Hopefully Cal is finding his confidence down there. So far, so good. Two games played on consecutive nights, 2 Ws, 54 saves on 57 shots - .947 SV%.

Honest question, what good does "finding confidence" do down in Ontario if he has been struggling big time in the Chel?
The options are continue sucking at the NHL level or go down, face live shooters and remember what it feels like to not suck. There's literally no harm in trying option B when option A isn't working. That's not to say he'll ever find his game at the NHL level again but what has he or the team got to lose at this point?
The problem is not that he hasn't been stopping quality NHL shots; the problem is that he hasn't been stopping peewee-level shots. He needs to get to a point where he's stopping some kind of shots confidently and work his way back up. Particularly since he's primarily a technique and positioning goalie, he needs to get those back to where he feels confident in them. If he feels comfortable in his positioning and technique, the saves will take care of themselves. Getting shelled in the NHL every night was definitely not going to get him comfortable again.
Speaking of Ontario, is Turcotte injured again, for ****s sake?!
