Carolina/Montreal ECF Thread

Well, now that Vegass is back in the Cup Final, it's now either Carolina or Montreal in the ECF side.

Go Canes! If Carolina advances, then it's them all the way. If it's Montreal, then, ugh, I'd never thought I would say this but Vegass is who I'm going to pull for... because I want the '93 Curse kept alive.

At this point, I'm pulling for the Hurricanes in the ECF. Yes, 1993 is part of it, but also, it seems just wrong that a team (MTL) should get this far by trying to win games with 12 SOG. Yes, they've lost the last two with that many shots, but could very easily have won both, not to mention winning game 7 against Tampa with only 9 SOG.

I actually have rooted for MTL a bit. I can’t help it - such a special place for hockey. But I am rooting for Carolina now especially after game 3 for the reasons you said. I actually hated the Kings under Hiller and it got to the point where I didn’t care if they lost because I thought Hiller’s approach is bad for hockey. There’s structured, defensive play and there’s waiting it out for a sucker punch.

Anyway, Carolina has been dominant but has had easier competition than Vegas. I am still thinking that could be one awesome Finals, but Vegas has hit a stride that may be tough to overcome.

Brindamour being the real life Ted Lasso has reached it's tipping point. He made all the right moves, now it's time for him to bring home the hardware. But rooting against him just incase. =)

Sacre bleu! Let's go Frenchies!

3-0 lead for Carolina at the start of the 3rd period of Game 4, huh. Montreal looks like they're getting spent on playing the long, defensive game.

Now it's a 3-1 series lead for Carolina as they take Game 4 for the W. Final score: 4-0 Carolina. Montreal's SOG total: 17. And they only managed to get a measly two in the 3rd period. That's just sad. Montreal's lucky they've managed to make it this far to the ECF as they're really playing like LA Kings East the way their performance is displayed in the EC side of the playoffs.

One more W for Carolina and it's a trip with Vegass in the SCF. Go Canes!

The Hurricanes remind me of the 2012 Kings. Just relentless, the way they played that 3rd period, as if they were the ones trailing.

Wow, 5-0 Carolina at the time of the 3rd period in Game 5. Montreal's luck really has run out in this year's ECF. I'm loving it.

Montreal tried emulating the Kings' style of play in the EC side of the playoffs (which isn't surprising since they traded for Danault, who's part of the reason Montreal got that far) and while it got them as far as the ECF, they ran into a buzzsaw that is the Canes, in spite of stealing one game from Carolina.

Well, there goes Andersen's B2B SO bid. But if there's going to be a Miracle on Manchester-style comeback in a game like this, that won't happen with a team like the Habs.

Oh, and I swear I just heard the Carolina crowd mocking the Habs with the "Ole!" chant just now. Seriously, that chant doesn't belong in hockey; that's a soccer chant and I actually don't find it endearing. But hey, if it takes to mock Montreal with something, I'll all for it.

Bye Bye Montreal. The Curse of 1993 continues to live on as Carolina advances to the SCF for the first time since 2006. Final score: 6-1 Carolina. Thank you, Canes.

Now bring on Vegass and school their behinds.

Let's dress up for the finals. 😂
