LOL...I have software that removes jackhammer when converting vinyl to CD. Using it right now as I prepare to convert The Babys Anthology. Not sure it is good enough software to filter out Curves stampede tho.

up to then i only knew it was a movement of the people.
but if small town cops are like swarms of flies and if blackened foil is like boils and hail.
then i'm pretty sure we've been thru this before.

Hey momma, when you leave
Don't leave a thing behind
I don't want nothing
I can't use nothing

Take care, into the hall
And if you see my friends
Tell 'em I'm fine
Not using nothing

Almost burned out my eyes
Threw my ears down to the floor
I didn't see nothing
I didn't hear nothing

I stood there like a block of stone
Knowing all I had to know
And nothing more
And that's nothing

As brother are, troubles are
Locked in each others arms
You better pray
That they never find you

Cause your back ain't strong enough
For burderns double fold
They'll crush you down
Down to nothin'

Being born is going blind
And dying down a thousand times
To echoes strung
On pure temptation

Sorrow and solitude
These are the precious things
And the only words
Worth remembering

she & him-why do you let me stay here? (http://www.mergerecords.com/audio/shehim/whystayhere.mp3)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/Trillions_mouse/Zooey_Deschanel_006.jpg

She & Him is a story of musical serendipity: Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, each renowned in their own creative fields, meet and recognize a certain shared nostalgia. The result is destined to be one of the musical highlights of the year.

Zooey and M. Ward first met to record a version of Richard and Linda Thompson?s ?When I Get To The Border? for a movie soundtrack. Immediately struck by one another?s talents and finding an instant rapport, Zooey let slip that she wrote her own songs which she recorded alone at home on her computer. Somewhat shy about anyone hearing these musical morsels she eventually sent the demos to Matt who was instantly impressed. They soon reconvened at his Portland studio to begin work.

Embracing the warm sound of early analog recordings, Volume One is more than just a showcase for Zooey?s rich and endearing voice; it?s a distinctive and endlessly charming album. The songs themselves give a respectful nod to the likes of Dusty Springfield, Linda Ronstadt and The Zombies while Matt?s production gives them just the right amount of golden era sheen. Whether Zooey?s channeling Ronnie Spector as on ?I Was Made For You? or joining Matt in turning The Beatles ?I Should Have Known Better? into a seductive hula guitar duet, the results are always captivating.

OMFG!!! i <3 that song and i'm not even a huge deathcab fan (i only like a few selections from each album). there's a part in the middle of that song that's just hypnotic/quasi-shoegazing and rhythmic melody. i'm so going to follow that link so i can hear it again because all i have to go on right now is the radio.

It really is; this was my 3rd listen and you can appreciate the level of musicianship a little more with each listen. Will Oldham's voice is hauntingly amazing, per usual, on the track you mentioned.

This was my first Current 93 album, any recommendations for my next step down their road, Ges?

I agree with you that it's not but the good thing about me is that I don't close my mind to anything. I care more about musicianship than anything else and my friends are damn good musicians. And so are Dimmu Borgir, and so was Frank Sinatra and so was Nirvana and so is Nile. And that's why I like them all. Everyone is entitled to their own taste.

But as far as the elitist view on Death metal goes, I agree with you that it's not a fashion nor a trend. It's too ugly to be a trend.
But I disagree with the narrow-minded plea that only strict, anti-label, stoner, grungy-looking, overweight, black & cammo wearing, underground, un-established, illegible band logo having, recording in a basement, burning and distributing on Maxell CDR's outside of Corroded Uterus show = REAL Death metal if that's what you were implying.

I hear ya. I don't like the narrow-minded approach either even though some people might think that's how I look at it. Simply put, I just know what I like. I just don't like seeing bands trying to cash in on the trend of DM. It already happened once in the mid 90's. Bands saw that bands like Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse were doing alright, so they tried to copy them and failed miserably and changed their style. Right now kids are eating up this watered down "DM" and they'll be bored with it soon enough. The bands that have always done it cause they wanted to play death metal are still around and not going anywhere. Do it for the love of the music and not the almighty dollar. If you get signed to a major label without changing your sound or appearance, then you got it going on. If you keep altering things to "get it right" then just give up now cause nobody wants any of that phoney garbage cluttering up "the scene".

Speaking of Immortal, have you ever seen a better video than this one?

YouTube - Immortal - Call Of The Wintermoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VBdAY8eA9w)

Nope, never seen anything better or uncut either. I had all the Immortal videos on VHS back in the late 90's (still have them of course) but my copy of Call of the Wintermoon is the same. I gotta say though that I'm glad a site like YouTube came around so everyone else could witness how silly their videos truely are.
