By the time the Kings play on Saturday, they will most probably be sitting in 4th place - and the other 4 teams in the race will still have at least 1 game in hand. This scheduling has me baffled...
Tomorrow, Edmonton is playing in Philly and Calgary in Detroit. Both Pacific teams have to be big favorites in those games. But we can hope for the Devils to beat Seattle and for the Wild to beat Vegas.
It's entirely possible that Edmonton starts next week in first place with 66 points if they beat Ottawa on Sunday.
Sure hope Rob has something good up his sleeve. Without an upgrade on defense, it is going to be very difficult for the inconsistent Kings to make the postseason dance - especially if Calgary starts playing up to expectation.
On the positive side, of the 29 remaining games 16 are at home. The Kings and Calgary have the best home records among the top 5 teams in the Pacific. One can hope that may provide some advantage.
I just don't know what to expect from the remainder of the season. I look at the -10 goal differential and think there's no chance. But then again, this group has been full of surprises! GKG!!!
