Anyone else see 2 or 3 of our "Dmen" that are way in over their heads?

I have a hard time believing Mikey Anderson, Sean Walker, possibly even Matt Roy being considered "NHL caliber" Defensemen when i haven't seen any improvement with their poise, decision-making and costly turnovers. This is an apparently an extension of the last two seasons....Anyone else seeing this or are we going to take managements words for it and keep living in denial? The personnel upfront has improved and looks more dangerous, but we won't even sniff a playoff spot with the lack of talent back there.

I saw Drew Doughty after getting into a shoving match with Ryan Hartman, completely lose track of him and leave him alone in front of Quick for an easy goal.

Anderson definitely had a bad game.

They're getting pushed around a little bit. Collectively, we're getting pushed around except for our Top 2 Centermen, Brown, and Iafallo. All you "We need Skill players" need to learn how you actually win at this game.

Yeah, I'm a Dinosaur, but frankly, what wins come playoff time is Big Strapping Bodies.

Really, I don't know how anyone is watching Anderson thinking he's not playing well. The others maybe, season is young... so are they.

Agreed we are still in need of size on the backend and a couple big bodies on the wings. This is most evident against a psychical team like Minn and will also haunt us in the playoffs. Good news is that we appear to have a team that can get to the playoffs so that is a big step forward in itself.

It wasn't size that was the problem, as much it was it was late reactions bad decisions and general sloppy play. If they were more decisive and faster--a few of the goals would have never happened. I still rather have this crew than McDermid, who would have blown it in his own big slow way

Mikey Anderson is a beast and has potential to be a number 1a defenseman. He was arguably our best D last year.

Matt Roy and Sean Walker can leave this team at any time.

Matt Roy and Sean Walker are bridge type of players. Once Faber, Clarke, Spence, Durzi, Grans, Nousiainen, Kirsanov...come knocking on the doors, they will be traded for picks/prospects, or a specific need at forward positions. The Kings have *a lot* of depth now at defense, with *a lot* of top 4 potential. It's only a matter of time before at least a couple of these youngsters will see ice time at the Kings.

Check out this threading the needle breakout pass by Grans yesterday leading to a Turcotte goal.

Just wanted to say in one of the Wild goals, Edler was stumbling around the net and happened to interfere/block Walker from getting back into position. And that led to a goal as well... lol

This is why you keep them in the AHL this season they will be better for it. Let them prove they are ready for the NHL by dominating the AHL. I am not opposed to bringing them up for a few games then being sent down. There is zero rush this season as the Kings will hopefully be around 500.

call it a sophomore slump perhaps for Anderson, but I try to remain calm until game 20

Grans is nowhere near NHL ready. Frankly, he may never be. But he definitely has some offensive skills.

I think Matt Roy has shown himself to be a steady stay-at-home d-man. Nothing spectacular, but he does his job well. Walker probably loses his job next season, as Brandt Clarke probably makes the team.

I don't think Anderson is a first pairing d-man. But we are real thin on the left hand side, so I'm not sure if there is a better option. Even if you look at prospects, we have Clague, Moverare and Phillips as our LDs in Ontario. None of them project to a top-4 d-man. Perhaps Kirill Kirsanov has a shot, but he's years away.

Hope this kid is developed well. Grans has the size and passing skill the Kings need.

And, yes, Scott Walker is just a placeholder. Matt Roy is serviceable and could be traded for a mid-round pick.

With Maatta back it will bring some much needed stability to out D-corps. mhihi: :drunk:

I?m not upset with any of the D really. The guy I?d currently single out as lacking much of an identity is Bjornfot. He?s got good decision making with moving the puck and you can see he?s got lots of tools, but he just kinda exists out there without asserting himself into the play. I like him a lot and think he has lots of potential, but I think he would have been best served playing in the AHL for 2-4 years ala Voynov before getting his cup of coffee. I think he?s been rushed, and hope we don?t Aki Berg him.

Anderson continues to impress all things considered but certainly will continue to develop. Edler has been a nice surprise, Walker is playing with more confidence and Roy is solid.
