I hope it's not true. Team is ahead of where they should be at the moment, but we're not at a point to push for a cup or anything (would love to be wrong) Stay the course for now, get a UFA in the summer if you really feel you need it. Keep trying to figure out what we have in the system, take chances on guys who other teams may have given up on, college free agents etc.

Hence "young." The team should be a contender in 3-4 years, which means the kid they would acquire will be just entering his prime. They need a stud young defenseman to go with all their forwards and that's one thing they don't have in the pipeline. And what Blake looking for isn't available on the UFA market by definition because again, "young."

If Buffalo soured on Dahlin I'd inquire into that just to see what the price is. Kid was the best defensive prospect to come out of Europe maybe ever but maybe isn't looking as good in his development as he could on almost any team that isn't the Buffalo trainwreck. I'd have to strongly consider moving one of Byfield/Turcotte in a package for him.

Like all rumors, it probably doesn't hurt to be talking, and he probably remembers how previous squads responded when the gm is out there looking for that extra player to get you over the hump.

This is so generic. Every GM is always looking for young dynamic players at various positions to acquire.

I dont see Blake making any major move, unless something falls into his lap where a player is demanding a trade, hurts his value, and Blake is able to scoop in without giving up much.

No surprise here. The Kings having been looking for a left-shot stud defenseman since the end of last season. That was the intent when they signed Maatta.

This is more in line with what I'd call a realistic situation as opposed to the Eichel thing. If Blake needs a young "dynamic" left-shot d-man trading a Turcotte makes a bit more sense here. I think moving Byfield would be a major mistake at this point even for this d-man....but the Kings seem to have enough assets where they can avoid that and still end up with what they think they need.
