I get people speaking that dialect at my Salvation Army kettle each year so far from Scotland... I got the dialect down enough that I can speak it like a native... One commented I sounded like one of their cabbies...but not sure if I should take it as an insult as of yet...

Exact same thing in Mexico. Border Patrol Agents I have worked with can almost always tell where they are from (or really close) just talking to them. Slam dunk with the Central Americans

One thing on TV got to me the other day and...well...

If you were a high end car dealer and saw that POS car that Columbo drives pull up to your lot...how much would you bribe him to park it further down the street???

When starting a new job, I was being introduced to the staff, and one of them said to me: "Hi, I'm Konni with an "i."

That being said, regional dialects are fascinating, especially in England, which is so small but the range of accents seem greater than you find here in the US. One of the fun things about meeting lots of people across a public counter was meeting a lot of Brits and correlating their accents to their region.
It's funny that I get a ton of Brits (mostly Scots) at my kettle every winter...and it's fun trying to pick up the dialects/accents... I draw my line with the Welsh though... I don't want to give people showers while speaking back to them...
