There was a report the suspect had a gun.
The buzzword now is "de escalate". Whereas back in the day they probably would have tried to stop it sooner, now the goal is to use the least amount of force as possible. Also they are trying to get away from any militarized type vehicles because they are too "Scary looking." So using a Bearcat is totally out of the picture. Remember this is now LA CO DA George Gascon's world now. We are here to rehabilitate not incarcerate.
