Advertising on jerseys 2022-2023

Another consequence of the pandemic, in trying to recoup lost revenue. The size seems pretty small, but I sure hope it's not another step down a slippery slope. The first steps were long ago, when they put advertising on the boards in the 80's.

The beginning of the slippery slope was when the NHL banned playerss from tucking their jerseys, presumably to ready advertising to be displayed proudly. This certainly seems like a frog and in a slow boiling pot of water.

If they're tiny like on NBA jerseys. Fine. I can accept that.

If it's big like Team Herbalife or whatever with a small team logo, then **** that. Or if it's anything like WNBA and KHL jerseys they can go to hell.

The helmet ads are here to stay as well.

ads fit inside a 3-inch-by-3.5-inch rectangle

These ads've ben on practice jerseys for a while. Now they'd just be making their way to the games.

And yeah, the Euro jerseys are an advertising mess. But short of that, if they're done right, you won't really notice.

I mean, how fixated do you get with those helmet ads? And I (along with millions of others) deal fine with soccer jersey sponsorships without a thought.

Yeah because corporations will stop there lol

I'll complain when it's time to complain. Right now, it's not.

NHL does not make enough money. Plain and simple. It was only a matter of time.
NHL is doing this to stay afloat after COVID.

Too much of the NHL revenue is generated from game day. It's been completely wrecked for a season and a half (sorta).
Going into another season now, the league knows it won't reach full capacity of game day revenue thanks to Delta, and the antivaxxer fools.
They have got to get money somewhere.

However, AEG is smart, as are the Raiders, and more than likely many more ownership groups: They are going to protect their investment in live entertainment and try to win back game day revenue by requiring vaccinations for all attendants and employees.
It's a very smart move to create the safest environment possible. Sure, they may lose a small percentage of revenue due to the loss of the antivaxxer fanbase, but that is a low(er) percentage that will get lower and lower as time marches on via eventual vaccination (by either a needle or by COVID itself) or death.

Keep in mind this is not corporations pushing this, its franchise ownership WANTING the revenue desperately.

The problem I see with the jersey ads is the revenue is team by team. Big market teams will get good deals but what about teams like Arizona? They can't even sell out the board ads (see arena and team ads to fill the empty spaces).

Let's see it as an opportunity!

I am still saving up to rent some ad space on those jerseys. Something self aggrandizing to be sure.

Making things worse: From an OCD perspective will the helmet ad and jersey ad complement each other?

City of Hope and XanaX.
