We can filter in young players, we can develop them, bring them in when they’re ready, and surplus them with quality NHL players to take a step forward."

Bernstein and I have been going at it for awhile now on Twitter. He is so anti-Vilardi it's sickening. Mr. #Playthekids seems to forget Vilardi IS one of the kids.

I know he struggled for a bit but he IS a rookie. They do that. Gabe has 32 AHL games and 64 NHL games and that is it for his professional experience. Missing over a year of his development.

Even still Gabe has comparable numbers to a lot of the top rookies the last 2 years.

    Gp G A Pts +/-

    Gabe 64 10 13 23 -8
    Alex Lafreniere 56 12 9 21 -7
    Kappo Kakko (19-20) 66 10 13 23 -26
    Tim Stutzle 53 12 17 29 -18
    Jack Hughes (19-20) 61 7 14 21 -26

No ones talking about shipping them off.

*not doing Kaprizov cuz he's had 6 years in the KHL
** I had the numbers all neatly lined up in columns but I guess it doesn't save.

Sorry but I think Vilardi's comps are players in his age cohort.

    1 9 Detroit Michael Rasmussen C Tri-City Americans [WHL] 102 11 19 30 55 2020-21
    1 10 Florida Owen Tippett R Mississauga Steelheads [OHL] 52 8 11 19 6 2020-21
    1 11 Los Angeles Gabriel Vilardi C Windsor Spitfires [OHL] 64 13 17 30 10 2020-21
    1 12 Carolina Martin Necas C Brno Kometa [Czech] 125 31 48 79 32 2020-21
    1 13 Vegas Nick Suzuki C Owen Sound Attack [OHL] 127 28 54 82 32 2020-21

Certainly a guy like Suzuki, especially the way he has played with Toffoli, would be a welcome addition in LA. Gabe's played decent. He's flashed some promise. Hopefully next year Vilardi takes a big step forward. He had better numbers in 19-20 than 20-21.

Really? What's his issue with him? I assume inconsistency, but that's kind of par for the course at this age.

DB is odd. He likes to point out the warts on peoples favorite players. Before Vilardi it was Kempe. Kings would win 5-2 and he'd go out of his way to point out Kempe's scoreless streak. It carried over to Gabe to the point where he would gloat when Gabe was struggling.
Gabe is a rookie, who will struggle, but shows flashes of brilliance that you know he has. He makes mistakes but he's 21, quit trying to include him in every cockamamie
trade proposal just because he hasn't performed to YOUR expectations yet. (this rant is still directed at DB)
