Default Are you all watching this Canes troll job on Montreal? They offer sheeted Kotkeniemi

Very clearly a response to Montreal giving Aho an offer sheet in 2019 , they gave KK a TWENTY dollar signing bonus. Aho's number.
a 1 year deal at $6,100,015, the 15 is kk's number. It will cost them a 1st and a 3rd if Montreal lets him go. He is 20 years old and a former 3rd overall pick. It will put Montreal over the cap by 8 million if they match.

They issued the EXACT same press release that Montreal did!

Context and a Reversed hand with middle finger extended to MTL. This is the SAME quote Bergevin issued when MTL signed Aho to an OS:
"Sebastian Aho accepted our offer. He wants to come to MTL. He sees our youngsters coming up in the org & he wants to be a part of that. We're proud, but there's still a waiting period."

Canes GM Waddell: "Jesperi Kotkaniemi accepted our offer. He wants to come to Carolina. He sees the core we’ve built here and he wants to be a part of that. We’re proud, but there’s still a waiting period. When you make an offer like that, we saw a vulnerable position.” (1/2)

Ha Ha. This is why LA WON'T offer sheet Sergachev, or anyone else. Soon our kids will be RFA's and teams remember.

Good, offer sheets are a dirty proposition and tarnishes a GM's reputation.

Blake should dust off his hipcheck on any GM that tries to poach one of our players. Even the crappy ones, lol.

If you want a player you sit at the table none of this underhanded shenanigans.

I listened to Brian Burke talk about offer sheets and he had no problem with them. Didn't think they were underhanded or broke some unwritten code. He thought not calling the opposing GM before making the offer was bull**** but that they're all part of the game.

Burke was upset at Kevin Lowe for that very reason when Lowe signed Pancakes to that contract. I think Burke wanted fight him in a barn or some such. DL also threatened any GM who would come after his players...not in the same way....but still....it worked.

I remember the Burke interviews differently. He came across as if he was fine with offer sheets. Not that he "liked" them, but it's not like it would cause him to stop dealing with another GM.

And Montreal should let them choke on it. If KK were signed for 2 years $12M (then UFA), Montreal would be fortunate to get that 1st and 3rd.

The Aho offer sheet was a bargain for the Canes. The owner didn't like it because it cost $21M the 1st year.
