Jealous of our SS???? What did he have 27 hr's this year?
97 RBI'S??? He should win a few gold gloves by the time he's done......Dodgers wish they could have him.

As of 5/9 Khalil Greene is batting .209, 1HR, 12RBI.

I especially liked his recent 1-10 w/ 5k's performance vs. Atlanta.

LOL, Chris Young? Dude is average at best. It's actually good news for everyone in the NL West that he's your "number 1." You are not a first place team and the Rockies and the Dodgers are not worried about your overachieving (way too much) team.

TooCool is too cool indeed! I can't agree anymore about American Football, and I'm not sure why people love it soo much.

American Football is the #1 watched sport in the USA. Baseball has been fading for a while and Soccer well we all know most Americans do not watch it unless it is the World Cup.

Americans like action and football provides it while baseball provides not much. I liked playing baseball as a kid but not better than football or basketball. 7 years of baseball was enough for me.

Even a retired right fielder from the Dodgers said if baseball is boring for me in right field then it must be extremely boring for the fans in the stands.

Melfice
September 14th, 2010, 09:02 PM
Americans like action and football provides it while baseball provides not much

Interesting because I think Football is a slow moving sport. Most of the game is stop and go, over and over again, and setting up their next move etc.

If Americans like action, hockey should be at the top of the list in my eyes haha. WAY faster and a blast to watch compared to most other sports too. Soccer might come off slow to most americans, but the game play never stops which is a lot better than Football.

But that is me tho

UnderPressure

I hope SD wins the div and we see a Rays vs Padres WS in 2010!

Yes the Padres did finish ahead of the Dodgers, and NO I do not consider this a big choke job. When the Chargers are favored to win the Super Bowl and can't get out of the 1st round, that's a choke. Considering the Padres had a payroll of about $38 million and NO pre season baseball publication had them finishing above 4th or fifth and the Dodgers having a payroll of $93 million, a hall of fame coach, a $25 million dollar player in ManRam and every baseball publication having them finishing no worst then 1st or 2nd, isnot considered a choke job.

Sure they had a 1st place lead for most of the year, but their young arms gave out and they never had a decent #1 or #2 hitter. No team con come back from a 10 game losing streak. And it looks like the team that finished one game above them for first is going to win the world series.

Choke job, I don't think so. They just finished stronger them they did the year before and next year will improve on what they did last year. They have more starting pitching then they know what to do with, Ryan Ludwick will be there at the begining of they year and the only two pieces the Padres need to compete are a Center fielder and a SS that can get on base and score runs. Their arms will be a year older and stronger and who knows what they will get for AG. Yes, he will be gone and we have a Mr. Kyle Blanks waiting to take over 1B once he's gone.

What do the Dodgers have? A huge payroll with guys like Juan Pierre and Jason Shmidt still on the books, the owners going through a nasty divorce, a rookie manager, and a crappy pitching staff.

The Padres are a better team and will be next year too. And no I would not root for a NHL team if there were to be one in SD. I was born a King fan and will die a Kings fan. Besides, I live in Denver now, not San Diego. The Kings are SoCals hockey team. How has the NFL worked out in L.A. recently too? Here we go again with the payroll ****. So just because the Padres having a low payroll means it's okay for them to choke? As for the Dodgers having a higher payroll, $93 million ain't **** compared to the payrolls of the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, and Cubs. What a pathetic excuse you're making. "Ooooo look at our payroll! It's so low that choking the division away should be considered a success! Do we get a trophy?"

That 10-game losing streak proved to be a fluky 2010 season your team was having.

Kyle Blanks? Is he gonna be the first Padre homegrown offensive all star since Tony Gwynn? We all know how ****ty the PAdre farm system has been when it comes to producing hitters.

Don't be so ****ing stupid. Again, the $93 million payroll is not considered high anymore in this era and it will only get lower next year. Don't blame the Dodgers that your team has always been a cheapass. Juan Pierre is now with the White Sox. Jason Schmidt was off the books after 2009. So get your facts straight.

As for an NHL team in San Diego, I wish there was one before you became a Kings fan so that you wouldn't have existed on LGK.

Despite some pretty good pitching, the Padres will be lucky to finish ahead of anybody in the NL West. Gonzalez was their only strong hitter and he's in Boston now and hasn't been replaced. And no way La Roche or Lee go to SD as they wont get paid there. So Troy Glaus now? Wow, what a downgrade.

Padres just wont score enough, so their pitching better be awesome if they want to win, and I just don't see it happening. Hoyer is an outstanding young GM, but his hands are really tied, so they better develop their hitters in a hurry as no decent FA is going to come to SD.

If Padres fans thought they hated Matt Kemp before, get ready for 5 years of Matt Kemp at Petco Park.

Pretty much the only thing Kemp can do now is hit homers, most of which are out towards dead center, and he now has to play in the one ballpark that is a death valley for those type of hitters. Good luck with getting him to play anything that isn't center field, even though at this point in his career he should be DHing. Also good luck with trying to get Kemp to act like he's part of a team, instead of acting like he's the reason your whole franchise exists.

You can keep Kemp, I'll stick with A-Gone thank you very much.

on pace to be outscored 2,430 to 0 this season. I'll take it!

I mean we didn't expect much this year, but that was awful.

To have a starter like (James) Shields perform as poorly as he did yesterday is an embarrassment to the team, an embarrassment to him.

They beat the Dodgers 2 of 3 in Monterrey.

Still won't happen this year.

Padres beat the Giants... Giants beat the Dodgers... Dodgers beat the Padres. Always why the West is so messed up but I do like when the Padres beat the Dodgers!

Greatest thread of all time! 11 years and counting!

With this kind of coin being tossed around for this kind of player, by a team like this..............combine that when the new television broadcast contracts come up for renewal years down the road......I see MLB headed for contraction.

I've actually been to a Padres game...............when the played the Dodgers. Very cool experience with pals who live in SD but are Dodger Fans. Great stadium and plenty cool places to have a brew or buy one and go back to your seat. And they had all sorts of great brews.

But 75% of the fans were in Dodger gear, including me.

Here is the problem of the Padres: they do not have the money that bigger teams have. So if they get a great player, he is gone in a couple of years. Why? SD cannot pay what other teams can pay. This happens over and over again.

Same experiences here. I think the big question is if the Padres build a contender will their fans show up? And let's say Petco sells 90% of their seats for a season, will it be enough to stay competitive with other big pocket teams?

Harper going to the Philllies is obviously a sign it's not the dodgers year right? :)

Padres to swoop in and shock the world? oh doctor, you can hang a star on that baby.

If they have the best record by the time they shut down baseball again, I will take that as a Win of the West! They need to hold on for another couple of days or week. This will be epic. Padres win the West at 6-2 season over!
