If we end up with a Top 3 pick this season will be considered a success.

Everything I've read indicates that they'll have the 3rd best odds in the draft lottery, as Vegas did.

Will they also be a powerhouse out of the gate and for the foreseeable future?

This might be the best year for D-Men since we drafted Doughty in 2008.

I just want one of these 5 D-Men:

Owen Power, Simon Edvinsson, Brandt Clarke, Luke Hughes, Carson Lambos.

If we can get ANY out of those 5, it'll be a great draft for us, IMO.

There will probably be at least 1, possibly 2 FW in the top 5 or so (Sillinger? Raty? Beniers?).
If we can get into the top 6 or 7, we'll almost surely get one of those D-men above.

Draft-order forecasts are all over the map right now, but here's one:

Beniers is awesome. L'Heureux has been on fire .
But yeah, we should be able to land a top D man.
If we have to "settle" for Beniers, I won't cry.

You aren't kidding about the uncertainty surrounding this draft...the top 10-15 are all over the place. If the Kings land above 7, there will be some fantastic opportunity.

    Lol.

Kinda works to tank if done properly and we can Kollect the Rewards!
"isn't collect spelled with a "C"??... "Yes it is Tripper but that would spell BARC"

The talk a year ago was that GMs learned their lesson in the Vegas expansion and that they wouldn't get "fleeced" this time around. However, with teams facing a flat salary cap, a number of cap-strapped GMs will be scrambling and may be forced to surrender assets to Ron Francis in exchange for relief.

Still, it's hard to say what will happen in the West. Vegas will be tough and has DeBoer behind the bench. Edmonton should be formidable and has Tippet. Vancouver under-performed this year. Calgary seems confused but will have Sutter for a full year. The California teams will likely be poor to middlin' for another season.

Given that I'm now in Washington, I will be pulling for the Kraken as much as the Kings. I have high hopes, but of course, much will depend on the expansion draft and selection of a coach. I'm disappointed that the minor league affiliate was not better sorted out, so that they could be ready to go out of the gate. The Kraken will have to rely on placing their prospects with other AHL clubs until their Palm Desert facility is completed in the summer of 2022.

The best thing the Kings have going for them is time. Learn how to win and slowly increase your wins each year. 2025 is the year when the Kings will make a run into the playoffs. Mark it down!
