***Calgary Flames vs. LA Kings GDT 12/2/21 7:30pm on BSW***

welp....it's a 3-2 league. Fun game, at least. Well worth the drive to Staples. That was the fastest game (on-ice speed, that is) start to finish all season, I'm pretty sure. I wish I could skate half as fast as Johnny Hockey. A couple of bounces our way, and we could have tied or won.

If Kopitar and Brown can?t ever be separated, then they should both move to the third line.

In what I saw of the third period 11 and 23 looked behind the play.

And what?s with Kopitar taking 50? floaters during the empty net frustration? That can?t be the best option with Kaliyev, Kempe and Durzi on the ice.

At this point, im on board with dropping Brown down to some pretty limited ice time. He's consistently the guy throwing a wrench in the play with poor passes on the rush/transition. He's bring so little to the table right now. They can barely even make use of him as a net front presence because they never get the chance to establish possession in the offensive zone. I also dont think McClellan is a bad coach, but im starting to come around on some of the criticism. But i think we have to recognize that Arvidsson has looked like he fits better on the Danault line, and it's looking rather apparent that finding literally anybody that can play with Kopitar and Brown is considerably more difficult than one would reasonably expect.

I like Arvidsson with Danault as well. But I would rather see Kempe as the LW. If Brown and Kopi are permanently conjoined, then Iafallo is the only guy on the team who can successfully play their style game.

This game looks like the 2021 Kings playing the 2012 Kings

I was at the game and must have said this 10 times. That smothering forecheck was like deja vu. My exact quote was, "remember when we used to do that to everyone?"

I won’t start the whole fire the coach thing it I will beg the guy to try something different. We can’t score so why doesn’t Frk at least get a shot on that top line? I may be Browns biggest defender but come on… not just off the first line, scratch him for a game or two. Let’s see what Turcotte can do. My number one problem
With TM is simple - he is a creature of habit and will keep playing the same players that aren’t getting the job done. Imagine having what is considered the best group of prospects In the league and only dipping into it when you’re forced to by injuries etc.

Time to move on from McLellan. I was not a fan of the hire since day one. He never did anything in SJ, had arguably the 2 best players in the league in Edmonton and had no success. This is year 3 and can you honestly say this team is better than the 2018 team led by Stevens?

Send him packing while this season is still salvageable. Take Roy and Petersen with him. They were both brutal on this homestand.

Go Kings!!

The worst part is he was supposed to be our Number One.

Number One in Ontario, maybe.

I know. I hate to dump on the guy. I can't help but think he could still be the number one, but it's a delicate position. Look at Campbell and how long it took him to become what he is now. The issue is, it's a 3-2 league and the guy's GAA is literally 3... so guess what that means. As Quick seems to be coming back to earth the past couple of games, things are looking dire.

Yup. Maybe I should?ve called more of them out?

I thought Arvy played one of his best games as King last night. Roy also showed signs of improvement as the game went on, especially on offense.

I hate to put the blame on Cal, but the fact is their goalie came up with save crucial saves when ours did not. Markstrom's save on Arvidsson through traffic was huge.

It's frustrating because I thought the Kings played one of their better games against a very good Calgary team. But the schedule doesn't get much easier and no one's gonna feel sorry for us. The Kings are going to have to start winning some of these games.

In the meantime, I'll be happy not see the any more Tkachuks for a while

Buncha freakin' psychos.

man, can we start a petition to get brown down the line up ... love the guy ... but he needs to placed in his proper spot for his skill level ... 3/4 line , and second PP .... first PP if it will keep kopi happy

Congratulations to the many posters who correctly guessed that the Kings and former Kings would combine for 5 points:

What's there to say other than that went about as expected. Glad Tlew and Daryl got an ovation. Not glad that their side is better positioned than ours. I still liked Durzi's progress. Arty needs to be put into a position for some success. Drew looked like he's not going to let up this year at all. At some point they have to mesh this to get points though.

Brown had a pretty poor pass back to Edler which led to Edler taking a penalty and seems to be behind the offensive play quite often. He looks pretty good when he gets into position, though, and had probably the best scoring opportunity on the line towards the beginning of the game.

I've never been on board with McClellan as a coach but do like that he has been changing up the lines trying to find combos that works. My criticism there, though, is when he finds a line combo that does work he proceeds to break it up.

Totally agree - if Kopitar/Brown remain together (which it seems they need to) then we should put Iafallo back on the line with them and move then down to the 2nd line with the Danault line taking over the top line position. Kempe/Danault/Arvidsson should make a great combo and Arvidsson has really come alive since being placed with Danault.

Thanks for the commentary here on the game I couldn't watch.

The ****ing Bally Sports App on Roku hasn't worked the past few games -- claiming I don't have access. The app sucks even when it does work. FSW's app at least allowed me to start the game from the beginning too. It's not difficult to make an easy interface for these streaming apps and so many can't get it right. **** Bally.

Oh, and to keep it hockey related... Brown makes at least a few boneheaded or weak passes every single game now. Should be on the 3rd or 4th line and NO powerplay time.

But that's what im saying, he's not fast enough to get into position by the time the Kings have lost possession, or worse still, he's directly responsible for the turnover a la that pass to Edler. On a team that lives and dies on its ability to make good passes and play "fast", he's consistently the guy that's mucking that up. I like him as a net front presence, but what else is he bringing to the table right now? He's not fast, his passing is weak, and he's not hitting anybody. I advocated for his return to the top line simply because his presence with Kopitar seems to improve that line's possession, and im fine keeping him there. But i think 1st line minutes, especially Kopitar minutes is too much for him. Im personally not a fan of moving Iaffalo to that top line, i think he's a middle six guy and has just played so well with Danault id hate to mess that up (although i certainly understand the rationale). I'd almost rather see Moore bumped up there. Not sure he has the finish for it, but he has some of the other attributes that seem to mesh well with Kopitar.

The line combos thing is such a delicate issue. You cant just reward the younger guys if you dont think their play has warranted the promotion. Additionally, you kind of have to give lines some time to gel. It's unfortunate that Vilardi has regressed so much this season, and that Byfield is injured. Those guys, progressing this season, would have definitely helped right about now. ****ing shame.

Sucks that the Kings lost but they played a good game against a good team.
