Feel so bad for the kid… especially since he was showing everyone watching that he is NHL ready.

Wishing him all the best in his recovery and rehab.

Fracture is good, though, no? Compared to other possible injuries...

    Get well soon!

It would seem so. a fracture is usually 6-8 weeks. ligament or tendon damage is longer.
I am VERY surprised that they released the news that it was a fracture. Usually they just give us that "lower body injury, out indefinitely" bs.

Depends on the fracture; also, just because they didn't specifically mention ligament damage doesn't mean there isn't any in addition to the fracture. When Kopi broke his ankle the ligament damage was the bigger issue.

But if it is only a simple fracture, yes, it's probably the best outcome given the possibilities and he should be at full strength in 6-8 weeks. Fingers crossed...

Even more crushing is that Todd confirmed that Byfield had made the opening night roster. Last night vs Ducks was a new opportunity to make the roster for someone else.

It's a shame for the kid and also bad news for the team. I think he would have done well.

Very annoying but Byfield will be around the team full time and that time off the ice around NHL vets will be huge for his personal development.
