looks like it's finally happening?

https://lakingsinsider.com/2021/11/...s-into-chances-finishing-clagues-development/

Todd McLellan noted that the top line hasn?t quite given the Kings the same level of offensive threat as of late that they did earlier in the season.

?That line hasn?t had as many dangerous chances as it did earlier in the year, so we?ve got to shake the tree a little bit,? he said.

When you aren?t scoring a ton of goals at 5-on-5, typically change comes. McLellan remained complementary of Brown, who now adds an element of physicality and leadership to the third line with Kupari and Moore.

?He?s 37 years old, he leads us in hits, he?s shot the puck and he?s played a hard, aggressive game, he?s doing a lot of the things,? McLellan said. ?He?s provided leadership and he?s done the things that you ask of him, it?s just not going in for him right now. Brownie will be just fine where he goes, he just needs to pop one in the net and I think things will come for him.?

****ing finally. It's taken far, far too long. He's not been contributing anything to the team for quite some time. And frankly, he's not much of an addition to the third line. He's ready for the press box.

Long overdue. I appreciate all he has done over the years but there is not much left in the tank...

It only makes sense. In an earlier thread, I expressed that 9-11-33 would be the top line when Arvidsson returned. Glad to see TM is trying out that combo. Makes the top 2 lines dangerous units. Hope it works and Brown remains in the bottom 6.

What are they going to do with 33? Why is he on the top line? 6-0-1 when not in the lineup, thanks for the stat TC.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed when Arvidsson is in the lineup, we lose more often than not. Coincidence?

ARvidson clearly is skating faster and getting more shots on goal. He also probably has some leash given how little he's played so far.

Brown's good for delivering a good solid hit and making some plays... but he has no business being anywhere near the first line.

Personally I don't get all of the disparaging comments about Brown. For a team that lacks much physical presence and gets dominated in the hits category nearly every game, Brown is still a very valuable player. That said, the transition to the third line seems fitting and should be good for both Brown and the team. I'm excited to see what he, and Moore, together can do to help support Kupari's growth.

Brown really looks like every former power forward in their final lap. From Rick Tocchet, Brendan Shanahan, Shane Doan, Keith Tkachuk to Jarome Iginla. To a man they hung on for one extra year where they stopped hitting long before and just kind of floated around having next to zero impact on the game. Dustin Brown is in that extra year right now.

He'll be here another 6.

I know nothing about contracts. I think I saw his is up 2022? Assuming he's retiring here next year? I can't see him moving whole family around just to keep playing for whatever. He's proved everything I think he may have needed to prove, and then some.

Valid point, but the same could have been said about Getzlaf last year or Carter before he joined the Penguins. Only time will tell

Yep this is his last season under contract. Totally agree his family is rooted in LA and unlikely to want to leave, nor does he have anything left to prove. Hopefully he retires healthy and as a King.

Look out Brown, Lias Anderson is looking for that 3rd line spot he left..

How is it loooong overdue? He rode out the line as it was for the win streak. They finally lost in regulation, now you can't ignore that line needs to score so he made the change. Good coaching I'd say.

Disagree, they weren't still laying out guys the way Brown laid out Suzuki. Do agree though that his first line days are now behind him.

Good change, coach. You can do this in-game too!

and let's be real, Arvidsson and Kempe aren't exactly top line material either.

[ I can't help myself]
Down goes Brown?

Your analysis is severely flawed. Brown is certainly not the player he was 10 years ago, but currently he is one of few Kings who is plying physically. The opposing team players are well aware that he is on the ice. There's a reason the coaches gave him the 2nd "A" in Doughtys absence.

I thought Brown already had the second A and they gave Iafallo the 3rd A with Doughty out.
