Saturday’s first practice of the 2026 postseason brought some encouraging news when it comes to the health of LA’s roster. For weeks now, forward Andrei Kuzmenko has appeared close to preparing for a return to action. In addition, Jeff Malott sat out the regular season’s final handful of games with an upper body injury.
Now, they’ve both turned a corner.
“Everyone’s available, except for Kevin [Fiala]” said coach DJ Smith, following Saturday’s practice.
With the Kings set to depart this afternoon for Colorado, this is a good sign heading into their first-round matchup with the Avalanche.
As for Saturday’s alignment, here’s how things were put together by Smith and his staff:
#GoKingsGo practice alignment in advance of traveling for Game 1:
Panarin – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Byfield – Laferriere
Armia – Laughton – Wright
Joseph – Helenius – Mallot
Kuzmenko – Turcotte – Ward

Earlier in the day, LA recalled goaltender Pheonix Copley, as well. He’ll join the team as their G3 for the playoffs.
