC or whoever has a good record, they can face Jericho regardless.
- Moxley vs Omega - This unsanctioned match was insane. I've had time to process it but I still don't know what to think. I liked it and didn't hate it. That's the best response I can give. I liked the big spots and how brutal it was. What I didn't like was that everything was too planned out. Here's all the things I can remember them using.
Barbed wired Bat
Barbed wired Broom
Table
Trash can
Mouse trapped table
Screwdriver
Broken Glass
Barbed ware fence thing they had a double suplex on
Stage
Hardwood floor after ring is torn apart
So while it was great that it was disgusting, all the near falls was a bit much. However, I was insanely entertained through all of it so that's a win. I can't imagine that Renee Young liked it though. She was probably thinking "Yeah, this isn't what I want my husband to do at all."

AEW "Bash at the Beach" thoughts -
1. Cody is so good on the mic. He can strike an emotional chord with anyone.
2. My favorite signs of the night: (a) "I was at MJF's Bar Mitzvah" (b) "Cassidy for Pres 2020"
3. Holy heck there were some good matches. That 4 way tag match was spot after spot after spot. They are brilliantly setting up Page turning on Omega. Not sure if it'll happen in the tag title match or after they potentially win the titles, but it's going down. And fan support for Page is there, there are Hangman drink my beer" signs everywhere. Guevara once again puts on a great match, but loses. And he tapped out quickly. If the inner circle was going to brutally attack Moxley, why not do it before the match ends and save Guevara from a clean loss? Allin can pretty much have a good match with anyone, just wish he'd also win a few more. It was pretty obvious Pac was going to win. He may beat Moxley next week either from inner circle interference or just preying on Moxley's injured face. It would of course make a heel vs. heel match for the title, but that leaves it wide open to Moxley then interfering. That or Moxley wins and we get the match with Jericho for it all. (Win or lose Moxley, you either win...or lose....those are your two options, top quote randy marsh)
4. Next week's episode will be on Jericho's cruise....should make for a fun background, unless the ocean acts up.
5. Taz just signed a multiyear deal with AEW. I happened to be wearing my old FTW 13 beanie from back in the day when I read it. Coincidence?

Really bizarre show from the Jericho cruise last night. How can you have a cruise and not Orange Cassidy?
Good for Page/Omega. Interesting as they've been hinting Page turning on him for awhile, that it wouldn't occur after they lost the titles. Does it happen now while they're tag champs, or after they lose? Page crowd surfing while pounding beers was nice.
That was a pretty quick heel turn for Britt Baker. Poor Schiavone, did he really work at Starbucks as a s****y barista? :)

I loved the fans singing Jericho's song. It reminded me of the crowding doing the same for Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn. Those never get old. You could see Jericho crack some smiles too even though he's a heel.
So Britt Baker is officially a heel now with that promo. After all, she's pissed at Riho for swooping in to win almost every single time right?
Adam Page being a heel like you said should be fun. Especially since it's been hinted at for weeks now. Young Bucks vs Omega/Page moving forward? Unless SCU wins it back.
The whole show there on the boat was really cool. I'd imagine it was cold with how windy it looked.

I'm really loving this side of Adam Page. I'll admit, other than his catchy tune when AEW was brand new, I didn't know much about him. But now as weeks and weeks have gone by, his character development has been great.
Agree with you on the Darby Allin part. I even loved how JR said something along the lines about fans being attached to him while they showed another kid with face paint in the crowd. It helps when JR speaks the truth and it also helps when there is proof of that on a weekly basis.
Overall, I think AEW is fun. It still feels fresh to me. My only complaint is that they'll have matches where you know who will lose no matter what... kind of like what WWE does. Maybe that's wrestling? I don't know... I just feel like it could be booked better so everyone can win on any given night. But I understand you can't have that without that 50/50 **** either.

Britt Baker did not agree: "You sit there each week and collect a very large paycheck while we all do the work. Be the legend I grew up on, Jim, not a sloppy BBQ sauce sales rep who can't even get the names on our roster straight." :)
I agree on AEW, although I find that even when it's obvious who will lose they find ways to make the matches entertaining. And the crowds are a huge factory of the show in my opinion. If they're animated, it can add to any match.

Wow man new women's champ. That was a brutal match. I'm really surprised they had the title switch on a Wednesday night show when this easily could've happened at the ppv. I imagine Rose will have many face to challengers but will prove to be an unstoppable force.
The crowd was super hot last night and that really adds to broadcasts. Page/Omega vs. SCU was awesome. It's funny they've been setting up Page turning on Omega for awhile now, but every week he is getting more and more popular with fans. That's going to inevitably disrupt a "heel" turn.

It's really too bad they couldn't have done the Brodie Lee and Matt Hardy reveal's in front of a live audience. I almost wish they would've waited till this blows over to do so. Apparently they put a Hardy shirt out and it "deleted" the internet for awhile.

Yesterday's Dynamite wasn't too interesting and I don't blame them. Because of the 10 person in one area rule, they had to do the gambling stuff in a trailer which felt.... disjointed.
I want to talk about Brodie Lee. So is he suppose to spoof Vince McMahon as the Exalted One or is he just so bitter about being misused he feels like he needs to take some more shots first? The bit last week with the "out of touch old man" and last night, two members of the Dark Order had to wait until he finished eating first before they can eat. But then one guy sneezed and Brodie yelled at him for doing so. Then let's talk about his finishing move. It's quite clunky in my opinion. He set up QT Marshall like he was going to use Sister Abigail only to spin and use the discus lariat.
Then that final segment with Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy. It's uhh... stupid yet interesting? If you know me, you know how I feel about the Broken Hardy gimmick. I think it was dumb in TNA and it was dumb in WWE. Granted, WWE kind of did away with that gimmick so Matt wasn't happy about that. I mean I'm willing to give it a shot in AEW to see what ideas Matt really has up his sleeve... but it's hard to be a fan of it when it's just over the top ridiculous. So yeah, that's my take on it.
I do like how Jericho is sticking with his "I banned the fans until I say so" speech. When things go back to normal, I expect him to demand that the fans thank him for being allowed to come back.

I'll admit, I wasn't too invested in that match. I figured there's no way the title would change hands especially since there was no crowd. I think if I had to nitpick, the match kinda dragged on 5 minutes too long even. Sammy Guevara making out with the Brandi cutout though was funny. =P That's all I got on that match! Come on dude, Jericho ran a promo on Matt Hardy’s drone! “Vanguard I think you’re a piece of s***. Want to join the inner circle?”
I laughed a lot between “are you inner circle or elite?” “DELETE” “Elite” “DELETE”. Plus there was the whole Matt hardy bringing up that the souls of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther king (“he still has a dream”) were in the crowd.
Lol
Jericho/Guevara - I mean sheesh they both can put on a hell of a match. It’s just such a shame to not have fans in these matches as they have become such a big part of the show. And will anyone ever get tired of Guevara singing Judas? :)
We’ve spent a lot of time during safer at home rewatching and I’m proud to say my 5 year old has become a huge Darby Allin and Luchasaurus fan right behind Cassidy (and when he’s not asking me when the next Sasha banks match is). Parenting goals?

Brodie Lee to me is a disappointment as The Exalted one. Not a strong persona. Bray elevated him and Rowan in WWE. Would much rather have had Hardy be the exalted one. Although, I love MAtt's promos with Jericho.

Well that's just the thing Mitchy. Vince held back Harper and Rowan for so long and never allowed them to have anything of a persona. There's a lot of unknown with Brodie Lee. Only time will tell for us all to see what he's truly got.
ucsd, one really good thing I love about AEW is the same reason why your son loves those wrestlers. Darby Allin, Luchasaurus, and Orange Cassidy are great stars in the making. They're unique and fun to watch. I wish they would do more with The Hybrid 2 (Angelico and Jack Evans). They were so good in Lucha Underground but unfortunately right now they're struggling to find their footing in AEW. I think a lot more characters need mic time and storylines still, rather than just go out and wrestle and lose. Obviously right now the timing is all bad.. but just thinking of the future. :)

Agreed. I fully thought he might steamroll (or at least win convincingly).
Kind of similar with Brian Cage. He just showed up and now is getting a title shot against Moxley. Do you really want Cage losing this quickly if you're building him up? By the way, I'd pay to watch him wrestling Darby Allin twice!

I'm happy that Zack Ryder AKA Matt Cardona is in AEW officially now. Wanted Heath Slater to go there too but if he's successful with Impact, good for him. I just don't care for Impact wrestling. =\ But for Matt, I thought his debut was great. They didn't hype up his appearance or anything. He just showed up, helped out his friend and that was it. His death hit me as hard as when Eddie passed. He was so loved by everyone behind the scenes. I always had high hopes for him but sadly they never used him right in WWE.
It's such a shame to see that his big debut with AEW was going to be in his hometown of Rochester as well. I believe on tonight's broadcast Jericho mentioned it was on March 18th, pretty much when everything had to shut down. He got robbed of a huge pop and a huge "start" to his career in AEW.
When he dropped the TNT Title to Cody and people said he was "injured", I just assumed it was something minor and that he wasn't going to reappear until he got better. Then he can come back as a surprise again. But damn, we all had no idea he was fighting this lung issue since October.
Tonight's episode was fantastic from top to bottom. Great wrestling. No nonsense booking with random swerves. They had Dark Order win everything and that's just fine with me. RIP Brodie. You'll be missed.

Oh jeez. I totally forgot to reply to you. -_- My apologies.
I liked the PPV. It wasn't worth $50 good but it was decent enough. Maybe I can't get it out of my head that the Network only cost 10 bucks and here Tony Khan is asking for $50.
But besides the price, I thoroughly enjoyed almost everything on the PPV. I didn't like that they kept hyping the exploding ring. And when that turned out to be a dud, it looked so bad. They could have said the ring would explode if they didn't finish the match in time. But then you could quickly end the match and then be done with it.
All in all, I'm enjoying Dynamite weekly a lot. I won't be ordering their next PPV though, that's for sure.
Speaking of PPVs, I did sub to Peacock because they had a deal for Mania where you paid $10 and it's good for 4 months. But wow, not being able to pause, rewind/fast forward is stupid as hell! No worries! I had the same issue with Peacock. Funny enough for Wrestlemania, if I used the app on my phone I could rewind but not on my TV app. The kids watched the replay a few days later which has the functionality I believe.
We've been watching NXT and Dynamite weekly more often than Raw/Smackdown. (My 6 year old loves Dexter Lumis, I'm not sure if good or bad). But just find that the matches on Dynamite are so much better on a weekly basis.

 Awesome. Well if Indi Hartwell likes Dexter Lumis then its ok if your kid does too. =P
I agree with you on the Dynamite matches. Both Dynamite and NXT just produce top notch matches on a weekly basis. While I lost interest in NXT myself (for some reason the pandemic part still killed my interest as it's not the same when they're not at full sail). Dynamite feels like it's a must watch for me. It's a feeling I used to have as a teenager growing up watching RAW where I always feel like I need to tune in or else I'll miss something. Granted in this day and age, if you miss something, you can just catch it on Youtube... haha
But either way, my point is that RAW/Smackdown, they've gotten so ridiculously complacent. The horrible camera cuts WWE insists on doing has gotten worse and worse too.
I know one big complaint with AEW is that there are waaaaaaaaaay too many factions. I'm personally okay with that. I do agree it's too much but it's how you book all of them that matters.

I'm fully on the AEW train now. This is the kind of wrestling I want. This is what I loved about NXT to be quite honest and now even NXT bores me. =\ That Capitol Wrestling Center thing they're at doesn't do it for me at all. I am 100% with this. NXT just doesn't do it for me much anymore. I can't decide if it is a lack of likeable talent, a lack of engaging matches or a combination of both. And with all the sheets saying Vince is revamping it altogether, see ya. They've ruined Karrion Kross already.
So apparently we have Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan, and potentially Adam Cole coming to AEW. With Miro, Cage, et al, my only concern with so many signings is a lack of space. I love AEW because it gives talent so many may not have otherwise heard of time to shine. The matches are incredible even without huge names, and stylistically totally the opposite of weekly wwe matches. I hope they can sustain the pace, and don't want to see a bunch of those guys/girls getting pushed out that otherwise would be making waves. (We need more orange cassidy!) Also I'd be lying if a small ecw part of my soul loves the fanaticism of AEW crowds and fears that may die down as it gets more and more notoriety. That's just the cynic in me.
But CM Punk's entrance, I mean yeah. Doing it to start off the show was perfect so as not to have the chants going through all the other matches. He legit looked taken aback (watch the video they put out of him backstage when the crowd reacted and as he walked to the ramp).
For the first time in a long time I think I may buy a pay per view. I mean I just have to see Punk/Allin, not to mention some of the other insanely tempting matches to take place.
Also, is there anything more organic than Britt Baker being a total heel and morphing into a crowd favorite anyway? Those "D-M-D" chants are quite vociferous.
Oh and it's time to get the tag belts on Jurassic Express.

Agree with everything you said.
CM Punk more or less confirmed Bryan Danielson tonight as well when the crowd started the "YES" chants and he said we need to be a little more patient.. haha :)
The only complaints I have about AEW is that they definitely have too many people on the roster. It's weird to say but I love that they're not on EVERY episode week after week. But at the same time, having them appear in large gaps kind of makes it hard to care about them if that makes sense? Take Miro for example. He's booked properly by being a dominant monster and he picks his opponents. But having him show up for a match once every 2-3 weeks does nothing for me. Then you got guys like Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. I want to know more about them, but they don't show up enough for me to care. Then you got guys like Jon Moxley and Lancer Archer who seem to be in a very random spot. Hell, what the **** happened to Inner Circle and The Pinnacle? You see what I mean?
And then we talked about this before. The Standings/Records that are still meaningless IMO. I get that they try to use that to determine who are the next #1 (https://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contenders. Like how Christian Cage is 7-0 and Kris Statlander is 14-0. But when you think about how all their wins have been padded on Dark and Elevation, it's dumb. Now don't get me wrong, it's a great way to get the Tag Team like Varsity Blonds on TV tonight because they're 18-4. But again, you see the record and you're thinking, "So what?" Hell, I'm looking at the roster page and Austin Gunn is 26-2! Why isn't he anywhere near the Top 5 in the rankings? You know what I mean? The records may look "impressive" to the casual fans I guess... but it's meaningless when you don't explain the logic behind it.
However, with those complaints out of the way... I love AEW. Wrestling is fun again, just like when NXT was great. And that's all that matters to me at the end of the day. I just can't watch RAW/Smackdown anymore and their countless camera cuts (Did you see the highlight of Miz turning on Morrison? How are those camera cuts acceptable?), rematches, rollup finishes, etc. Everything about the WWE is just so formulaic and stale. WWE has gotten to the point where they make so much money now with all these sponsorship, network deals, etc that they will never ever fail again, even if the product is absolutely unwatchable. They have truly reached a place where they can do no wrong.

I ordered it too. So many thoughts, I don't even know where to begin.
I at first thought they messed up Adam Cole's debut, by having it completely overshadowed by Daniel Bryan. Have Cole come in with the swerve, and have the bad guys standing tall to end the show, whereas Bryan can come in later. But, they did an awesome job throwing pretty much everyone off. When the lights went out didn't we all think it was Bryan? And even if Cole, did we think he'd just join the elite? The star power is off the charts.
I don't even think Ruby did a whole lot. She was good, a bit sloppy with Rosa. But you can't deny the emotion and she's got plenty to give. I loved that active wwe wrestlers were tweeting their support directly or indirectly.
I still maintain they've got a problem with an overabundance of talent and how to fit everyone in. And I hope they keep it to wrestling. But man who in their right mind is going to watch wwe over aew this week? I mean this was a long pay per view that still didn't have Aleister Black, Sammy Guevara, Santana/Ortiz, Brian Cage, Lance Archer, and others involved. Do they really need bray wyatt?
As to the matches...
Lucha Bros/Bucks - match of the year candidate if not winner already. I was a little grossed out by Penta kissing his family and getting his blood all over them. But lord those guys deserve it and that was one hell of a crazy match. No more rematches for awhile, let the tag division shine with fresh challengers. (I still maintain Varsity Blondes should be bigger than they are, ha!)
Punk/Allin - I totally thought Sting was going to turn on Allin when he lost. Punk looked a bit rusty at first but it picked up as the match went on. Think Allin carried it with some of his sells. But good to have Punk back. He sure did look winded, and sure did let the F bombs fly.
Omega/Cage - Christian put on a show. They both did. Funniest moment might be Omega when he slipped jumping onto the railing then gave the "shhh" to everyone. This match was all about the surprises after, but it was a hell of a lot of fun with two guys who are just great.
Baker/Statlander - I geeked out like everyone else in the crowd when she did the panama sunrise. Statlander looked great and deserves air time. Baker is so over whether she's a heel or not. Nice to see her win a match clean too.
Moxley - just seems fitting for him to strong style it out with new japan guys. Minoru and Mox should be another fun, hard hitting match. Minoru's facial expressions (and lack thereof) just make me smile.
Wight/Marshall - while big show looked like he was having fun, we don't need to see this again.
Rusev/Kingston - much more fun than it needed to be if you love two hard a**es just smashing each other.
Casino battle royal - all about Ruby, but I still maintain Thunder Rosa is awesome and a huge add to that division. Could AEW not license out Ruby Soho from Rancid for her theme?
That was a LONG pay per view, but oh so much fun.

Thanks for your thoughts! I enjoyed reading them. I'll quote you in response to my feelings about it.
I know they had that Youtube show they've been doing for a really long time called "Being the Elite". I'll post a Youtube video if you want to watch the "important" parts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvsXzPEu42k
Start at 3:40 and ends at 5:50. Then pick it back up again at 10:20 - 16:24.
Basically, to sum it up really quick... they "killed off Adam Cole" when he was going to WWE 4 years ago. So in Omega's promo at the end of the PPV, he said something along the lines of "The only one that can beat me are either not here (referring to Hangman I'm sure), retired, or dead (which would have been Adam Cole).
If I had to nitpick about his debut is that Adam Cole came out of the heel tunnel from the beginning. The bigger swerve would be if he came out from the face tunnel first. But yeah, his debut wasn't overshadowed at all since he was a heel. Then you have Bryan Danielson come out as a face. His new theme is a banger too now that I got to sleep on it. I absolutely wanted The Final Countdown but I guess trying to get permission to use certain songs can be a *****.
I don't even think Ruby did a whole lot. She was good, a bit sloppy with Rosa. But you can't deny the emotion and she's got plenty to give. I loved that active wwe wrestlers were tweeting their support directly or indirectly.
I agree. I think most of it was a chemistry issue as well. Ruby (and the other girls) felt very hesitant in performing certain moves because they're not sure what they wanted to do. I still think overall the Casino Battle Royal is a cluster**** and wish they would improve upon it. Having 5 people run out and trying to show the ring work + entrances is an absolute mess. And the eliminations were too quick after they entered.
This is the toughest part IMO. It is 100% nice to not see rematches over and over on Dynamite and Rampage. But it does leave people out. Take Miro for example. I love the way he's been booked. But he only had like 1-2 matches in like a month? The rest were like 30 second promos talking about who he wants to destroy. So it's nice to not see him every single week, it can also be bad because when they do show up, it could feel like a throwaway match. The 4 PPVs a year thing is really smart as it makes the PPV feel important. But when you have a feud going, and you only continue it every other week it can be strange.
I always preferred Tornado Tag matches over standard Tag matches. So to put them all in a Steel Cage was amazing. The storytelling was beautiful. Sure, there were lots of planned spots but it was fun to watch. This was definitely match of the year material. Well deserved win for the Lucha Bros. They are insanely over with the crowd. I love it.
Punk/Allin - I totally thought Sting was going to turn on Allin when he lost. Punk looked a bit rusty at first but it picked up as the match went on. Think Allin carried it with some of his sells. But good to have Punk back. He sure did look winded, and sure did let the F bombs fly.
I agree about the rusty part in Punk. You could tell that they worked in so many rest holds for him. But as the match progressed, you could see that Punk started to look like his old self. Sting treating Darby Allin like a son is funny to me. It felt like Darby was saying "I'm sorry I disappointed you dad." when Sting helped him out of the ring. lol
Omega/Cage - Christian put on a show. They both did. Funniest moment might be Omega when he slipped jumping onto the railing then gave the "shhh" to everyone. This match was all about the surprises after, but it was a hell of a lot of fun with two guys who are just great.
Christian put on a damn good performance. I think the crowd was so burnt out by the time this match happened that they didn't feel as if they were into it as much as they should have. Like you said, it was all about the surprises after, and everyone knew that too. It can be tough to book a match if everyone knows the title wasn't changing hands.
Baker/Statlander - I geeked out like everyone else in the crowd when she did the panama sunrise. Statlander looked great and deserves air time. Baker is so over whether she's a heel or not. Nice to see her win a match clean too.
What I loved best about this match was the finish of it. I think we all got too used to wrestlers doing a big move and then they're like "OMG!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!" with surprise looked on their face as the camera zooms in on them for a good 10-20 seconds. For this match, Britt Baker used that Panama Sunrise, Kris Statlander kicked out. Britt immediately went for a curb stomp. She kicked out. So immediately, you apply the lockjaw to get her to submit. That's called taking care of business and it makes Statlander look strong in the loss because she did all she could... until she couldn't.
My only complaint with how AEW books things is that Kris Statlander was like what? 16-0? All 16 of those wins were from jobber matches on Dark and Elevation. They still haven't really explained why W/L record matters. Too many people have inflated records. I think if you look at the Gunn club. I think Billy's kids are like freaking 30-0. So why aren't they #1 (https://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) contenders? You know what I mean? lol
Moxley - just seems fitting for him to strong style it out with new japan guys. Minoru and Mox should be another fun, hard hitting match. Minoru's facial expressions (and lack thereof) just make me smile.
Moxley has gained so much weight since he had a kid which is strange. I wonder if it's intentional. But this guy can still put on a damn good match. I feel like he has taken a back seat as of late but as long as he's having fun wrestling the New Japan guys, I'm fine with that. I'm also happy to be learning/hearing about these NJPW wrestlers too. It's a win win! It's also a huge part of why Bryan Danielson is in AEW because he wants to be able to work against them too.
Wight/Marshall - while big show looked like he was having fun, we don't need to see this again.
Rusev/Kingston - much more fun than it needed to be if you love two hard a**es just smashing each other.
Miro/Kingston was a good opener. That ref was such a heel though at the end of the match
Wight/Marshall was dumb. But I'm also okay with that because everyone needs a well deserved bathroom break during a long PPV.
Excited for Dynamite! :)

I've only watched the Danielson/Omega match from Grand Slam so far. I got a text from a friend before watching "Omega/Bryan - 5 star match, A+ and can only go to A++ from here". Not sure I disagree too much :)
1. That crowd. holy #$&*(^. Listen to the reaction when the bell rings, and the first time they locked up. Bryan couldn't hide his emotions again and I f'n loved it. And they pretty much kept that feel the entire match.
2. Was the ending perfect? No. But it actually worked fine to set up a no time limit bout for the title at a future ppv. Sign me up for a ppv of just these two wrestling!

I absolutely loved that match. The way Bryan was selling his "seizure" when he got suplexed on the ramp or when he ate those brutal V-Triggers. Holy moly. I honestly don't mind the draw finish. It's better than the blatant DQ and Countout finishes that WWE won't stop doing. One great thing about AEW is the lack of interference and there is almost always a winner and a loser.
The time limit is interesting too because I could have sworn all non-title matches were 20 minutes? This one went 30. I also feel like they need a better way to announce the time, or at least show us a clock (kind of like in the beat the clock challenge in WWE, but without the wrestlers constantly stare at the jumbotron and stall lol)
The rest of the show was insanely good. So far all the AEW crowds are killing it. They're all there to have so much fun and thankfully not one idiot have tried to do a "What" chant.

Tonight's Dynamite is in Rochester, NY. Hard to believe that Brodie Lee was suppose to make his debut in his home city back in March and then the pandemic happened.
Seems like Tony Khan and AEW are going to dedicate the show in memory of him. I have a feeling this is the perfect night for Bray Wyatt's debut.
Edit: Or maybe not. Just saw on Reddit that someone mentioned Bray still has like a month left in his no compete clause. Bring back Adam Page to reunite the Dark Order.

I don't know I'm just not feeling the Bray Wyatt to AEW signing. I just don't think they need him. I suppose it would be to reunite dark order, but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather see someone like Brian Cage or other who excite me but are kind of getting lost in the shuffle get more air time. We're also suffering from a severe lack of orange cassidy air time lately.
Um that Lance Archer/Suzuki vs. Moxley/Kingston match? daayum
I am however quite excited for two matches tonight: Miro/Guevara (probably a no contest to set up a ppv match) and Cole/Jungle Boy (showtime boys)

We ordered Full Gear saturday night and once again it was an awesome ppv. My only complaint was how long it went - at almost 4 hours we were nearly drained by the time the Omega/Page match started.
But I can't think of any match I was disappointed in (maybe the black/rhodes tag match wasn't fully necessary but was still fun). Hell even Tay Conti impressed me. I could do in depth on each one that would be 8 paragraphs or so. Just that it was so so solid, and everyone needs a little more cowboy ****.
Punk with the Cena salute was hilarious.

Thanks for the recap! I actually didn't order it. I know I was going to miss out on great wrestling but that $50 price tag is going make my selection very limited, even if there's only 4 PPVs a year. I think Tony Khan did say that he wanted PPVs to be 4 hours now. So that might be the "norm" moving forward.
Very happy for Hangman Adam Page. This is how you tell a story and have a good payoff. I've heard many complaints about how they should have had Bryan Danielson beat Kenny Omega for the AEW Title instead. Or even have CM Punk win the title. But that's just them being conditioned to think WWE style, where you only want the bigger "stars" to hold the title. I think AEW has done it right. This is how you build a character. Had Adam Page lost that would totally derail any momentum he had built.
So reports are that Kenny Omega has been battling injuries for months now. So do we have Adam Cole lead the Elite?
I'm also really digging Dante Martin as of late. Dude has a really bright future.

Yeah the price was steep, but when my kids give those bubbly eyes I can't resist...
So at first, I actually thought they were going to have Page lose, maybe by interference or whatever. Then have him continue to chase and prolong the feud. Payoff would've been big, but the they way they did it was fine. The match was such good storytelling with the back and forth and page taking everything Kenny could give (even shouting "is that all you got mother ****" in the middle). Also, I'm glad it was Page and not Bryan or Punk. Let a pure "AEW" guy take the title from Kenny.
Strange now that Bryan beat Miro that Page will defend against him. I hope they don't take the title off Page that quickly, which I doubt they will. How about during their match Kazuchika Okada shows up and distracts or interferes with Bryan? That would be awesome.
I didn't know about Omega's injuries, but you wouldn't have really guessed it from the match. Cole silently is starting to lead the elite. I did find it curious last week that he brought Bobby Fish in to do some dirty work while the Bucks just kind of told him "there's no dispute here". Not sure it means anything. Cole could always just say Omega failed the elite and take him out. Heal the injuries and let him come back later for revenge.
Dante Martin is a stud. His matches are always fun. And therein is the difference in booking between WWE and AEW. In WWE he would be a jobber if that, and would probably lose almost every match or just be fodder for someone bigger to beat up on. In AEW lets him actually perform and is slowly building him into a star.
And where the heck is Kip Sabian?

I kind of feared this when they did the stipulation so early with Cody not being allowed to fight for the AEW World Title. This might be one of those things where Cody will be a 10 time TNT Champion in a few years right? lol
As for Sammy, his title reign was really poor. Miro was the better TNT Champion. He picked his opponents and just brought the fight to them. I have no idea why he isn't on TV since he lost the title either... But it wouldn't surprise me when he re-debuts with Lana (or whatever her name is going to be).
One side thing that is stupid about the AEW Standings and Rankings is that Scorpio Sky is 12-1 and someone said he hasn't had a Dynamite or Rampage match in over 6 months. Makes no sense. lol
Also, give us the Trios Titles already. We have so many 6 man matches already, might as well let them fight for those belts.

Haha.. no chance in hell that happens. He's a McMahon. Pretty sure he owns part of the company as well. He's just "let go" as an on air talent.
Unless there is bad blood between him and Vince where he's literally disowned, it'll never happen. I think Tony Khan is safe ;)
Also on that note.... Karrion Kross, Keith Lee, Ember Moon, Oney Lorcan, Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, Mia Yim, Harry Smith, Eva Marie and Nia Jax are all free agents as their 90 day no compete clause is up.
AEW better pick up Keith Lee and Ember Moon at the very least... and then Tegan Nox later when she is free. I think Oney Lorcan would be a really good worker for AEW as well. I'll admit that I never cared for Karrion Kross unless his wife was with him.. Oooh how about Eva Marie being All Elite? Just kidding.

Hmmm no debuts free agents last night but that's okay.
- Not exactly sure what Danhausen's role is with Best Friends but he was so over that the crowd was chanting "Lets Go Moxley/Danhausen!" when he wasn't even in the match. I liked the Bryan Danielson brought up the idea of him and Moxley being mentors for guys like Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Lee Moriarty. Imagine that. =D But of course, Mox rides solo for the most part so that's not going to happen.
- Brandi Rhodes segment and future feud with Paige Van Zant. I don't see the point of this.
- Pac & Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Malakai Black & Brody King was pretty good. Maybe it's just me but I think Brody King needs new ring gear (unless he's always just worn trunks). He's a real big fella but what he wears looks like big diapers to be honest. PAC doing the blindfold thing was pretty neat.
- Nyla Rose vs Ruby Soho. I think Ruby Soho has the catchiest theme song in AEW. I love it when Taz sings to it on Dark. Not much to say about this match other than the fact that they seem to continue to push Nyla Rose like a contender, which is fine. No idea what direction they're trying to go for Ruby Soho.
- Adam Page promo. I liked that he was upset that he only defended the title twice since he's been champ.. and that he wants more. I think with so much going on, so many wrestlers aren't even appearing for weeks which can be kind of bad for their momentum if I'm being quite honest.
- CM Punk vs MJF. What a great match. Punk basically put MJF over twice. I know they're doing an insanely slow build to Wardlow's face turn but I feel like they need to do it sooner rather than later. If you take too long, all that excitement will eventually turn into, "Meh, it finally happened. Next."

Crowds really don't like the rhodes right now huh? If Dan Lambert and his goons can get cheers something's off. A few of the shots he and Brandy exchanged might have hit near that over-the-line mark.
I still am unsure about Danhausen but his mannerisms and facial expressions intrigued me, there's something there.
Pac and Penta (and fenix) are incapable of having a bad match.
I love that Rancid gave Ruby permission to use Ruby Soho for her theme. Lars Frederiksen from the band was the one at ringside that she stood with (a big wrestling fan). Cool to see. Not cool to see her lose. I have no idea what they're doing with her either.

- Stoked about Keith Lee debuting last night. Few references to Jeff Hardy as well since we know it's coming. When Isiah Kassidy was posing in the corner waiting for his mystery opponent, Marc Quen turned around to see Matt Hardy flash Jeff's hand signals and Marc was like "WTF??". Then of course, Matt Hardy bailed on the match when he left ringside just like Jeff did. Fun little references really. The highlight IMO was that initial toss that Keith Lee gave to Kassidy. Holy crap was a throw and great sell as well by Isiah.
- Adam Cole supposedly bringing in guys to set up that feud with Kenny Omega. I can't wait.
- If you were to tell me CM Punk and Jon Moxley was going to wrestle in a tag match vs FTR 2-3 years ago I think no one would buy it. What a great tag match.
- You can see Jade Cargill improving rapidly thanks to Bryan Danielson. I love it. The bit with Serena Deeb beating anyone within 5 minutes or less reminds me of Kurt Angle's thing. That was how John Cena started out right? Either way, this will probably go on for a few weeks where Serena crushes jobbers and eventually Athena (Ember Moon), Nixon Newell (Tegan Nox), or Toni Storm will appear.
- Does Hangman Adam Page need to bleed like crazy in all this matches? This match was fun. It was a predictable ending as we knew Lance Archer wasn't going to win. But I did like the spot with the Buckshot Lariat since the top rope was taken down. Flipping over the ref who was trying to pick up some barbed wire was creative.
Insanely stacked Dynamite overall. I'm sad the ratings will still be down regardless since they're going up against the Winter Olympics.

so I guess it was Jay White and Keith Lee :) I can't wait until at some point we get Keith Lee vs. Wardlow.
Speaking of Wardlow - that MJF opening segment was fantastic. I want to thank the man who really helped me win, shawn spears! The crowd goes ballistic when he does 5 powerbombs in a row. His turn has to come soon.
I honestly don't think they need Jeff Hardy. The roster is so stacked already.
I think 5-10 minutes could've been shaved off the tag match, but it was awesome nontheless. And that Texas death match? Holy s***. I thought they maneuvered it perfect to show it was Archer's kind of match, and just that inkling he could possibly win it (even though we knew he wouldn't). Page sure has lost a lot of blood in AEW. The buckshot lariat over the ref was fantastic. And what was up with Lance Archer stopping Jake Roberts from doing the DDT on Page?
Does Cole beat Page and be champ when Kenny returns? I hope hangman gets to hold the title longer.
The breakup of the inner circle came kind of quickly no? But Santana and Ortiz were pretty solid on the mic. They should've been speaking more!
Totally stacked show.

Right on! How much were the tickets and the fees?
So ticketmaster SUCKS. I was waiting to get in their virtual queue at 9:30. When it started at 10 I had 2,084 people in front of me. When I finally got in all the lower level seats were gone, except for a few "platinum pricing" seats. I guess that is now where ticketmaster beefs up the price for certain tickets that are deemed "high demand". I refreshed a few times and somehow got the tickets in 103 row 2 for $82 + fees, which came to about $100 each. SUCKS as I had a friend who somehow got in before me and got in 132 for $37+fees, so I think I got stuck in that high demand oversales. But I didn't want to miss it and you only live once so I did it.
I went back on at 10 am this morning to see and after the queue line at 10:03 all the lower level seats were already gone. Oh but there's "Platinum" seats in the 4th row going for over $2K each. :( There are also a ton already on Stubhub at ridiculous prices. (I see section 103 row 8 for $215 each)
But hey, I'm going and it will be glorious.

I really love the idea of the Blackpool Combat Club. I think it's a huge reason why Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley (and maybe even Regal) came to AEW. So they can work with these young guys and make them a star. With AEW's long term story telling, we need to remember that Bryan Danielson mentioned mentoring Lee Moriarty and Daniel Garcia as well. While Daniel Garcia is currently doing his thing as a sports entertainer, we know he's a damn good technical wrestler. So let him do his thing and once he's not a sports entertainer anymore... he can join the BCC :)
Also, some women joining that group would do wonders for them as well. Get Jamie Hayter in there or maybe even Toni Storm.
I honestly didn't know much about Jay Lethal and thought he was kinda bland. But as soon as they let him cut a heel promo last week, he caught my attention at how good of a speaker he can be. I'm sure obviously he'll lose to Joe but at least he'll look good doing so. The "wasting Samoa Joe" part is really tough to say. There are too many damn good wrestlers that all deserve to win or get a "push".
I also want to talk about FTR real quick. Is this the first time they ever got a face run? I'm drawing a blank for their time in NXT. Love their entrance music and they are over as hell now. I'm happy for them.
And lastly, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti now have Cody and Brandi's "go away heat" in which the crowd genuinely doesn't like them or care about their story. I really wish they'd stop forcing that on the crowd. And Sammy not mentioning anything about the Inner Circle breaking up is weird.
ucsdguy1
April 12th, 2022, 09:14 AM
So apparently AEW edited out some of the boos for Sammy and Tay in one of the broadcasts according to the rag sheets? Apparently they were thrown off by it.
Agreed on BCC, if done right. I loved the handshake from Regal to Yuta after the match.
FTR had a semi-face run in NXT, but I think it was mostly just because the crowd appreciated them. Half the "heels" in NXT back when NXT was still NXT got cheered just because of their performances.
All you need to know about Jay Lethal is the woo-off with Ric Flair :) (and maybe his macho man impressions too). He definitely can speak well when given the opportunity.

That main event of Minoru Suzuki vs Samoa Joe was SO GOOD. I think I grimaced with each and every slap/chop. Those guys are nuts.
Hated the post match segment of it though. It was a very WWE like ending.. and the last thing we need in AEW is a giant type dude like Khali/Omos who can't move or wrestle. And I agree with what someone said on Twitter that not everyone who debuts or makes a surprise attack need to have the lights go out.
CM Punk vs Penta was super fun as well. I guess Penta is just waiting for Rey Fenix to return from injury but man, he is really over with the crowd.
Then we got Jurassic Express vs ReDragon. I know eventually Jurassic Express will lose the Tag Titles but it's nice to see them defend the belts successfully in the mean time. They don't look weak at all which is nice to see.

So my fear is Jurassic Express is going to lose the belts at Double or Nothing than not show up at the Dynamite in LA. My boys will be crushed. I think they're trying hard to put off red dragon/cole and the bucks/omega until Kenny comes back. But can't wait to see what kind of pop Thunder Rosa gets.
I also loved the Joe match, but hated the big dude who's name I don't even remember. That's not what aew is built on and I can already tell I don't care about this guy. If I want a dominant big man who might not be as tall I have Wardlow (or Archer, or Hobbs, or Cage). I think Khan already apologized for the way they debuted the guy.
Did I mention I'm in love with Wheeler Yuta?
Did I mention how much fun the Cole/Page deathmatch was even if we've seen the gimmick a few times already? This has to be the end of Cole getting a title shot for now, right? Page/Punk next?
Still though - feel aew signed too many guys too fast. It's hard to build up someone or a story when tv time is so limited because of new guys or guys (or girls) we haven't seen in forever.

My original thought was that I think the PPV in June with NJPW will just be a "one-off" kind of event. I don't expect NJPW wrestlers to actually appear on Dynamite/Rampage on a regular basis. Maybe to set up a match and that's it? Or maybe they'll just announce it as a "dream match" but with no actual feuds.

Yes but if they're going to pump up the ppv they have to have guys on at least now through June. Just like Jay White/Adam Cole this week. Which takes away time from other guys playing a major part of All or Nothing. And for goodness sake's can they do it when we'll be assured of a Omega/Okada match? :)
But even if a one off, do it a little further from one of your main pay per views.

Man, the Double or Nothing card looks like it could be a 6 hour ppv...
Buy-In:
Hookhausen vs. Nese/Sterling - Hookhausen wins to get the crowd fired up for the night. Nese will pull Danhausen out of the ring and Hook will demolish Sterling to win.
Other Card:
CM Punk vs. Hangman Page - finally time for CM Punk to ascend?
MJF vs. Wardlow - first match, MJF will find a way to cheat and win or get himself disqualified so this can continue.
Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe - have this feeling Cole will find a way to take it.
Hardys vs. Young Bucks - should see some high flying in this one. I'll take Young Bucks.
Jungle Boy/Luchasaurus vs. Starks/Hobbs vs. Lee/Strickland - finally time for a Cage heel turn? I saw he flips and jurassic express lose the titles. I'll take Lee/Strickland so they have some direction.
House of Black vs. Death Triangle - one of my most anticipated matches, it will be awesome. Death Triangle will win and Julia Hart may finally turn to the HOB.
Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Combat Club/Santana & Ortiz - there will be blood and fire. And Jericho will come out on top.
Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb - the match with the least amount of build up that could potentially be very good? I don't like the idea of Rosa losing the title already, especially with Dynamite in LA next week. So I'll take Rosa.
Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay - nothing to see here, Cargill wins again.
Britt Baker vs. Statlander or Soho - since we don't know who Baker will be facing yet. I'm going to say Statlander with her new persona, then she'll beat Baker after Hayter accidentally causes her to lose.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Cargill/Jay match is moved to the pre-show but who knows. Otherwise there's not really a bad match on the card!

Did you end up ordering it? I made the decision to purchase it at around 3:30 PM. I just thought "Awwww **** it. I really wanted to watch Hangman vs Punk and MJF vs Wardlow."
Overall, I thought it was a decent show. Definitely not worth the $50 but I'm also not mad/disappointed at the same time. They really need to get to a streaming service ASAP though as B/R Live is pure ass. It wasn't even working until around 4:45 PM. Thankfully the buy-in was on Youtube.
Hookhausen vs Tony Nese & Smart Mark Sterling - First time ever watching Danhausen wrestle. He definitely has an Orange Cassidy feel to him. I can't wait until OC is healthy again so they could form a tag team or something. Hook is 100% a megastar. I'm sure Taz is super proud of him. Also, Mark Sterling got cursed right? He took the fall and then it looks like Jade Cargill dumped him as a manager later in her match.
MJF vs Wardlow - The whole dirt sheet stuff about MJF booking a flight out of Vegas the night before the PPV and how he's totally unhappy about his contract status and whatnot. I honestly think it's a work. And they're keeping up this "drama" because people believe everything they read online these days. It also doesn't help that the Dirt Sheet kind of eggs it on, because they know people want to sound "smart" and be "in the know". It's a vicious cycle really. Anyway, for the match itself this was perfectly booked and a lot of fun. Wardlow was absolutely suppose to murder MJF here. I laughed when the AEW Medical Staff immediately showed up ringside to put him on a stretcher as well. Where does Wardlow go from here? It's obviously too soon for him to challenge for the AEW World Title (that might be for MJF). He should definitely make a run for the TNT Title.
Hardy Brothers vs Young Bucks - I didn't really like this match. I feel like Jeff doesn't have it anymore. He's slow, sluggish, and just looks absolutely run down. Matt is looking like the younger brother and more rejuvenated one at this point. I get that they're going to probably give the Hardy Brothers the AEW Tag Titles soon enough since this is their last "hurrah". But maybe Jeff needs some time off. I know he's still extremely over with the crowd but watching him wrestle kind of makes me sad. With that said though, the match was fun for what it was. It was still a good kind of crazy and the Young Bucks are a lot of fun to watch.
TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill vs Anna Jay - This match was not good. I like Anna Jay but it's clear that she needs a lot of work still. I feel like the impact of her moves are weak. Like for example when Jade had her in the turnbuckle and Anna was countering with elbow shots to Jade. Those elbows look insanely weak and not believable at all. Then you got Jade, who is still a work in progress. Granted, she has improved drastically since being trained by Bryan Danielson but still, she makes mistakes. So you put together a random match with no buildup and then add a lot of interference to it. With Smart Mark Sterling, the "baddies", Stokely Hathaway (Malcolm Bivens on NXT), and then Kris Statlander & Athena with the save. Very random! lol
But at least this means Jade Cargill and the Baddies have a new manager in Stokely. I laughed when Excalibur said something like Stokely hasn't been seen since 2017 and JR said something like "I never seen him before". Which is true in a sense because I stopped watching NXT when Malcolm Bivens was on NXT actually.) Athena being the next threat for Jade's title is fine by me. Happy that she's finally All Elite. It took awhile!
Death Triangle – Pac, Rey Fenix & Penta Oscuro vs. House of Black – Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews - This was a FUN match. All 6 of these men really shined and were able to do what they do best. Brody King had a "botch" by trying to jump over the top rope and his body mostly hit the ring apron. But no one really cared given his size, which is understandable. I marked out when Julia Hart FINALLY joined House of Black. They took forever with this and now I can see why... they basically put it on hold when Rey Fenix broke his arm. All in all, I'm excited to see where House of Black goes from here. The Trios title needs to be official already.
Men's Owen Hart Tournament Final: Adam Cole vs Samoa Joe - This was a good match. I don't think it was great by any means. I really wish Bobby Fish didn't interfere though.. it felt really unnecessary. It's like if you were going to do that, then have Jay Lethal do it, the guy that's actually feuding with Joe. At least that would be a better choice over Fish helping out Cole just because they're friends. With that said though, Cole winning the tournament is fine with me. He kind of needs it after losing to Hangman twice. Let him challenge for the TNT Title next!
Women's Owen Hart Tournament Final: Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs Ruby Soho - Ahh.. this match was okay. I did like how the crowd was split on the two wrestlers and they weren't the same crowd that booed Ruby Soho for beating Kris Statlander. I did feel that we knew Britt Baker was winning since Adam Cole won his match. So what do they do with the titles? It feels like it'll be a yearly tournament like King of the Ring but I don't see them carrying those belts with them. I think having their names engraved on the trophy like the Stanley Cup is awesome though. It can be seen as a big deal for years to come.
Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page & Paige Vanzant (w/Dan Lambert) vs. Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti - This was my bathroom break match and I took the time to fold laundry as I had zero interest in it. All I have to say is... I'm glad this feud is over. And hopefully Scorpio Sky remains a TNT Champ for awhile so that Sammy Guevara can't challenge for the title for that whole time.
Darby Allin vs. Kyle O’Reilly - I wasn't too into this match as I needed a breather knowing that the PPV was barely half over. Maybe I'll go back and rewatch it later but I just let the stream run in the background. I caught the finish and thought it was fine that Kyle won. He needed it. And also I don't think losses really hurt Darby anymore at this point. lol
AEW Women’s Championship Match: Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb - It took me awhile to get into this match but I thought both women worked hard. I wonder if Serena Deeb will ever win the big one because she deserves it. But I think it was obvious that there's no way Thunder Rosa would lose here since she barely won the title a few months ago.
Anarchy in the Arena Match: The Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley), Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz vs. The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Angelo Parker & Matt Menard)
- This match was SO fun! It was stupid, it was brutal, and it was exactly what was needed to get all that energy back in the crowd. I did however have one major complaint and that was the lack of Eddie Kingston vs Chris Jericho. They all split up in pairs so it was mostly Moxley/Jericho, Danielson/Hager, Santana & Ortiz and Kingston/Menard, Parker, and Garcia for most of the match. The only small interaction between Kingston and Jericho was towards the end when Kingston poured gasoline on Jericho and Danielson.. and then got "killed" by a Judas Effect. He seriously stayed knocked out for like 5+ minutes wtf?
I think the Jericho Appreciation Society winning was fine. I don't think it mattered who won right? It was just great fun to see the destruction.
Backstage segment with Andrade El Idolo introducing a new "business partner" - So he says the AFO is no more and he's sick of losing. He introduces a guy named Rush. I don't know anything about Rush but hey, at least this means Andrade will start winning again right? Where does he go from here? Tag Titles?
AEW Tag Team Championship Match: Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (w/Christian Cage) vs. Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee - Fun match. I still hate the Triple Threat Tag team rules where only 2 people are "legal" at any given time. It's going to be chaotic anyway so it should seriously be like a Tornado match with no tags if I had my way. Not much to say here other than the fact that everyone got to shine in their own ways. Jungle Boy seems to get distracted quite easily doesn't he? It'll only be a matter of time for Christian to turn on him as they keep teasing it. Who takes the Tag Titles off of them at this point? FTR? Or do they hold it until they lose to the Hardy Brothers?
AEW World Championship Match: Hangman Adam Page vs. CM Punk - Finally we are at our last match and I think I paced myself well enough because I had the energy to enjoy it and so did the crowd. This was about what I expected in terms of story telling. Hangman deciding not to use the title as a weapon to win came back to haunt him. I think we all knew Punk would be AEW Champ eventually. If this is his one and only run with the title, I'm okay with that.
So yeah, great PPV overall. Maybe not worth the $50 price tag.. but then again I'll always feel like that's a steep price since we were so used to the WWE Network.. But like I said, I'm not mad about it. I honestly don't think I'll buy the Forbidden Door PPV next month though. It's too soon to shell out another $50. Enjoy Dynamite at The Forum!!!!!!!!!

I ordered it on Directv. My initial thought was – they went WWE and went waaaay too long. We watched the pre-show as Hookhausen was one of the main matches we wanted to see, not knowing it would be on the backside of the hour show. After 3 hours we were beat and there were still multiple matches to come. It’s too much to watch in one sitting. So I’ll just comment on my better liked matches of the night.
Hookhausen match was awesome. Danhausen trying to get a selfie with Hook and smiling was hilarious. Danhausen got enough moves in to show he can actually wrestle. Hook destroyed, and tagging in Danhausen to make the pin was fantastic. Yes Sterling got cursed. I’m 100% sure that also caused Cargill to dump him :)
CM Punk/Hangman – so my only problem with this match aside from my love for Hangman…I thought Punk looked a bit slow. He screwed up the buckshot lariat twice, and barely got off that superplex from the top rope. And kicking out late when the ref had to stop his count early or he would’ve hit 3? Yikes. But we all knew he’d become champ at some point, and this was the time. Khan is all in on him, I just hope he can keep up high quality matches. I love Punk as much as the next guy but he just seems a step slow for me.
Death Triangle/House of Black – probably one of our favorite matches of the night. As you said, pretty much everyone shined. Julia Hart played her part well. She looks so young it's ridiculous.
MJF/Wardlow – plane stuff was a total work. When MJF started mimicking a plane in the ring I laughed so hard. I totally thought MJF would cheat or allow himself to get counted out and they’d drag the feud on. But Wardlow murdered him, end of story. The crowd chanting “10” around powerbomb #6 (https://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=6) or 7 was classic. And loved his appreciation when Schiavone announced he was now “officially” part of AEW.
Rosa/Deeb – I loved this match because of how technical it was. I think the crowd took a break at times but bought into what was happening overall. I hope Rosa gets to celebrate tomorrow night.
Anarchy in the Arena – loved Wild Thing going through the whole song while the match went on. Loved Kingston being so mad he poured gasoline on Danielson to get to Jericho. We can now have a Kingston/Danielson match, or at the least Kingston/Jericho 1 on 1. So much going on here it was hard to unpack. What happened to Santan and Ortiz after they hit the ladder spot? They seemed to disappear. And we needed more freight elevator action! I still think the JAS is awkward as I still have trouble naming the guys in it. But they had to win this one.
Other notes:
Hardys/Bucks – totally with you. Hardy boys don’t do it for me much anymore. Nice of the Bucks to take the pin but you could tell they were holding back in what could’ve occurred. Jeff Hardy again ran out of the ring when the match ended. Was he hurt?
Martha Hart speech – I liked it a lot. She was seriously honored and made it feel special. Made sense after seeing this that Cole and Baker won. Would’ve been awkward to see Cole and Riot stare at each other. Liked Cole and Baker taking a break from the heel stuff to enjoy the moment and interact with Martha.
Ruby Riot – speaking of Riot….I am a big Rancid guy so it was cool seeing them play. But otherwise, has anyone had less of a cache build since she started? She’s lost to Baker twice and I have no idea where she goes now unless it’s a heel turn.
Matches that didn’t need to happen and could’ve shortened the PPV:
- Cargill/Anna Jay
- Sky/Page/Vanzant
- Allin/O’Reilly (I mean good for O’Reilly, but this felt like a Dynamite match. And at some point Allin has to actually WIN some matches right?)
Potential picks to take the tag titles off Jurassic Express:
- Hookhausen
- That’s about it.
- Okay maybe Andrade/Rush (I don’t know anything about Rush either) and then Hookhausen can take it from them.
And yes, we need the trios titles asap. There are too many good trios not to have it.

They pulled Jeff Hardy out of the 10 man tag because he's been really banged up. His AEW matches haven't been good at all in my opinion. He's so slow and sluggish. I'm not expecting him to be young Jeff anymore but he looks terrible in general compared to Matt. And Adam Cole got pulled out of the 10 man tag as well due to an injury suffered against Samoa Joe I believe.
And I don't think they officially announced Scorpio Sky vs Dante Martin. I remember in the promo Sky said he'll fight Martin in Southern California, as he didn't say LA specifically. So it could be on Rampage.

That was pretty fun.
Highlights were definitely the death triangle pre-show match, MJF's promo, the 10 man tag match and the main event. Hell I thought the women's tag team match was great too with some stiff shots, so basically the whole show. CM Punk missing his balance on the top rope though again.....yeeeesh. His "I still have a ways to go" promo after sort of saved it I guess. Insanely over with the crowd though.
MJF - wow, what a promo. That's the way to get the whole crowd chanting M-J-F for the next few segments.
I like the Forum for wrestling more than Staples Center I think. We were mid level and felt a lot lower than mid level at Staples, with a very good view. But I pre-bought parking - $45 though???

Nice! Glad you had a good time. The crowd looked amazing on TV and the energy was up almost all night. I felt like it sort of died down a bit during the Women's Tag Match but that happens.
The Acclaimed is over as well aren't they? Love the fan interactions they do now with the "Ass boys" chant. I think the Gunn brothers need to do more research though with them calling out the wrong location. If they wanted more heat, say San Francisco and not Sacramento and San Diego
MJF is hands down the best on the mic. How can he go full speed like that and not have his voice crack? People just hang on to his every word which is amazing. And the best part about him mentioning Tony Khan liking Ex-WWE guys is that the match before his promo was Punk and FTR and then the match after was Johnny Elite and Miro. It's just perfect. I'd be really surprised if MJF isn't the guy to take the AEW Title off of CM Punk.
Speaking of not doing "research", I think they made a mistake to not feature the Lucha Bros and Thunder Rosa in LA. They would have been insanely over in LA with our diversity.
Did they announce anything about returning to LA soon or no?

So funny enough I thought in the arena the crowd at times was subdued, but at times pretty loud. But I'm sure they focus the mics and was hoping it came off well on tv. When they were loud, they were loud. Sold out 15,000 strong. Did die out during women's match when it started. I think everyone was out of breath. But, as it went on "this is awesome" chants started and they got way more into it. Britt is still incredibly over.
Yes the Acclaimed gets a reaction, I forgot about that. It was hard to hear his rap in the arena, but he got the loudest pop for the Amber Heard comment. I had to go back and listen to what he said on TV. The Sacramento and San Diego got loud boos, then LA loud cheers. Nothing is funnier than seeing my 9 and 7 year old boys chanting "Ass boys".
Oh yes Miro got a massive pop too. He looked very good, not much rust there. What's the point of Johnny Elite, to just get beat and put guys over?
I am 100% with you on Lucha Bros and Thunder Rosa. Lucha Bros got massive crowd action and would've come off well on Dynamite. I saw a number of Thunder Rosa chants in the crowd and feel she would've been massively loved. Kazarian and SCU got very good cheers in a pre-show match too.
They didn't announce about returning to LA. Moxley got on the mic and said "this is something special and LA proved it's AEW country". And the announcer said "if we come back will you all come back too?" (cheers). I forget the ring announcer's name, but he did great keeping the crowd engaged during breaks.
I was happy at the amount of comments I got on my Aubrey shirt. However in one of the Dark pre-show matches she sent Evil Uno to the back after he grabbed a chair away from the opponents, seemingly thinking he was going to use it. This got boos and my whole section turned and gave me heat. :) Class.

Oh also - Danhausen shirts everywhere. Surprised no appearance before or during the show. Probably Rampage.
They also had championship belts for sale for $850, that rumor was they sold out of the limited supply.
One more note - I don't know if they showed on tv but doesn't sound like it....when MJF finished his promo CM Punk ran out. MJF hopped over a railing and left. CM Punk went immediately back to the backstage. Just a little tidbit.

Thanks for the info! $850? Holy moly... I think when they were selling that online it was $700 and even then, that is way too steep!
They didn't show MJF leaving on TV. Basically right after his mic went dead, they cut to commercial. And when they returned from commercial, JR, Tony, and Excalibur made no mention of MJF and the segment that just happened. Kayfabe lives on!!!
MJF is definitely the one to beat Punk for the belt... the question is when? They did this whole thing now where they removed his merchandise from ShopAEW and removed him from the roster page on the website.

Bryan Danielson's replacement has to be Claudio (Cesaro) right? Who else can it be as far as technical wrestlers go and also a free agent... lol. I don't think Johnny Gargano is a technical wrestler but he needs to be in AEW already.
And fudge, I wasn't too hyped for Forbidden Door but now suddenly we got Okada in the Fatal Four Way for the IWGP Heavyweight title? I'm sure Adam Cole will be the one eating the pinfall though regardless of who wins.
Also, I kind of hope that Tanahashi will beat Moxley to become the interim AEW Champ. It would be a damn nice surprise to have someone from NJPW "hold" an AEW title until Punk can return. Mox winning is great too as it's well deserved but I kind of want a surprise outcome.
As of now, I'm definitely not thinking about spending $50 on this. I'll find streams... lol

June 23rd, 2022, 02:59 PM
Yeah my first thought was Cesaro as well. I couldn't think of who else would be so "astounding". I love Gargano but doubt he's someone Danielson would say he trusts completely. If he didn't already appear, Samoa Joe would've been cool Karrion Kross? ha. My final answer....hook. (okay maybe not)
I don't think there has been nearly enough promotion of some of the lesser known NJPW guys for those fans who don't know the company well. Okada, Ospreay, White, Tanahashi, I know those guys well. Not everyone does. Ishii, Cobb/O-Khan, Roppongi Vice, Tagashi, Hikuleo, Umino....I am not nearly as familiar with. And I don't think they've done enough on TV to make the casual fan consider it a can't miss. I took am stoked to see Okada there. And Ospreay/Cassidy should be awesome. Don't see any way Moxley doesn't keep the title, unless Tanahashi has a mega deal. But I can't see Khan letting that happen. I'm still taking a pass on buying the ppv.

So I was using streaming websites and I knew what I was getting into... having the stream cut off every so often and then I'd have to wait like 30-60 seconds to refresh it for it to work again. >_< But I caught most of the key moments and finishes that I wanted to see so it was fine. The PPV overall was awesome. That Chicago crowd was amazing (although they didn't understand the Jordan/Pippen reference which was dumb but at least Ricky Starks called them out on it )
Buy-in Results
- Bishamon (Hirooki Goto and Yoshi-Hashi) defeated The Factory (QT Marshall and Aaron Solo).
- Lance Archer defeated Nick Comoroto.
- Swerve In Our Glory (Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee) defeated Suzuki-gun (El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru).
- Gunn Club (Billy, Austin, and Colten Gunn) and Max Caster (with Anthony Bowens) defeated Yuya Uemura and New Japan LA Dojo (Alex Coughlin, The DKC, and Kevin Knight).
I didn't watch the first two matches. Saw the Swerve in Our Glory tag match. It was fun for what it was. All I have to say is that Swerve is ****ing amazing at what he does. Crowd popped hard for that one most where he stomped on a guy from the ring to the apron
Max Caster's rap was one of the better ones this year in my opinion. From poking fun of the injuries AEW has piled up to rhyming senpai with hentai.. that's quite creative. I have no idea what Danhausen is doing with the Ass Boys but it's weird that the two Gunn brothers would just leave the match because of that. Billy Gunn got to shine here and having them win 2 vs 4 was bizarre but it was all in good fun. Those 4 guys were just LA Dojo dudes so they're basically nobodies.
Forbidden Door PPV Results
Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki vs. Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta & Shota Umino - This match surprised me. It had NO RIGHT being this damn good. I wish I got to see Minoru Suzuki wrestle when he was in his prime. He's old now but still a bad ass! I knew nothing about Shota Umino but holy crap, he's really good. Definitely a future star in the making. The ending was pretty predictable which was fine by me. Now the JAS will get the advantage in their Blood and Guts match.
IWGP Tag Team Titles and ROH Tag Team Titles: FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) (ROH) vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb) (IWGP) vs. Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero) - Once again, I hate the way they do the rules for Triple Threat Tag Matches where only 2 guys are legal. But in this case, with Dax Harwood separating his shoulder it actually told a good story. Cash Wheeler *had* to tag in someone that wasn't his partner because he was getting beat up too much. Dax eventually came back to win which surprised me. I like it when I can't tell if I'm being worked or not.
AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Pac vs. Malakai Black vs. Miro vs. Clark Connors - Thjs match was bad ass. Everyone got a chance to shine, even Clark Connors. I would have been fine with anyone winning this but seeing PAC finally win a title in AEW was great. Loved the "You deserve it" chants from the crowd.
Bullet Club (El Phantasmo, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson) w/Hikuleo vs. Dudes with Attitudes (Darby Allin, Sting, and Shingo Takagi) - My stream was getting taken down for most of this match so I didn't watch much of it. The little bits I saw was stupid fun when El Phantasmo and I think Matt Jackson did weird dance and flippy moves to claw at Darby Allin's back. Shingo got the pinfall victory which was kinda neat. Give the NJPW guys some rub!
AEW Women?s Championship: Thunder Rosa vs. Toni Storm - My stream was still being taken down often for most of this match. From what little I saw, Toni Storm didn't really put up much of a fight. I was surprised she lost that quickly and it was a little weird to me that Thunder Rosa didn't look happier about the win.
IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship: Will Ospreay vs. Orange Cassidy - This might have been my favorite match of the night. Orange Cassidy is LEGIT. Will Ospreay is LEGIT. They had a sequence of moves towards the end of the match that was just nuts. So much fun. I loved the pop that Shibata got even if I didn't know who he was. I think he was trying to give the people what they want (with a Best Friends hug) but Orange Cassidy just rolled out of the ring.. twice.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Zack Sabre Jr. - Loved the pop Claudio got. You can tell that he felt loved and that was great. Also hilarious to see him go up to the buff camera man that everyone expected to be him to show that he wasn't him. I think overall the match was fine. Zack Sabre Jr is a damn good wrestler. Maybe it went longer than it needed to but it gave Claudio more time to wrestle which is never a bad thing. It's awesome that Claudio is already a member of the BCC and will be in the Blood and Guts match so that should be fun. (And on a side note, when Zack Sabre Jr. called it the Blackpool Country Club it made me laugh like crazy)
IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Jay White vs. Adam Cole vs. Kazuchika Okada vs. ?Hangman? Adam Page - Okada is so good!!! This much was awesome. The finish was bizarre. People said Adam Cole sufferred a concussion hence the abrupt finish but I wonder when he suffered it. Because he dodged the Rainmaker like 3 times and yet suddenly got pinned like it was nothing by Jay White. I'm sure an audiable was called. Either way, it doesn't take away the fact that it was such a good match.
Interim AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi - Another really good match. Tanahashi can fly! I think Moxley wanting to blade was kind of dumb because he only got hit with a swing blade and then rolled out to the ring, got near the apron... and then volia, blood! The result was predictable and I guess I can understand not putting the title on Tanahashi because he might not be in the US for a few months.
So overall, AEW delivered again. The next PPV is All Out during Labor Day weekend but they're having an ROH PPV in July.

Did you watch Blood and Guts ucsd?? That was such a crazy match.
It's really such a shame that Santana got injured about a minute into the match.. poor dude had to lay on the side of the cell for like 30+ minutes wtf. They could seriously just open the door and get him out of there instead of making him lie there suffering.
The Sammy Guevara bump was perfect. The way he just flipped over, that dude is nuts. Then you got broken glass, thumbtacks, skewers, forks... wtf is going on LOL. I really loved how Claudio got to work the whole match and seeing him wrestle Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara I was smiling from ear to ear. And the crowd chanting "We the people" when he was fighting Jake Hager was awesome. I totally forgot about how they were in the Real Americans stable with Zeb Colter in WWE. It just goes to show that we're all wrestling fans in general and most AEW fans just like the better product at the moment. Okay I watched - holy hell! It started 1 hour into the show and I'm like is this gonna go the full hour? I legit thought when Claudio was swinging Jericho on top of the cage he might let go by accident and throw him off. Sammy's bump was fantastic but I hope he's safe! Did they use chopsticks at one point? I thought so and my son goes "why would he use chopsticks that's for sushi". "Well why would he use a fork son?"
See when Conti was trying to pass a rubbing alcohol bottle through the cage to Jericho and it wouldn't go through, then just kind of half exploded? That was funny.
Totally setting up Claudio/Kingston too which could be a great clash of styles.
Also - the pops FTR are getting are insane. Danhausen going "I found a team that is pretty good at the wrestling, I guess" was hilarious.

Yeah, that's the part that sucks. For guys like Take****a and Hikaru Shida. They're always going to go back to Japan at one point or another so unless they become a permanent resident (like Shinsuke Nakamura for example), it's tough to push them or give them a meaningful storyline if they have to go home.

The whole trio thing with the bucks was weird. They did a whole segment last week of them asking Page, only for him to turn them down and support the dark order. Kind of forgot about it last night. Kenny looked good but rusty, and played the part of still having rib and leg injuries bothering him very well. Does this go into his being injured again and can't continue, then Page comes in to save the trios day?

Super happy Omega is back. He's a storyteller so him wearing a brace and a shirt to wrestle, I'm sure it'll all come off during the finals.
This is probably fantasy booking on my part but I see Dark Order making it to the Finals as well but have either a combintion of Alex Reynolds, Preston Vance or Evil Uno injured or something. This way, Hangman can fill in and work with Silver and Uno/Reynolds/Vance and face off against the Bucks and Omega.
Also, that CM Punk promo was weird with him calling out Hangman in his hometown. I don't even know if Hangman was backstage. Dirt sheets claim it's Punk being petty from personal drama but who knows. Dirt sheets say a lot of things because they desperately need clicks. I do think having them unify the AEW Title next week is interesting. Punk will win and MJF will immediately return and set up the match for All Out. Tony Khan loves to put storylines on hold due to injury (like with Julia Hart taking forever to join the House of Black...), so I can see MJF being back for the PPV. That would certainly leave Mox in a limbo though if that were to happen.
Another thing on the MJF part.. he's technically only been gone for 9 weeks, but why does it feel like he's been gone for 6 months? Do you feel this way? I am still very sports entertained by AEW weekly but can't help but feel the void MJF left has been really big.
ucsdguy1
August 19th, 2022, 09:50 AM
Yeah who knows about the dirt sheets but plenty of them saying nobody backstage knew he was going to mention Hangman. If they're not going to have another match there was no point to bringing this up.
MJF been gone way too long, but there's nothing for him to rush himself into yet. I like your thinking on Punk winning and him returning. I too think Punk will beat Moxley somehow. But imagine they wait a bit more, and have punk just go full heel for a few weeks or more. Get the crowd to hate him, and then have MJF come back. Imagine him returning as the Austin-like good bad-guy. Maybe a crowd will never hate CM Punk, but he sure can play the annoying card.
Also tweet from Omega:
The pieces aren’t all there yet but I refuse to burden the Bucks with my limitations. We have a real chance at this. I’ll be even stronger in round 2. I’ll surpass where I was at. I’ll surpass everyone.

Saraya is All Elite!!!!
- Taz kept saying "She can go" so I guess that implies she is cleared to wrestle? If so, I'm absolutely happy for her. However, the women's division needs to change. Enough of this 1 match per show nonsense, and during the same 9:20-9:35 PM time slot. My only complaint is that it feels like Jamie Hayter's character regressed by aligning with Dr. Britt Baker yet again. I get that they did it so that Saraya could make the save. But come on now... everyone is waiting and wanting a mega face turn for Jamie already.
- I'm so stoked that Tony Khan finally put the tag belts on The Acclaimed. Remember during the pandemic shows, when they were rapping to the empty arena at Daly's Place? I think we could all see the potential they got, as they clearly got the mic skills (especially Max Caster). To see the fans rally behind them so quickly, it's just amazing really.
- Jericho winning the ROH title is fine by me. I mean I don't care much for ROH but if they're really going to have their own show, letting Jericho lead the charge as champ isn't a bad idea. (Or when Bryan Danielson wins it maybe) It adds to the story of how Daniel Garcia isn't happy about how Jericho still cheats to win. Now Claudio can move on to the AEW titles hopefully.
- PAC vs OC was fun as usual. I think the finish was flat because I bet 99% of the audience didn't even see the hammer shot by PAC.
- Lastly, having Mox win is okay. Feels repetitive at this point but I know both Bryan and Jon could carry AEW on their back anyway. And I get that if you're going to have MJF win the title, maybe having him beat Bryan isn't the way to go as you don't want Bryan to be a transitional champion. Moxley now gets to "erase" CM Punk by being a 3 time champ already, and it's a way to reward him for being the backbone of AEW despite all the backstage drama/politics.

So many thoughts on last night too
- While I don't care much about ROH and Jericho now has #8 (https://letsgokings.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=8) , I think it crushes Claudio's momentum immediately. Do we expect him to suddenly challenge for AEW titles when he just lost to Jericho, even in an underhanded way?
- Moxley winning is fine, but I agree, only in the sense that it leads to MJF finding a way to beat him. I get it, he's carrying the company. But Danielson is totally capable, and has now lost out how many times? How many times can we believe him as a bad ass in BCC but can't get over the hump? I think you're right in that he shouldn't win it just to be a transitional champion. I only see it as Moxley is now the supreme one, and when MJF beats him he becomes the chosen one. Oh and the way Morrissey choked out Yuta? He looks like a monster. Morrissey/Yuta could be an awesome match.
- PAC vs. OC: definite fun as usual, but similar thoughts - at what point does he actually win matches that matter? How can I take him seriously when he just appears to be a side show that can't win big matches? I love the guy but come on, give him some success. (I have very similar thoughts with darby allin, as I'm sure he and Sting will lose their match tomorrow night). With the trios championship couldn't they just have Pac do some of those matches for awhile. Which leads me to:
- The Acclaimed: first off, it was insane how over they were with the crowd. Insane. To me that made the match. The match was really good, not A+ but great. but the crowd to me just made it that much better. When Bowens landed wrong with the apparent knee injury (which I couldn't tell at the time was a work or legit), the crowd just went totally flat with "ah **** they're not going to win after all." The kickout thereafter brought them right back in. And the pop for Billy Gunn getting involved, which I admit I marked out to, with the win was just awesome. It is nice to see a team who came up through the Dark ranks as nobodies now be tag team champs. Very surprised too to see Swerve and Lee getting booed vociferously. Even Lee seemed pretty stunned.
- Women's match: good match. Anytime Baker bleeds it is must see. The Hayter thing doesn't make any sense other than to bring out Saraya, which negates months of storytelling. Saraya looked like she was happy to be there but not overly sure what to do once she came out. I get it, she's a draw. And I hope she's healthy enough to wrestle. But there are many others in the women's division surely who are worthy of a push too.
- Taz on commentary during the tag team title match bringing up his matches with Bam Bam Bigelow and how hard it is to wrestle a huge guy with such agility. So brilliant.
Other thoughts:
- Where the hell is Wardlow?
- How can you have a grand slam without the Lucha Bros in a significant match?
- How can you have a grand slam without Danhausen?
editor's note: both may show up on the 2 hour rampage so I reserve the right to take back
So overall, matches were once again awesome. I struggle with wrestlers who are incredibly over and incredibly talented that just are not getting important wins (Acclaimed excluded).
Final thought - CM Punk wasn't there and I didn't care. Omega/Page/Young Bucks weren't there and I did care.

Dynamite is on a Tuesday tonight because of the Astros vs Yankees/Guardians Game 1 on Wednesday.
But Yankees/Guardians Game 5 also got rained out on Monday. They're going to play at 1:07 PM PST. Given the length of playoff games, I don't think Dynamite is starting on time tonight.. Also, NXT will have people like the Good Brothers, AJ Styles, Rhea Ripley, Raquel Rodriguez, and Sonya Deville appear to compete with AEW.
Factor that in with the other MLB Playoff game, NBA Season Opener, and NHL games... what in the hell is happening tonight??? lol

Of freaking course you are, exaggerated sigh, the Padres. I did start a postseason text thread with my pals that began with a picture of Sandy Kofax standing on the mound and pointing to the scoreboard that said "F the Padres"; say what you will about the internet, sometimes it just gets you. By Sunday I was typing (drunkenly) something about digging up Tony Gwynn and getting him fitted for a ring. [Sorry Tony]. Congrats my guy...good luck.

Full disclosure, I grew up in LA and my whole family are huge dodger fans. However my grandfather lived in San Diego my whole life and some of my best memories are taking the train down growing up going to Padres and Charger games, and hanging out with him while I was at ucsd and living in SD. So even though it's sacrilegious I follow both. I laugh knowing that I was at the last home playoff game with fans in 1998 at Qualcomm. He passed away at 97 last week and I can't help but think he had something to do with the series last week :)
Anyway back to wrestling - I didn't see but read that the Page/Moxley match was stopped last night after Page fell on his head. I sure do hope he is okay.

Awwwe, multi-generational sports fan stories are easy to love but that one is admittedly pretty great. Your logic is sound about your split fandom and your grandfather?s CLEAR participation in the playoff good vibes for the Friars. If it were me, I?d leave a chair/or a seat for him on the couch (much like Elijah) when you watch those games with the family; he?d appreciate it.

Section J row 6?? Hell yea! That's pretty close to the ring. Besides an arm and a leg, how much did it really cost?
I also couldn't help but notice that's where the timekeeper's area is for AEW, so you'll probably get a good view of someone going through that table.
And maybe this time you'll get to see Kenny Omega in the flesh.

Don't ask. It was $96 each but $130 each after all the ticketmaster fees. I told the boys only it's a one time thing and next time we're sitting last row :) Plus I'm going to try and con my father coming with to pay for some of it! ha
Based on the teasers, Omega and the Bucks should be back. We just want to know whether Luchasauras will be face again by then.
MJF - is it pretty much guaranteed his standing up for Moxley and getting pummeled by the firm is his own perfect set up for being a ruse used to beat Moxley?

LOL About Luchasauras. I think he's okay as a heel but only because Christian is his manager. If he was by himself that would not work.
Oh yeah MJF may have gotten beat down by the Firm but I don't buy that he turned face. He made a promise to not use his Dynamite Diamond Ring in the match but this whole thing with Regal... he's 100% going to use Regal's brass knuckles to win. The question is... does Regal turn heel? He kind of said on commentary that he's a villain as well. AEW loves foreshadowing stuff so we'll see. The BCC doesn't seem to be getting anywhere really, so maybe it's time for Regal to ditch it?
I just want to say I'm really disappointed once again with how they book wrestlers though. Ricky Starks? Powerhouse Hobbs? You let them feud, give them a crappy 4 minute match at a PPV and then they had a great Lights Out Match during AEW Grand Slam and now they're not on TV? Are you kidding me? Then this Wardlow stuff, pairing him with Samoa Joe is pretty unnecessary. I swear, Tony doesn't know how to book his champions. Seems like every person that has the TNT Title (outside of Sammy Guevara) disappears from TV or stops being important. Then we got Hook who is hardly being used and Hookhausen just got dropped as well. But why??
The same goes for Jade Cargill. We have this little story with Nyla Rose stealing her title and well... Jade doesn't seem to care too much about it. On Rampage, she demanded to hi-jack the show, but instead got a deal for Leila Grey to wrestle Willow Nightingale and that's it? It makes no sense.
The only thing AEW has done right 100% is The Acclaimed and how extremely over they are. You need to keep them on TV, have them rap and scissor fans. Audience participation is how you keep things going.

Jeff Jarrett? Really?
Right? That was the surprise? Terrible. As long as he stays and does backstage stuff, then I don't care. But do we really need him as part of Jay Lethal's group and eventually have a match with Sting? No one wants that.
Orange Cassidy vs Shibata though on Rampage o_o There's no way Shibata loses right? Let a guy from NJPW carry the belt around this time.
Then we got The Elite and this whole getting "erased" thing. I wonder what it's leading to. Feels more like a jab at CM Punk.
Full Gear is coming up and as of this post, I don't care for it at all... even if MJF is going to win the title. That makes me sad, hype wise for AEW.

Something about Dynamite last night... it was firing on all cylinders again.
- Trios Match going to Best of 7 couldn't be more blatantly obvious but it's still silly that they already know the stipulations for Match 6 and 7 even though those are "if necessary".
- Jungleboy seemingly moving on to a new feud finally with The Firm with Hook by his side. I like!
- Acclaimed is so over it's great. But feuding with Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett? Ew. Seriously, get Jarrett off of TV and let him stick to the behind the scenes stuff. I do like his music though.
- House of Black murdering people again is great. The problem is that The Elite will win the Trios Titles and if HOB gets first dibs, they might lose, so what do you do with them?
- Jericho losing to the "jobber" known as Action Andretti was great. Did you hear that crowd pop when he kicked out of the Codebreaker?
- Welcome back Ruby Soho. I don't know what you do with Tay and Anna Jay from here.
- MJF now moves on to a feud with Bryan Danielson, should be great. I hate that the Ricky Starks match was for the AEW Title AND Dynamite Diamond Ring. We knew Ricky wasn't going to win the title but why combine it? At least let Ricky win the ring. It doesn't have to stay with MJF for 4 damn years.

ucsd, you have a PPV like Dynamite tomorrow and a very good Rampage too.
Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Adam Page -I see Hangman winning this. No reason Mox should win right? Just expect lots of blood. :)
Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter vs. Saraya and Toni Storm - This part is the most intriguing. I hope the crowd doesn't crap all over this match if Mercedes Mone doesn't show up to replace Toni Storm after Heel Shida destroys her. I don't see Saraya losing so Britt Baker has to eat the pin here right? Then you can sort of tease Britt Baker/Jamie Hayter being mad at each other if they want to go that route.
Bryan Danielson vs Konosuke Take****a - This match doesn't quite make sense for me. It'll be a great match, no doubt about it. I see them teasing a 20 minute draw but of course Bryan will win. The reason why it doesn't make sense is because of MJF's stipulation where Bryan has to win every match on TV up until Feb 8th to get a title shot. So why is a face like Take****a in this match? I mean sure, he has something to prove... but logic should be Bryan vs heels every week. But I know AEW doesn't do that so that's okay by me. The problem is that the result will be insanely obviously, but at least Take****a will look good in the loss.
JungleHook vs. Lee Moriarty and Big Bill - I don't see this going more than 5 minutes. This feud is a little strange to me. So Jungle Boy is going after giants that go after him? Hook is there to defend/help him, which is great. Plus he's on TV more regularly so no complaints there. Lee Moriarty is obviously there to take the loss because Big Bill can't look bad. At the same time, I think keeping Hook undefeated is also a tough route to go. Having him lose to someone like Big Bill might be okay by me. That way, you get rid of the "undefeated Hook" thing and he can be in more meaningful feuds moving forward.
AEW Trios Championship Escalera De La Muerte Match: Death Triangle vs. The Elite - Soooo is basically a Ladder Match right? I wonder if there's anything else that will make it more "special and unique". I really think Death Triangle should retain. Would love to see them feud with House of Black though I'm sure having them face The Elite is fine too.
Have a damn good time!

Words can't describe how much fun Dynamite was. PPV quality show.
Hangman/Moxley - awesome. Didn't even need blood. Mox played off the "possible concussion" well (assuming it wasn't real) after the match. Crowd popped hard for both, but after a bunch of hangman chants Mox gave the double bird to the crowd. pretty funny.
Adam Cole - shocked he was there! Fantastic speech. Definitely a face speech and crowd was eating it up. I won't lie there were near tears when he was talking about his headaches and waking up in the middle of the night asking what is happening to him.
Danielson/Konosuke - first off, the MJF stuff was fun (I laughed really hard with him making fun of Ken Jeong and Freddy Prinze Jr.). With the making fun of Take's Japanese though I was like uh oh here comes that line crossing again, but Konosuke with his "I said kiss my ***" was great. I am 100% behing Konosuke, he is amazing and I'll probably buy a shirt soon. You cannot tell me otherwise! Both guys chests were beat red after all the slaps. I loved the back and forth and thought maybe, just maybe they'd surprise us with the ending but it's pretty clear they're building Danielson to the title challenge. Konosuke is a star though. I think it was after it went to commercial but Bryan pulled Konosuke back into the ring and got everyone to applaud him.
JAS segment - all I'll say is..."I like this hat!"
Women's match - I won't lie this is when one of my kids made me take them to the bathroom and to get a drink. Britt Baker is over, but Hayter got a bigger pop that I could hear. I came back to see the kendo stick thrown in and Baker using it, so I assume they're gonna go with that storyline of "she screwed it up for them" for Storm/Saraya. I don't even care really that Mercedes didn't show up, the 4 in the ring are more than capable of holding their own and putting on a show.
JungleHook and Bill/Lee - nothing special. I am a little bored with Hook I hate to say as there's very little personality. Jungle Boy is still great but seems to kind of be mired with no clear direction. Not a terrible match and the look on Bill's face with his WTF reaction to being suplexed was fun. Is Luchasaurus ever coming back?
Ladder Match - what else can I say, I got what I expected and I f'n loved it. The crowd was hot and the action was even better. I was sitting on the floor 6 rows from ring and you could hear every shot taken. I really wasn't sure which way it would go. By the time the match ended I had absolutely no voice left whatsoever. My only concern with House of Black being the first trios challenger is they need some wins first. Also after went off the air, Kenny gave his adiu speech but also stopped to make sure everyone gave death triangle a standing O. They were very over. Also side note, Brody King is from Van Nuys and House of Black is awesome.
My complaint? Too long for one night. There were about 5 or 6 dark matches before Dynamite started. Some short, some medium. By the time Dynamite ended, the crowd was completely out of breath and energy. They did one more Jade Cargill Dark match before they started taping Rampage which wasn't necessary but a time killer while they switched aprons and set up. By the time it started with Darby/Juice, the crowd was waaay more subdued. Rampage had some decent matches but even I couldn't get myself up. I would strongly suggest they just film Rampage before Dynamite and keep it at that, or split the shows and maybe do Dark/Rampage as a separate one.
They announced a Ring of Honor Supercard show Friday March 31st at the Galen Center at 4:00, and Tony Khan said some AEW wrestlers would be involved. Sounds fun but the thought of trying to go to the downtown/USC area on a Friday afternoon is scary as hell.
