Great result for the Nats, so proud of the team, it was difficult but they got the job done.

    Initial thoughts from the game:

    - Couldn't believe Beasley got a yellow so early. Also thumbs up for him playing hurt, while playing a smart game to avoid a 2nd the rest of the way and making accurate passes out of the zone when needed.
    - Omar Gonzalez: solid!
    - We weren't playing much in the way of attacking at all. In that respect we won 0-0.
    - Lackluster from Mexico. They will surely complain about the non-calls on Bradley and Edu. But, perhaps if they didn't fly obnoxiously every time they're touched, they might get more benefit of the doubt.
    - Even if not a fluid attack, it is kind of nice to see a US team actually connect 4 or 5 quick midfield passes in a row and control some tempo.

In addition to Gonzalez (as mentioned above), I thought Zusi and Besler had very nice games as well. Would've loved to have seen any attempt at an offensive push at any time during the game, but overall, thrilled to be leaving Azteca with a point.

Was it just me, or did anyone else think that Azteca seemed pretty tame last night? Crowd never seemed all that into it.

I did find it amusing seeing the Mexican coaching staff going nuts at the officials after the game. Stop diving around and you might get those calls.

After the match, a note was made that the crowd actually supported the team through the whole match and did not turn against them for not scoring. I thought that was pretty funny.

I think the crowd was more along the line of "the team is lackluster, we'll be lackluster". But in regular fashion they still booed the US national anthem and pointed lasers at the goalkeeper. And while not in the stadium, I can only imagine certain piss bombs or cups of puke directed at the US fans.
