Scary. They were doing chest compressions on him at one point.

I was watching the game, it was very concerning when they came back from tv timeout to see the chaos on the StL bench.

Very sad, I hope he can come back to play.

Hope he gets better soon!

Apparently he's doing very well. Thankfully collapsing in mid of NHL game assures you the quickest first aid respond you can imagine.

And the good thing about going through the 1st one without serious consequences is that you are then forced to monitor your cardio-vascular system closely and routinely, making further CAs (in potentially a lot more trickier situations) considerably less likely. He could still play hockey, but considering he's up there in the age department it's highly unlikely he's going to continue at the NHL.

One thing to consider here is that he could be taking blood thinners that have the nasty adverse affect of being prone to bleeding...thus contact sports are usually prohibited by the doctors (and sanity).

But the important thing is that he's OK and doesn't have any long term issues.

If he has a device implanted in his chest, I seriously doubt he'll be playing any more contact sports. Well, kudos to him for a fine career, and at least he got to hoist the Cup.

All the best for his recovery. But I hope he calls it a career. He has been a fantastic player and I wish him well in retirement.

Sucks that his career ends this way, but the big thing is he's OK and he'll be able to live a normal life. He had a long, productive career and ended it with a Cup to his name. Hope he enjoys retirement.

my DVR happened to record this game even though it does not have instructions to record Ducks games. it was so eerie watching the game up to the moment it ended, watching Bouwmeester have great shifts....Hayward even says, "great pace to this game" about a minute before the commercial break.....and watching Bouwmeester's last shift knowing he was literally seconds away from death if this had happened somewhere without immediate medical attention. He ices the puck, the game cuts to commercial, and comes back to all the players on the ice with him collapsed on the bench.

So glad that it seems he's going to be relatively OK. And glad he got to go out with a Cup win!
