Cihar Named World Juniors MVP

And other Kings prospect analysis from the tournament.

Was Cihar the guy they actually traded down to pick? Seems like the scouts found a good one! The four Kings draft choices from last summer playing in the tournament may all make it to the NHL. And then there’s Brzustewicz, Woolley and Greentree in the pipeline. Seems as though the asset are there to sweeten future transactions.

Thanks for sharing this. It's been really hard the last few years to follow the entire Kings prospect pool.

Nice to see another goalie prospect in the pipeline besides George - too bad he beat us in the quarters.

Was just going to shout out Sweden and congratulate Emsomaso while simultaneously asking if any of those WJ champs want to be a King, and if he could speak to them on our behalf.*

*grass roots campaign- we are all doing our part. =)
I’ll talk to them! But even if I can convince them to come here they will either get traded for a slow, older defenseman that makes to much money or being stapled to the bench by our 🤡 for coach…

Greentree's stock seems to be down significantly this season, especially playing about 2 minutes total in the WJC and Brustewicz didn't make the US team at all. Cihar looks like a Turcotte Light to me. A gamer with good, but not great, hands and speed who is undersized. I think he's going to have real problems with NHL-sized bodies. So while they all have value, I don't know that they have a lot of value.

Should have traded Thomas after the golden goal. This is exactly when you trade a prospect. Lots of players have had standout WJC outings to never produce at the NHL level.

Maybe he does maybe he doesn’t, but taking no swings is also a risk.

If the plan is to win-now for the foreseeable future, I agree.

Cihar is a little bigger than Turc and has been playing in a men’s league and holding his own for the past 2 years - so I disagree with your assessment. But I do agree they should move him while his stock is high. Brzusty will get his shot next year. He was very young when drafted. Greentree is the captain of his Junior team and scoring well again. He had an injury issue to start the season but has been playing good offensive hockey once again. He is big and mean.

Uh, long enough for a Kempe mentoring sesh and a jersey for us, fair trade off?

Aside: You know I know you don't know those guys, right? The stupid American label is true but in this case, less true. =)

Big is good! Mean is good!

Cihar is very optimistically listed at 6' and 180lbs, and I think he's a lot closer to 5'10" and 160 lbs. He's about the size of one of Wilson's legs.
You quoted my remark in response to Birdman about Greentree, not Cihar. I’ll edit it so there is no confusion. Greentree is big, he scores, and he has a mean streak.
